Princess Secrets they Don't Tell You

I'm a little confused. Everywhere on this board I read that bringing wine on board is permissible and even states this in the cruise contract. I know other lines don't allow it but in all my research as a Princess newbie I've read that you can bring wine, champagne, soda/pop, or water on board, per Princess. I don't want to start a big debate about that here, just looking for soemone to confirmthis, as there are now 2 posts by seperate posters joking about "who would ever bring wine onboard?"

Just want to clear it up for us newbs - also it might be considered a tip/secret to some! :)

You are correct. Yo ucan bringwine, champagne, soda/pop and water onboard Princess ships.

When i board in FLL i bring beer in my backpack from the nearby store when i stay pre-cruise.I don't drink wine, etc on a cruise.:)

I've seen people mention that wine, champagne, soda and water are ok to bring on board. Is beer also permitted? That would make my husband very happy! Also, is it cans only? Or have people brought bottled beer on board?

The Passage Contract says you cannot carry beer onboard. However, this rule is rarely enforced.

Used playing cards can be bought from the Casino cage - they were 2$ on the Grand last week.

And has anyone mentioned that if you've finished with your own book, there is a little cupboard in the library for 'passenger exchange'? This is open even when the rest of the library shelves are locked and - particularly at the beginning and the end of the cruise - you can find an interesting selection of those paperbacks which people have read and don't want to carry home.

Yes, wine and champagne are definitely allowed. I'm sorry for the confusion. I had the pleasure of meeting Tim and his wife IRL and I was joking with him because he was kind enough to share his on board wine with me.

By "did you tell anyone or just leave," I'm thinking you mean that he did what I thought was a really nice thing? Because the casino was "closed" and there was no one there except the woman and the man.

If you mean, and I'm guessing, did I tell anyone what a nice thing he did for me, the answer is no.

I felt a little indifferent about the whole thing so I wanted to bounce it off my husband first. He knew why I felt kind of funny about it because after I explained it to him, he concurred with my gut feeling that the "powers that be" might not be quite as thrilled about his kind gesture as I was....someone (?) was out $6 or $10 for that transaction, or lack of transaction, as a result of that man's help. My husband said it might be better not to say anything because we know that many staff get in trouble for what appears to be such insignificant things. We didn't want to risk getting him in trouble for doing such a nice thing.

I certainly let him know how very thoughtful it was for him to help me.

So if that is what you meant, then I guess you could say "I just left." But believe it or not, some serious thought went into whether or not we should elevate our gratitude towards his endeavor. We realized that just because we thought it was so nice--his superiors might not feel the same because it always seems to be about the bottom dollar.

:)

Just kidding. Like you received free cash. :D

Just didn't come across that way in my post.

Is it something we should "hide" in our bags or can we put a tag on it like we would water. Just curious as my upcoming cruise is my first on Princess and it would be great to have a six pack of Newcastle to enjoy on my balcony:D

Also, I had ready somehwere that you could request a corkscrew delivered to your room. Is this possible to would they charge you the corkage fee?

I really couldn't tell what you meant. Your post is a perfect example of how it made perfect sense to you and meant something entirely different to me (someone else).

Funny thing....my husband read it and immediately thought you were wondering if I had let someone know what a good deed this man had done for me. I thought the same thing.

But I am sure if you showed the post to someone that enjoyed gambling, they would take it as the way you meant it. Perception, experiences, all that kind of stuff really plays a part in how something is read, huh? I find it fascinating because I totally see how you were meaning it to read...

But yes, I left immediately. Neither my husband nor myself find any enjoyment in gambling. It's just not fun for either of us.

We usually bring our own corkscrew but once we forgot and the cabin steward delivered one for our use for the whole week. The corkage fee sometimes applies in the dining room but not in your cabin.

(Unlike Norwegian who charges you a corage fee just after you clear security !! )

Last time we cruised, the escargot in the dining room was not on the menu and one only learned of it the night it was offered if the waiter mentioned it. Next time I'm asking a head waiter on the first day of our cruise when it will be offered. Not willing to take a chance of missing it...a cruise without escargot is just a boat ride.

I asked for it several times during our last cruise and had no problems getting it.....:):):)

No need to hide anything just be discreet.

Yes just ask your Steward/room service for a corkscrew.

No corkage fee in your room just if you bring the bottle to the DR. :)

I bring packets of Crystal Light [so light to carry] and mix it with water and ice from the buffet and, I'm all set with my drink.

You can bring an insulated mug [also very light] and use that to put your ice tea or your soda in. We also bring cans of caffeine-free diet coke.

A very nice man that worked in the casino showed me how to get cash out of the poker machines!!!! It was pretty cool...it took him all of 45 seconds to get me $200 in cash w/out costing me a penny.

I could tell that the woman that I was initially asking would not have helped me do this....but this young man kind of swooped in and took over and helped me and I thought he was so nice for doing that!

:)

Was this cash put on your sail card? Does the casino usually charge you a fee when you get cash to gamble with? On another ship we always get money in the casino put on our sail card(only when open though) and then go to cashier and cash out the card. Never a charge. Does Princess work the same way? We do this so we don't have to carry alot of cash on us. This young man was very kind to you:)
