Oceania exhorbitant transfer charges

We were thinking of the sailing from L.A. to Papeete. Oceania, with free air charges $125 per person for the transers.

That is a ripoff. what's the alternative especially in Papeete?

Depends where is your hotel or if you are going directly to the ship. Many hotels have a transfer service -- they a reasonable and should not exceed $40.

 

The airport is not too far from the port which is in downtown Papeete. Taxi ride is about $25 to $30 maximum.

You are not required to use the transfers nor the included air & hotel

Just cancel them & make alternative arrangements

You have to do what works best for you

That must be an exception as very few things are reasonably priced in FP, IME. :D

Will I need the local money for the taxi? When we were there before we didn't ride in any taxi's as the transfer was included with Regent. I'm assuming I will, I guess I'll get a little money in advance.

You probably will need local currency. They might take Euros (being French territory) but they are not likely to take US$ - they seem to be worthless these days.
