Everything ALLURE

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if dining at Samba Grill is a super long process? We have 8:30 pm reservations for Samba and 10:45 pm reservations for OceanAria.

It doesn't have to be a long process, but it can be if you want, they won't kick you out. We got our fill and were out in an hour. I think we saw most meats go by at least once. We got to a show in about the same time frame.

The ads for Allure seem to concentrate on Dreamworks entertainment for the children. I know they have alot of adult evening entertainment, but did you feel overrun by dressed up characters, etc or was this kept in the children's club?

IMO, they are easily avoided. They did have events in the Aqua theater, and a parade in the promenade, but we avoided them. The only time I actually saw the characters was when I tried to do an 11am run on the running track on deck 5. They have a dressing room at the aft end there and make there way across the track to get to stairs to the aqua theater. I nearly ran into an un-escorted hippo that day.

The regular TV networks and some specialty programing (such as Discovery network shows having to do with Royal Caribbean cruises).

In addition there are a couple of fairly recent release movies. I'm thinking one was Yogi Bear (the live action animated movie from last year) and I think the other was Iron Man 2, but won't swear to it. (May 1 sailing)

You are quite welcome familyofd!

We really liked the wipeout cafe too. It is located on the deck below the flow rider that you lay down to surf. My son liked getting tacos and nachos there. I saw pretzel dogs there too but never tried one. They also had at the wipeout cafe mini subs cut in appetizer sizes. I had a tuna and egg salad. there is also a soft serve yogurt machine and an iced tea, lemonade, water dispenser .

Enjoy!!!! The Allure is amazing but it flew by. I didn't get everything done I wanted to do.

Oh and one more thing... The cafe promenade has a really good seafood salad and egg sandwich only available day one and day two... It is SO good!!!

The cookies and chocolate brownies are yummy too in the Cafe Promenade.

Just booked Allure for March of '13. This will be my first cruise with Royal Caribbean. I have learned so much already from this thread. Super excited now, the only downside is how am I gonna make til the cruise? Anyway to the OP, thank you for starting this thread.

Is there a roll call group formed yet for your sailing? If not start one. I've booked 3 cruises with more than a year ahead. The roll call groups sure help pass the time and can make the actual cruise even more fun.

i have looked at all of those menus that have been posted and whilst my wife and daughter (8) might not struggle, myself and My son (11) definately will as the menu is reasonably beyond what we would normally deem eatible :D (my son is a visual eater and if its to complex he wont touch it, irrespective of what it taste like, no idea where he gets it from :p)

They will cater to him somewhat, how much you will have to ask other parents, but on Allure our first night there was a table for 10 behind us and it was full of kids from 6-12 I would guess. They were all served pizza and fries. They were very loud the entire dinner, this was 2nd seating by the way. They didn't cause any trouble, but they were consistently loud the entire dinner. I never figured out who their parents were as no adult ever approached the table other than the waiters. I remember thinking they could have ate at the Windjammer, which they might of the rest of the week because I never saw them again.

How many days prior to sailing can you book specialty restaurants and shows?

It seems to vary slightly, but start looking 90 days ahead. Also keep any eye on your roll call group. You may find the bookings not available and 15 minutes later someone in your group will announce they booked theirs. If I remember right, the May 15th sailing reservations became available the same day as ours, so what was 75 days ahead for us was 90 for them. Or close to that

We are booked on the Allure in an accessible cabin. DH needs a mobility scooter and if our room had the bed near the closet we would never get in the room.

Does anyone have any pics or know the dimensions of these room, specifically 6636.

Thanks.

Just got off the Allure a few weeks back. Starbucks is the same on the ship as on land. Have all of the treats and everything! You can even use your Gold Card! Enjoy!

Wow, so I can use my already loaded card and get points onboard? Yay! :)
