Concierge vs Aqua Class

I apologize if this is redundant but I can't find the previous thread. I'm looking at a cruise on the Summit and the price for a concierge class cabin and an aqua class are about the same. I've had a concierge class cabin before but am totally unfamiliar with aqua class. What's the difference?

I'll try and make it simple which it really is. AQ gets all of the Concierge amenities plus their own amenities. The primary benefit of AQ is Blu which is your own restaurant and replaces the Main Dining Room. Most believe the food in Blu is superior to that in the MDR and some consider it like eating in a Specialty restaurant every night for free.

Is the blu restaurant using the same menus as the main dining room, or are they different? Can you have the anytime dining if you are in the aqua class?

Different menus entirely.

Dining in Blu, despite what it says on the booking form, is always anytime.

You also have the option to eat in MDR if you wish (anytime dining) but on our cruise most people seemed delighted with Blu (as were we) and did not take advantage of that.

Blu has its own menu, which is different than the main dining room

and it is anytime dining in Blu.

Are you looking at the Summit or the Solstice? Summit doesn't have AQ class or are you testing fellow CCs to see if we read post thoroughly.

Thanks. I didn't realize that. The Constellation has gone thru the "refit" And does not have AQ cabins. The biggest reason for booking an AQ room is Blu, will the Summit have it?

For us it's Blu, we really enjoy eating there.

Yes, Summit will, Infinity will and Millennium will as well. I do believe

Constellation will in 2013....after these 3 ships are done I think I read

they are going back to Constellation for that sole purpose. I am sure

someone can confirm that (or correct me if I am wrong).

The one thing I do not understand is why is CC a higher price than AQ? It does not seem to make any sense if the benfits of AQ are greater. Is it because of the inferior position of the AQ cabins?

It's all a matter of supply and demand. Last year were got a CC for less than a balcony cabin. Sometimes, if they need to move some AQ cabins, they may be a better price.

Lois thanks for the info. I made the "assume";) mistake because I am aware of the changes to Connie regarding becoming a Solstice type ship, but w/no AQ.

Another reason AQ cabins are occasionally priced less is that many people prefer the Main Dining Room experience over Blu. Most people eating in Blu have small tables(a lot of 2 tops) therefore do not get to dine w/others as they would in the dining rooms.

Many of the Aqua class cabins are not located in the 'best' areas. Under the pool areas Celebrity did a very smart thing in giving these 'less desirable' cabins extra perks making them close to the CC cabins in price.

Interesting enough, we've stayed in 5 AQ cabins and only had 1 problem, the swinging door of the spa cafe above. We could not here the chairs being dragged in or out of the tables, but man those swinging doors were brutal at 6 am.

If anyone is concerned about noise from above AQ cabins or any other Solstice Class cabins, there is a Sticky and people have posted info on a lot cabins in this class. It really is very helpful.

skandls, what AQ cabin did you stay in where there pool deck noise problems? I'll avoid booking that one. Thanks.

We booked under another cabin - it was aft - I usually book midship. The deck plans show many of the AQ cabins under the pool deck. There are others who book under the spa so there is not a lot of late night 'chair moving'.

That wasn't how we experienced Blu. We asked a table for 2 and were assigned a table for 2. BUT ... there were 4 tables of 2 in a row with hardly 10 centimeters between every table. So it felt as if we were seated on a table of 8. Really not what we wanted. :(

Thats the reason we will not book Aquaclass again!

Please can someone clarify.

You say Blu is better than the MDR. How? in what way?

I thought you get dry salad without the dressing and very healthy food without all those tasty sauces etc.

Does Blu do "regular" food for people who are not trying to be super fit?

I think the healthy food thing is really not quite true. The food in Blu has sauces, you can get any kind of salad dressing. Blu has their own kitchen and your food is more cooked to order. They also have three basic items which are everynight items.
