  1. I foresee massive rendering in the above case.
  2. 😂 Have never seen those huge pours! My customers would fire someone doing that! 😳
  3. People, over multiple scenarios, seem to struggle with this concept. If one uses an Onboard service on the ship, THEN, OBC can be used to offset those costs. I don’t know the multiple combinations and permeations utilized by other cruise lines. However, everything one does on an Oceania ship is chargeable to the shipboard account.Available OBC is utilized to offset any such charges. How difficult is that?
  4. There is a long practice among certain Oceania regulars to hit Martinis before 5, while the elevator are still running, so not to have to manage the stairs once the drill begins. Typically those showing up late to drills are: (1) The Obvious (2) Newbies incapable of managing the stairs after the elevators are shut off; (3) the jerks that just try to hide believing the rules don’t apply to them. On the Marina in 2019, our reporting station was the GDR. It actually became sport to BOO and HISS all those late comers , holding the entire exercise up, while being delivered in by Security.
  5. This is an interesting dilemma. Alaskan ports are often jammed in the summer. I’ve seen 6-7+ ships in Juneau at once. When this happens, and it doesn’t always happen but often enough, ships are forced to anchor not dock. What I learned is that docking rights are assigned by seniority. Compared to the big boys, Oceania is a baby still in diapers. Stand in the harbor area and we saw the usual actors at dock, and Oceania out in the harbor running tenders. Not the case everyday, but most often. Exchanging a R ship ( Regatta) for an O or A class ship won’t change seniority, but only the number of passengers tendered in and out to/from dock..
  6. It will definitely be interesting to see where she sails. Europe and Americas. We are on the Vista in June and except for the very top suites, available cabins are wide open, and we have not reached final payment yet where more typically becomes available. How many ships does O believe it can fill in Europe? Does Americas mean another ship in the Carribe in the winter or is the Marina getting displaced on its S.A. Winter itineraries?
  7. It’s who they are and what they do. Of course, this is combined with all the posts proclaiming “ I’d Sue”! I’d Sue! 🙄
  8. It’s amazing the vast number of Oceania cruisers that refuse to listen and abide by directives given by ship officers, the cruise director, destination services, tour guides, and that further complain about participating ins SAFELY drill. Maybe it’s the Oceania way. If an emergency aboard ship ever did occur hopefully it would take hours to unfold. All of those above would continue to ignore the warning blasts of the horn and any direction from the ship’s officers because that’s who they are and what they do. It would take hours, with disabled elevators and oblivious passengers, to ever get to their lifeboats. It’s actually sad listening to people ***** about having to attend a simple safety drill. 🥺
  9. How’s this for a reply? If the sun is blazing into the aft of the PG and Toscana, even with the shades drawn, it will be quite warm, maybe even hot. However, in an attempt to cool it down, the blaring air conditioning has it uncomfortably cold in the front part of said restaurants. This condition varies based on direction of the sun and if it’s cloudy. So, in your opinion, are the restaurants warm or cool? As Jancruz suggests, I always take a jacket, and my DW a sweater, which we may or may not wear once there.
  10. New since post Covid restart. Gotta cruise to see/hear of them. They had one on our Oct Sirena cruise. Only the newbies got the personal invite.
  11. The new cruiser reception along with the repeater’s party is by invitation only. They are never announced in the Currents.
  12. NO! There are wine stewards that cover certain areas of the venue with multiple guests to take care. One’s rate of consumption is in no way related to the regularity of appearance of the wine steward. Let me reiterate a point. The waiters do not serve the wine, that is left to the wine steward. So, if your restaurant is full and your wine steward busy, your glass may well set empty for awhile.
  13. They typically only bring one glass at a time.
  14. 8 or 9 hours PE, I can handle. Fifteen to seventeen to OZ, no way. My 6’2” isn’t going to take it. Did it eight years ago to OZ, but not now. We’re booked on the OZ circumnavigation in December. Before booking the cruise, I accepted that the new outrageous BZ tickets were part of the deal. The advantage of being < 5’ 8”! 🥺 I have friends whose wife can sit In Economy and her feet barely hit the floor. She doesn’t understand paying the additional costs! 🥴
  15. Qantas Airlines dumping the A380s and replacing them with the Dreamliner took out a lot of capacity affecting supply and demand. The crazy price hikes on that route reflects that change.
  16. I’m taking it that the OP booked directly with Oceania and didn’t use a Travel Agent. Most of this sounds like the conversation a professional Travel Agent would have with their client.
  17. I agree with this. There is a huge market for inexpensive wine regardless of the quality of that wine. That’s why it’s produced in the millions of cases. If you don’t like it, yet see someone enjoying theirs, just nicely ask them if they’d like more. You’ll probably make a friend.
  18. All aboard is normally thirty (30) minutes prior to scheduled departure.
  19. +1 to the above. However, I believe I’ve recently read they have reinstated the mandatory drill.
  20. The patio door not closing will affect the room temperatures! Interesting that they didn’t move you to a different cabin. The ship is not very full. The cruise starting today, and ours in 2.5 weeks are wide open with available cabins all the way back to Miami. I think any request for a different cabin would be meet. In fact, that door would probably be forced closed and kept that way.
  21. It’s the definition of plonk. It’s neither corked nor undrinkable, it’s just a very poor quality of wine. Ours was a non descriptive white blend. If memory serves me it was a Sav Blanc, Chardonnay blend of non malolactic fruit, so mostly just flavors of grapefruit and citrus. Probably for the best, since malolactic would have killed the acidity, and the acidity was the only thing saving it. I think we took it to lunch in the Terrace on a sea day. Had some cheese, charcuterie, and apples. Boring wine which we drank what we wanted and left the rest. Chill it down to 55 degrees F, and I’ll give it a 79-80. As it warms it degrades to a 75 quickly. Plonk.
  22. A real consideration for that early 11:05 flight that recently happened to me. The airlines have no idea if one is on a cruise ship or sitting in a hotel. You’re a name in the computer bank. What happens when at the 60 day final flight reshuffle that 11:05 flight becomes a 10:38 flight? Where and how are you in the pool of passengers to be notified of the change? What options will be left if you don’t find out until a week after the change was made? I was to be sitting in a hotel , so no big deal, I leave earlier. May not be an option from the ship.
  23. I flew three times to Europe in 22. Coming back from Amsterdam was the worst. 3 hours from check in to gate. That’s counting from when we actually got to the check in counter, not the line for check in, and we were BC! We got there very early and it got worse. There were no “ next” flights on any of those days. Every flight we were on was overbooked with people being bounced, typically to another day.Easiest way to be bounced? Show up at the check in counter at less than an hour preflight. Automatic bounce. It may as well been two hours pre, because you wouldn’t make the gate anyway. Rome airport is a zoo. It’s even confusing on where to even get in line to drop bags and check in. Then security. If you feel lucky, then go for it. If you miss your flight, don’t blame Oceania. You’ve been sufficiently warned.
  24. I’ve only flown out of Rome twice and both times it was a zoo. It’s about a 45 minute drive from the pier. I think you’re cutting it to close for comfort especially since on both occasions we didn’t deboard until closer to 8:30-8:45.
  25. If you go to Waves for lunch at noon and order beer WiTH your lunch, they typically aren’t going to allow you to continuously order more beer, on the Package , until 4:00 as you dabble over the left over fries. Sorry if that offends some.
