paul929207 Posted December 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2009 I have only been on three lines (Carnival, NCL and Princess), so it was easy to vote for Princess.
above sea level cruiser Posted December 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2009 and mine is Costa - course that was ten years ago but NCL and RCL have yet to beat it! Maybe it was because Costa was our first cruise?

Andee Posted December 10, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 10, 2009 As often happens, I agree with LHT28--Oceania has the best cruise food that we've experienced. We've only sailed Celebrity, Oceania, Orient, & Princess.

Rare LHT28 Posted December 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Andee, pretty high class. They are not your mass market line but they do have a good product I do not think they are high class just deluxe or premium quality Lyn
JunPOA Posted December 10, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 10, 2009 I voted HAL only because I have experience with all those listed including HAL but not Princess. BUT , the winner for me is NOT listed, which is Seabourn. Leah
kitty9 Posted December 10, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 10, 2009 If you follow the travel publications, you would see that Crystal consistently gets the award for best food. I've been on most lines out there, and would agree about Crystal and would add Seabourn to the list of excellent food. IMHO, it's difficult to answer this question if you've only been on one line. How do you compare? It's like saying vanilla ice cream is the best when you've never tasted any other dessert. Plus, food is very subjective. I find that most food on mass market ships is equal to decent banquet food. You're not going to get gourmet food when you have to prepare 3000+ meals. But if you push the issue, I think Celebrity and Princess have consistently decent food, above lines like NCL, Costa and MSC.
sillysailor 1955 Posted December 10, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Cruised on 3 different lines. Food is rated as following #1 Princess #2 HAL #3 NCL

Happy ks Posted December 10, 2009 #15 Share Posted December 10, 2009 I've only been on 3 of the lines listed and have to say, so far they are all pretty much the same. Cruise food, just like banquet food. I've sailed on a few other lines not mentioned and the only real difference was that NCL had horrid food in their main dining room. Krazy Kruizers Posted December 10, 2009 #16 Share Posted December 10, 2009 We have enjoyed the food on HAL. But food is subjective. What you may like, I may not like.
CapeCodCruiser Posted December 10, 2009 #17 Share Posted December 10, 2009 There is really no comparison between the mass market lines and the high end lines but among mass market lines DH & rate as follows: Costa Carnival NCL Princess
GORDONCHICK Posted December 10, 2009 #18 Share Posted December 10, 2009 I don't know how to answer that question the way it is posed. Do you mean taste (which is purely subjective)? What about presentation? Quality? Options? Variety? And are we talking about the MDR, buffet, specialty restaurants, etc?

tip Posted December 11, 2009 #22 Share Posted December 11, 2009 We have been on 18 cruises and have sailed on Carnival, HAL, NCL, Premier, Princess, and RCCL. Believe it or not "The One Who Must Be Obeyed" and I feel that Premier (now defunct) had the best food. The cooks on NCL have never seen a rare piece of meat! bob brown Posted December 12, 2009 #25 Share Posted December 12, 2009 I can easily point to my dinner in the specialty Ocean Liner Restaurant aboard the Celebrity Constellation of table side prepared, Steak Diane, as the best dinner I have ever eaten at sea. the "butterfly service" presentation was spectacular. The food was delicious and the authentic decor was fascinating.
