forthe3boys Posted March 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2011 We are on a sold out cruise. This will be the first cruise for myself and my 3 boys. Anyone have any tips specific to a sold out cruise? Thanks, Amy
firefly333 Posted March 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Almost all cruises sell out that Iv been on. Carnival says they sail at 104% capacity (they use double occupancy to count, so pax 3/4/5 count toward the over 100%. Mostly its all a game, as pretty much all cruises sell out of the mainline cruises, and if they arent, they add a senior last minute rate or a resident rate or whatever. ie its the norm. So dont get too excited because its sold out. Just do whatever you would have done otherwise.
CruiserBruce Posted March 1, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Almost all cruises are sold out, or so close you can't tell the difference. Ships are designed to handle their double occupancy capacity. If a lot of rooms have 3 or 4, you might notice, but it takes an experienced eye. What, specifically are you concerned about? KirkNC Posted March 1, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2011 No, nothing to be concerned about, happens all the time. Kirk
sail7seas Posted March 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2011 As the others have said, almost all the ships go out full these days. If it gets close to sail date and they have unsold cabins, they mark them down and do the upgrade dance until all the cabins are filled. Have a GREAT time. :)
smeyer418 Posted March 1, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2011 its rare than a cruise isn't at 100% if not really full full until 125-130% because they count the lower 2 in a room as full and many rooms can contain 3-4...so if it is only 100 it will not be too bad at 130 it gets crowded sometimes.... (on most ships you can find out the full full capacity by the US Coast guard paper near the entrance to the bridge deck that says what the full full is...) Putterdude Posted March 1, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2011 I agree, most ships sail sold out or very close to it. Where you will notice a press of people is on a cruise over Christmas when every berth that drops out of the ceiling or wall is occupied and every sofa bed is being slept on...that is when it is crowded. Krazy Kruizers Posted March 1, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 1, 2011 it is very rare for us to go on a cruise that isn't sold out most of the cruise lines do have a cap as to how many 3 and 4 passengers they will allow in the cabins thus exceeding the double occupany passenger quota
