Sea Princess Problems and more problems but Princess generous

After missing 2 ports from the original planned itinerary for which we were given some obc and then having to stay in Singapore extra time we hoped to get into Benoa but we have missed it.

The weather in Koh Samui is rather bad with huge rain storms and the 25 minute tender trip (when we could actually get on it) took 1.5 hours instead. Therefore we did not leave Koh Samui until 8pm instead of 4pm. This - together with the still unmended engine problems made us late.

In addition there was a medical emergency so we changed course to take two passengers to an island for medical assistance,.

Now we are told no Benoa. But we have been given a further $100 obc each plus 50% of the cost of this cruise against another cruise to be booked before the end of 2015.

Quite generous of them although of course the whole engine problem has been ongoing for 6 months,.

Now we need to find a cruise to take. However I shall not be taking it on the Sea Princess as the state of the ship is very poor indeed with rust everywhere and the lack of upkeep sadly showing her up.

The Dawn and the Sun are good ships in good cojndition and I will look to them or the Diamond I think.

Its doing the world cruise before it goes to dry dock.

By the look of things not many people are booking segments of the world cruise on this ship. Not only the problems it has but the cost of each segment is very high

It been somewhat interesting to read of all these problems with the Sea Princess (other threads also). We cruised on her over Christmas last year and everything was fine so all that is going wrong must have only happened over recent months. The only concerns we had were that all the windows in the dining room were fithly and the chairs in the bars needed some felts on them to stop the terrible noise of people dragging the chairs across the marble floors. Its not a good look for Princess if they continue to delay fixing the problems.:)

Why should they take time to fix it? The cruises are filled and they get by by just giving a pittance of obc for relief. Pretty sad. :(

Been going on for months.

I do not consider getting a cruise for a reduction of 50% of what we paid for this cruise a pittance Particularly when they could have said weather and medical is not our problem - be fair:D

Looks like the cruise scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled now. The same offer has been extended to passengers scheduled for that cruise, but no doubt there are a lot more disappointed folks.

How sad! :(

They'll be compensated but there will still be many very disappointed passengers who may be on a once in a lifetime journey. Princess needs to improve the reliability of their ships in Australia because not everyone has flexibility to change sailing dates. Apparently many of the passengers are from Aus/NZ & even though we'd like to sail around Aus/NZ that won't be with Princess until the reliability of their Sun-class ships greatly improves.

A shame Yvonne they have had such problems - maybe you might have to check out the 42 night on the Sun to China and Japan, in April next year - we are doing it. This is Kathy from the Indian Ocean cruise in 2011 - we could have fun all over again.
