pattiea Posted July 22, 2010 #276 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I must tell you how much I'm enjoying your reports this week - it's gotten so (even tho I don't know you) I can almost hear someone talking about a mile a minute to make sure she says it all...lol. We are sailing her in the very near future (woohoo) and I'm noting some of the things you are saying - thanks!! Enjoy your last couple days (of that I have no doubt..lol). -Pattie

Tobyhilda Posted July 22, 2010 #279 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Denise, you are definitely professional. RCCL should pay you, for your comments, your advertising all the functions, shows, restaurants and so forth. You are better than any travel agent I ever went to,,,,you write from the heart, and not from the "Pocketbook" You have no idea how many people you have excited, about Oasis of Seas.... My home has been neglected these past few days, No cleaning, no washing, no ironing, no cooking, just reading your wonderful thread on Oasis, is a full time job...I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT,,,,Thanks again....Tobyhilda

dzboss1 Posted July 22, 2010 Author #284 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Again, good morning from the fabulous OASIS!! Crazy me is down here before both eyes are open posting...... Another great night last night!!! Saw Frozen in Time (8:30), the ice show. Great costumes, great music, great skating! So much fun!! Summer Breeze (10:15)at the aqua theater was so much fun too. Great music (rock) and singing and I have to tell you, to be on a ship viewing all of this magic sitting outside in this kind of theater is beyond words! How lucky are those before and after me that are experiencing this!! The bad part is it started raining about 15 minutes before it was over and they had to stop. Loved it while we had it!! Then we went ot the Diamond lounge to sit on the balcony and watch the 70s party (11:15). The promenade was PACKED. We could still see the festivities pretty good so I was happy up there. Great music and singers and entertainment. I was rocking!! We got back to the room about 1:30....never even made it to the casino! I may seem awake, but I not...lol..so I can't tell you my day's plans yet. I "think" the sun is out, but lots of clouds out there so not sure. NEED THAT SUN!!! But what I want is to get to the pool and then plan out my day. How can this be coming to an end!! In some respects it seems like we have been on for weeks...and in others, we just boarded!! The rest of the world seems distant and that's good, but my life does exist off the ship, and I do need to get back to it. Did I just say that!!??? Slap me now!!:eek: But I am not quite ready yet!! I need 10 days...not 7.

Thank you so much for taking us along on your cruise. Sitting in the Aqua Theater with a gentle breeze and a Pina Colada in hand has got to rank in my top relaxing things in life. I would be happy to experience it on land, but TO BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO ENJOY IT WHILE ON A CRUISE is, as you've said, beyond words. You can't come home. We need you to stay there!!! :) Thankfully, you'll have these memories for a long time. I was on the Oasis in April, and unlike any other cruise, I still remember nearly every detail 3 months later. bigeagle12 Posted July 22, 2010 #287 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Denise, Have been reading this thread since day 1 .. excellent job. Four observations: RCI should be paying you for all this wonderful publicity. You are proof that in spite of the weather a cruise is what you make of it (tired of people blaming a bad cruise on weather, bad food, rude people, chipped paint on their balcony, etc) We enjoy the Voyager class ships and have stayed away from the Oasis and the Freedom class. After reading your thread we are booking the Oasis while we are on our Alaskan cruise. I will mention your name and recommend they give you an OBC :D I start work every morning at 7 am and am glued to CruiseCritic waiting for your first post
cynt Posted July 22, 2010 #288 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I'm cruising on the LOS Oct 17 but you have me inching to trade ships to the Oasis. This morning I finally broke down, checked the dates and priced it. Oasis departs on the 15th which is a bummer because we have already purchased our airfare and we fly in on the 16th. We haven't made our final payment and it's an additional $439 in total for the both of us to change our reservation to the Oasis. I'm still pondering the thought. I might check to see how much it will cost to change my flight. LOL!! This would be an awesome surprise to my BF. Hmmmm. Thanks for the wonderful review. But you have me TRIPPING!!! I don't know if I can read any more. LOL!!!

emmy Posted July 22, 2010 #290 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Oasis better depart on the 16th, or we're in trouble! I'll be there with you on Oct 16:)
cynt Posted July 22, 2010 #291 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Oasis better depart on the 16th, or we're in trouble! Thank you MM. I was looking at October 2011. The Oct 2010 does depart on the 16th but to change it is an additional $1,138.22. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. LOL!! We got such a great rate for the LOS. Ok, so now I can go back to enjoying dzboss's review.
dzboss1 Posted July 22, 2010 Author #292 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I am back because I can't wake up this morning and needed the delicious coffee in the concierge. I have to tell you again these 2 guys are WONDERFUL!!!!! We have had so many great chats with them that they feel like familiy! A great great place to hang and have a meal! Make sure, for anyone cruising right after me, that you tell them I said so too!!! They make or may not remember our names, but if you mention the CC poster...oh they will remember!!!!!! xoxo to them!!! I am sad to report it is RAINING!!! But oh well...there are a list of things I we can do regardless!! (I just LOVE the sun so that is always a little dissapointment) Windjamming ~~~ OMG! Hubby and I had Pina Coladas (virgin) while watching too!!!! It seemed to call for it didn't it??!! bigeagle12 ~~~ You are too sweet! And yes, I always make the best of whatever the situation is on a cruise and especially this ship. I know I am lucky to be on her. Everything can't be perfect, and it isn't (99% is good though, right??!! lol ;)), but yet this is a PERFECT cruise! Go figure! If you sweat the small stuff, you miss the joy of things. The cruise will be over before you know it!! So so so many things have exceeded my expectations (actually almost everything has!!), and so few have maybe just met them or maybe fell a tad short. But you won't hear them from me! They are unimportant and have nothing to do with the most amazing ship and cruise. It cannot come close to overshadowing the entertainment and shows and people and beauty and wonder. As enthusiastic and over the top I have sounded about this ship and cruise, really does not do justice how happy I am to be experiencing this! Off for my day on the ship...... Tobyhilda Posted July 22, 2010 #293 Share Posted July 22, 2010 What is the situation with formal nights???Are the men wearing tux???actually how formal is it. It seems the last couple cruises, men were more informal, suits and tie, or jacket and tie. My husband ALWAYS brought a tux, because, 4 times, we had dinner with Capt..... but now he prefers not to bring a tux. Denise, what is name of capt???Thanks for sharing ..Love every second of your posting. Tobyhilda

dzboss1 Posted July 22, 2010 Author #297 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Our captain is Thomas "Thor" Thorolysen. Toby ~~~~~ hmmmmmm....hate to dicuss the dreaded "clothing" topic, as it is the most heated topic on CC, but you asked and since I shy away from nothing.... I will state MY simple opinion, and also what I saw on formal night, and other nights for that matter. I hope no one comments on it and opens anything negative or heated. Based on who has posted thus far, I am sure no one will. Formal night has been, is, and will always be a mixed bag. Some people LOVE to dress up and they should! Some people don't like to and they should. Clothing does not alter my own experience or change how my food tastes. I don't care what anyone else wears, and they shouldn't care what I wear. Period. What I saw..... Formal night....I saw tuxes (though not the majority) and yes I saw jeans, though not many on that particular night. Jeans are accepted in the dinning room. No one wearing them is turned away! Other nights.....more jeans seen than formal nights of course, but a small percentage. There are some men who I see wear jackets and ties EVERY NIGHT and some women are dressed to the max each night! Good for them! They look wonderful. After dinner, jeans are much more noticable of course. And guess what....good for them! They look wonderful!!:D If you look in your mirror before you go to dinner and you like what you see...then shut off the light, put the make up room card in, and go have a great meal and night!! dzboss1 Posted July 22, 2010 Author #298 Share Posted July 22, 2010 After I posted earlier I went to the pool. Me and dozens and dozens sat out there IN THE RAIN!! lol We were hoping and waiting for sun...but the report is not great for today or tomorrow but the rain has stopped. Spent the time there reading (first time I have read anything on this ship!!) and had some great chats with my ship mates. Hubby and I met for a quick lunch and he headed to the casino and i am off to join him for the slots tourney! Catch you all later......
CruisingCaraCat Posted July 22, 2010 #299 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Much thanks dzboss1 for this terrific daily review. We were on the Oasis in April and I must say I agree with everyting you are saying. I am getting antsy for another cruise (going in October on the Voyager) and reading threads like this certainly help me get through the waiting period. The concierge lounge is wonderful isn't it and to have your personal (practically) waiter bring you whatever you want for breakfast while sipping a great coffee and checking out the boardwalk cannot be beat. Reyno was also the lounge manager while we were on but I think Fernando was the Diamond manager. I actually enjoyed the Diamond 'happy' hour a bit more than the Concierge lounge only beacuse there were usually more people there ( I hate to drink alone). My two cents on the dining on Oasis, we did MTD and did not eat in the main dining room once the whole cruise. We did it all from 150 to chef's table, Giovanis, Solarium, Izumi, etc. etc. etc. In my opinion 150 was by far the best and the Solarium was second but all meals were very enjoyable. Maggie 3 Posted July 22, 2010 #300 Share Posted July 22, 2010 Hi, My husband and I are going on The Oasis on August 7. We have been on many cruises but not The Oasis I don't care where we go on this cruise I think on this cruise the ship is the destination. I feel the same way you do about what people wear I don't care and i sure hope they don't care about what I have on. I am there to have fun . Can you tell me about the Casino do they have fun 21 and how large is it? You sound like a fun person I wish you would be on our cruise. Hope you have fun the rest of your trip.
