BballinQT24 Posted October 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2009 I've never done breakfast or lunch in the main dining room and we plan on doing it some days on our upcoming cruise. I have a question about the seating though. Is it possible to get a table for two during breakfast and lunch? Or do they just sit you at a table with other people? cherylandtk Posted October 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2009 They will usually try to fill whatever table is currently being seated..but if you nicely ask for a private table for two they will usually accomodate you.
-Lew- Posted October 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2009 Just ask. If there's one available they'll give it to you. Lew
cubfan63 Posted October 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2009 I travel solo and prefer to be alone at breakfast. I've had no problems in the MDR being seated alone at a table for two then or when I wanted to eat alone for lunch or at dinner (anytime).
paul929207 Posted October 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 11, 2009 All you need to do is ask. They nrmally just add people to fill tables, but will put you alone if you want.
caber Posted October 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2009 We mostly ask for a table for two at breakfast. There has never been a problem. Lots of people don`t want to chat first thing in the morning.
Cruisers from WA Posted October 11, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2009 We always eat at a table for 2 for embarkation lunch, breakfast and lunch, and dinner every day of our cruise....we prefer it over the buffet....
Iamcruzin Posted October 11, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2009 My wife and I ususally eat in the buffet for breakfast and lunch but one morning we had a late excursion and decided to eat in the MDR. We were seated at a table for 2 without asking for one. Personally I prefer the buffet. The service in the MDR was slow and I feel like there were more choices at the buffet. We do prefer to have dinner in the MDR than at the buffet.
ssbeagle Posted October 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2009 On our last cruise we were always asked if we wanted to share or sit at a table for two. Most of the time we took sharing but occasionally I didn't feel like it so we chose a table for two.
Sea42 Posted December 19, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2009 Can you tell me what the hours are for breakfast in the MDR? Do the hours change depending on what time the ship gets in to port on different days? Thanks!

paul929207 Posted December 19, 2009 #13 Share Posted December 19, 2009 There is a menu for both. The breakfast menu is the same each day except for the daily special (eggs benedict, etc). It include juice, fruit, eggs, meat, cereal, etc. The lunch menu is different each day.

Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted December 19, 2009 #15 Share Posted December 19, 2009 We have gone to the dining room many times for lunch and always asked to be seated at a table for two. Only one time were we refused, but the dining room must have been really busy that day. Every other time, we were seated at a table for 2 with no problems! Have fun! :)
CanuckCurlers Posted December 20, 2009 #16 Share Posted December 20, 2009 There is a menu for both. The breakfast menu is the same each day except for the daily special (eggs benedict, etc). It include juice, fruit, eggs, meat, cereal, etc. The lunch menu is different each day. There is a menu, however if there is something that you enjoy don't be afraid to ask. My DH was able to get Eggs Benedict on days it was not on the menu and my SIL who is vegan was able to get toast and peanut butter and fruit each morning. Often all you have to do is ask. Kiwi Kruzer Posted December 20, 2009 #17 Share Posted December 20, 2009 We ask for a table for two in the dining room for breakfast and lunch on sea days, and have always got one. The only time we were told that none were available, we simply said OK, How long before one comes up, we are prepared to wait and come back, and guess what...... they just happened to find one :D
jondfk Posted December 20, 2009 #18 Share Posted December 20, 2009 I don't know, on our last cruise we asked for a table for two on 10 days out of 14 and never once did we get one. Perhaps we weren't insistent enough - the priority seems to be seating the "next" table. Certainly some were seated in deuces, just not us. I'll let you know if it goes different on Coral when we board in two days! ;)

sunshine3360 Posted December 21, 2009 #21 Share Posted December 21, 2009 There is always some fresh strawberries for breakfast and each day a new special. There was a huge yelling match on our last cruise . A man wanted eggs benedict and they said the didn't have it that day. The man was obnoxious and I do not beleive he ever got it. Surprised to hear you could get it every day. I know I have gotten food not on the menu several times, but if they couldn't, I could find something else.We try to eat breakfast in the main dining roon whenever possible. I like the service. Lunch we perfer International cafe, but have eaten enough in MDR to know it is very nice. We always ask for a table for 2. Don't always get it, but usually.
