late 30's - considering Princess- thoughts please

This question comes up to often on the Princess boards..by 30 somethings....

35 years ago....when I was 20 something I went on my first cruise and never even though about demographics.

When I was 30 something, I took my kids on cruises and never thought about kids clubs.

When I was 40 something, I started doing river cruises, talk about being the youngest.

I won't go on.....:D;) but, will say most of my decision making was done without a group forum.

OP...you say the price is right, u can drive to the port......go for it.....in all my years of travel...even with my parents when I was a kid....I don't remember once on a escorted tour or cruise...that I did not have a wonderful time.

BTW 20 years ago when DH & I took our first Princess cruise To Alaska we were some of the youngest on the trip....

Fast forward to last month my 2nd cruise to Alaska cruise with my just 30 something son. There were many 20 &30 somethings on our ship, several extended families...and many 70 & above...few in my age group....50-60s.

OMG!!! That photo from Spring Break....

We. had to cancel our cruise on the Regal at the end of Feb, and go with the already planned date later this year.

I wonder if the last week in Feb would have been that swamped with Spring Breakers!!!!

Of course, this would be a full week cruise, not a shortie, that Princess does not seem to be doing so much.

While I can see the point about over-planning....

These days, with the huge amount of travel, crowded to the point of claustrophobia family vacation weeks... etc...

I have absolutely NO problem with planning.

Sometimes planning and timing can make ALL the difference!!!!

This can have a big impact on the over-all experience.

I'm 49 and I find Princess boring, but I am an active person. My husband likes to sit on the balcony or play bingo but just mainly wants to relax and he loves Princess. If you've been on HAL you should have a taste of somewhat of what Princess is like.

I think I figured it out!

Here's a picture of the pool area on the Emerald cruise in March 2016.

we did a 'spring break cruise' - not on Princess - a little 3 day out of Port Canaveral back in 2009.. we were easily in the top 2% age demographic...

such a fun cruise...the onboard 'talent' was amazing for both me and my wife;p

lots of shorts and sundresses in the 'mdr' at night

we only saw one person kinda get out of hand - in the casino - which was quickly taken care of...

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh - to be young again...:halo:

We're in the same boat- literally. We just booked this exact same cruise, and are in our mid-thirties. Usually we sail DCL, but since this trip is going to be just me and the husband, we're branching out. I'm a *little* worried about the crowd - we have taken 1 other Princess cruise before, 12 years ago, and the demographic was definitely much older, but we still had a blast. At the end of the day, were mostly going to relax, so I'm hopeful it will fit the bill. :)

Was that on the Emerald in March 2016 that had the 700 spring-breakers?? We were on that one!! Never saw so many bodies at the pool & the bars!! I have a picture I could post, but haven't figured out how to do it!!

I agree - would not have been surprised to see that group on Carnival - totally out of the "Princess" experience!

Yes, that was one heck of a cruise if you wanted to get a cocktail! Never saw lines like that at Crooners. Also never thought that someone would throw up on my foot prior to even learning Fort Lauderdale!!

You'll find no shortage of opportunity for relaxation. Lots of quiet spaces on board.
