Martita B. Posted November 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Dan Happy to hear of your marvelous cruise on the gorgeous Odyssey! So many of our favorites, both Staff, Crew & Guests aboard. Have you visited with the Millers? I do hope they are enjoying the Big Sister ~~~ Please ask Capt. Dexter about his new ranch in Texas! Yes, the good Captain is now a Texas land Baron ~~~I presented him a deed of land at the Texas Fling Ding party on the Odyssey Maiden TA. He was thrilled ~~(he owns a big spread.....1 square inch of TEXAS) Is Guenter aboard ? And my dear friend, Karl, Maitre'D? Please tell both I send huge hug's ~~ Continue to have a grand time ~~and post when you aren't having too much fun & phooey ~~:p Martita B

Martita B. Posted November 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Matt Yes, Queenie A. disembarked the Odyssey in Ft Laud after spending 6 months on the Pride, then transferring to the Odyssey for 5 months. She'll board Jan. 5th for the Odyssey World Cruise. I talked to her Sunday ~~she's busy at the funeral home and enjoying her daughter and her family. Martita B. Posted November 19, 2009 #9 Share Posted November 19, 2009 Dan You might ask Guenter if the fabulous Winter Garden Suite on Deck 7 is vacant ~~if it is, then also tack on small adjoining suite 745. You could have a large group for your festive holiday party!:D Continue to have a wonderful time! Every morning I check Cruise Calendar and then go to the web cams to view the big sister Odyssey. Lookin' good! 'Please go to "Foxy's" in a few days on Josh Van Dyke ~~I know you'll want to purchase a Tee-shirt and to hear him sing!! Have lots of fun ~~ Martita B. JaneBP Posted November 19, 2009 #10 Share Posted November 19, 2009 >"Guenter is the Hotman this cruise, and is charming as ever." How wonderful. Will he be the HM in December? If so, please let him know I am arriving and will be hosting the CC 'Meet and Greet' at the Sky Bar (with or without the vibrations) on 12/11 at 4:40! (A prior email was sent to the HM by the HM on the Legend a week or so ago just in case.) Thanks a lot. Can't wait to hear more!
LN50 Posted November 20, 2009 #11 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Great to hear that you are having a good time, cannot wait for the posts, it makes me feel that I am enjoying part of the atmosphere with other travellers... and I dream of when I can next be onboard..... Just a query I have seen the term 'Hotman' several times, what does this mean is it the cruise director or hotel manager... just a bit confused is this a US term? Perhaps someone will let me know. Happy sailing Linda
Martita B. Posted November 20, 2009 #12 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Linda Sorry for the confusion ~~"Hot Man" is the Hotel Manager. I'm sometimes a 'lit lazy in typing~~~;) The Hotel Manager aboard the Odyssey now is Guenter ~~a favorite of Seabournites. He's tops!:p But then, so is "Lulu" (Pride) and Joerg Grossman (Spirit) Dan, another excellent place for you to host a cocktail affair is the Observation Lounge. I call it "The Crow's Nest" ~~a gorgeous all glass room at the top of the ship. I hosted the "Texas Fling Ding" here and although it was crowded I think everyone had a fine, fun time. I'll be watching the Odyssey everyday from Island webcams! Have lots of fun!:D Martita B.
MARIANH Posted November 20, 2009 #13 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Hi As I would hope, and indeed expect, there are many complimentary reviews about the new Seabourn ship. However there are increasingly some worrying negative comments coming forward, particularly on the Odyssey drydock thread. The issues seem to be around vibration and patchy service from"overworked staff". As we will be joining the 10 December cruise, it would be helpful to have a view on these two issues from passengers currently aboard. Is anyone able to help? Many thanks. tulip 1 Posted November 20, 2009 #14 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Hi Dan, We also had a great time in October. I love the ship. I found the food and wines were outstanding. Some people might have a few small issues, so did I, but I found overall, the ship and staff are great. I would highly recommend to everybody that they should try the new ship and have a great time. Enjoy yourself and let us know what you think.
LN50 Posted November 20, 2009 #15 Share Posted November 20, 2009 Hi Martita, Thank you for the clarification of 'Hotman' it is good to learn the phrases used by you long standing cruisers. We met Joerg on his hosted table on the Spirit, he is very pleasant and charming, hopefully I will meet others on future cruises. We met D & J who were in your photos on the TA, unfortunately it was just on our last night, they are lovely people. I adore her earrings!!! maybe we will meet one day. thank you again Linda
JaneBP Posted November 20, 2009 #16 Share Posted November 20, 2009 >"As we will be joining the 10 December cruise" Don't forget to join other CC members and lurkers at a 'Meet and Greet' at the Sky Bar on Friday the 11th at the Sky Bar at 4:30. Put some nicknames and faces together! (It's the first sea day and there will still be time to prepare for what will probably be the Captain's Welcome Party and Formal Dinner.) Martita B. Posted November 22, 2009 #23 Share Posted November 22, 2009 Dan & Odyssey Sailor's Be sure and "go up the hill (main street)" at Gustavia, St Bart's to "'Le Select Cantina" ~~Jimmy Buffet's favorite Islands bar. He wrote "Cheese Burgers in Paradise" under the trees :D~~You may see several celebrities dining here as they visit St Bart's during Nov. & Dec. Go, sit outdoors, people watch and drink a beer ~ Goldfinger's next door is also worth a visit ~~! Perfumes upstairs are real bargains ~~duty free and a huge selection. The wine shop on Main Street is also a fun stop. Have a continued grrrreat holiday voyage! Thinking of all of you! Martita B.
