I was just in touch with Lisa McDaniel re: the Military Discount, and if you are receiving OBC for being a Shareholder you do not qualify for the MD. In other words, it is one or the other, which makes sense I guess. :(

I asked yesterday if it were combinable with other offers and was told yes. I am not a shareholder so that doesnt affect me....but asked anyways. Maybe they should post the guidelines on their website.

Veggie59,

Do you live near a base where you can get one (ID)?

There used to be one near us.....it closed about 13 years ago. I am hoping the passport is okay. They have the DD214.....what else do they need? On other cruiselines they only needed the DD214.

Bigjer received the exact same info I just got from my TA--after she called Princess. She was very happy to have this new information and is going to contact some of her clients to make them happy too.

Thanks to Cruise Crictic for giving us this valuable info. I told my DH I didn't want to hear any complaints about the time I spend here doing "research"!

If your husband is "Retired" military he really should have an ID card. If he is not retired he can not have a military ID card.

Thanks for the info. So, it seems that you can get shareholder benefits OR military benefits, but not both. That answers that question. ;)

He is not retired. He was in for 3 years active and 3 years reserve. I believe he falls under time of conflict also. He was in during the late 70's early 80's.

Thanks......I had called and asked if he had an old card and he said he didnt think so because they expire. He said his parents do because his dad is RETIRED military.

Cruise Critic is the best! I just called Liza (661-753-0305) and the process is really simple: as others have written, just fax or email your documentation to her, and voila! You get an OBC.

Just about anyone who is in the military, or had an honorable discharge qualifies. My husband was active duty Navy reserves and spent a year in Viet Nam - two years total "active duty", six years inactive reserves, and then he resigned from his commission; with his DD 214N he qualified for the OBC. You do not have to spend 20 years in the military and have the retired military status to qualify. We've also gotten the military discount on Carnival.

Thanks everyone for the postings!

Yes......just talked to Liza......we should be all set. She said she is a little behind on processing as she has got an influx of requests....wonder why? We sail on the 19th and she said we would probably be processed by the end of the week. :)

Attention all you draftee's still out there ::D

Yes, I was told by Princess , that your DD-214 Form , indicatiing honorable discharge following at least 2 years of service , is sufficient evidence .

Don't have to be a retired "Lifer"

Send in a copy (never the original) . :)

I fail to see why you can't get both a share holder credit and a military one. What does being an investor in the company have to do with defending their right to have a public company as opposed to a state owned one? I trust them with my money and they should trust me (and show it) to defend their business. This is one of those "mountains to die on" for me and I intend to pursue this higher.

Just got off the phone with Liza. She does need the DD214 as well as the retired military ID card. For those of you with less than 20 yrs service, not sure what type of ID you'll need to fax in. Perhaps just a photo ID showing it is indeed you. By the way, the OBC is $250, not $100 for a 14 day cruise. She said this is over and above any FC OBC we may have. Woo-hoo! Thanks Princess!

Yes......up to 6 days is $50, 7 days to 13 days is $100, and 14 days and higher is $250. Oh and I sent a copy of my husbands passport as he has no ID to send. She said that they need the DD214 and some other photo proof of ID.
