erdoran Posted February 7, 2018 #76 Share Posted February 7, 2018 My first (and only) slot pull was on the Epic in I think 2010 or 2011. The group had I think $2100 and total winnings were somewhere around $100. Not profit. We put $2100 in, took $100 out. That cured me of wanting to gamble on a cruise. I’m not a big slot person; if I do gamble (rarely) it’s blackjack. DH and I own two timeshares in Atlantic City on the Boarwalk and we never go to the casinos. jfarri4230 Posted February 7, 2018 #77 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Just got back from a week on the Eurodam. The first night a fellow won $10K betting $1 on video keno. They gave it to him in cash, which he promptly put in a safety deposit box at Guest Services until the end of the cruise.
fastpitchdad Posted February 7, 2018 #78 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Gambling on a cruise ship is a bad bet, no pun intended. Much worse than a regulated casino in the states and other places. I worry about that with their slot machines. Most everything else should be the same. Even Video poker is dealt from a random clock although the pay tables might suck but at least you would know that before you put in any money. goldenrod Posted February 7, 2018 #79 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Back in the 1970’s we were on the Boheme they only had a small slot room with maybe 20 mechanical slots single coin only first time I had ever played a slot I won $75 dollar jackpot on single coin 10 cent machine. Back then they also paid out all the money they took in on Bingo! Unlike now. And a week cruise was $299 each! RickinNYC Posted February 7, 2018 #80 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I don't recall the total amount I won on a cruise aboard the Breakaway, but it seemed every evening, I'd put a few bucks in a slot machine and would end up winning a few hundred dollars. It became almost kind of a joke among my friends/husband. They'd point at a machine and tell me to put a back in to see what happened. Of course, it didn't work every single time, but I'll never forget when one friend had put in about $50 into one machine, demanded I put in some money, stuck in a dollar and I won about $800 on one pull. Collectively, on that cruise, I did win enough to pay for that trip, as well as all onboard expenses, buy a few future cruise credits and our spending money on excursions. Prior to that, and since then? Big fat nothing.
Pauser Posted February 7, 2018 #81 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I have twice hit jackpots on cruise ships - both on NCL ships (Dawn & Jewel). One was more than $2,000 and the other was more than $1,000.
Flatbush Flyer Posted February 7, 2018 #82 Share Posted February 7, 2018 The stories about all the 'winning' are a bit disingenuous because the teller rarely admits how much they lost in the machine before they 'won'. If you drop $1000 into a machine over an hour or two then hit a big jackpot of $800 you still lost $200. Most people conveniently leave that part out because it ruins the story. Gambling on a cruise ship is a bad bet, no pun intended. Much worse than a regulated casino in the states and other places. stanmoto98 Posted February 7, 2018 #83 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I play video poker almost exclusively and have hit a handful of Royal Flushes on both dollar and quarter machines. My wife hit on a quarter Quick Hits machine last cruise for $1400+.
vent1020 Posted February 7, 2018 #84 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I hit $358 on the quarter machine on the Jewel in March of 2009. Immediately cashed it out and the next morning booked my next cruise, which I'm going on in November! :D Photographic memory or do you never play? I wouldn't remember the exact amount I won even a year ago let alone 9 years ago. ;p
Twinzma Posted February 7, 2018 #85 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Not me. But my Cousin sitting on the machine next to me on first night hit almost $3,000. She then of course hits again sitting next to me a few days later $2,200. I did not win.....I lost BIG time. I don't think I will ever play slots again. jaxw17 Posted February 8, 2018 #92 Share Posted February 8, 2018 You sure will pay - NCL will produce the 1099. I found that out in 2003 when I won $5000 at bingo. Does that apply if you dont live in the USA

jakz2fun Posted February 9, 2018 #100 Share Posted February 9, 2018 My last cruise, I won enough that I left the cruise with more than I had when I went on it. I considered that a win, seeing how I was in the casino pretty much every day.
