C&A Celebrity Credit Question

Good afternoon all,

I just read in another post a reference to getting C&A credit for a past Celebrity cruise. How do you go about doing that? I have my sea passes if that helps.

Thanks,

Richard

I'm pretty sure you don't get Royal C&A credit for sailing with Celebrity. You do get the perks of your C&A status, but don't earn credits.

I just completed a Celebrity cruise also and you do not receive a credit towards your C&A.

You do get the perks of your C&A status,

Depending exatly on your status. Gold don't get squat.

From RCI Site:

If you are a Crown & Anchor Platinum or Emerald member and a Captain's Club Classic member, you will be automatically be entitled to the Select level in the Captain's Club.

If you are a Diamond or Diamond Plus member; you will automatically receive equivalent recognition as a Captain's Club Elite member

Part that puzzles me is about needing to be a Captain's Club Classic member if only Platinum or Emerald. Not familiar enough with Celebrity's system to know if, like RCI, you must have sailed once already to be at any level in Captain's Club.

When I joined Captain's Club, I hadn't sailed with Celebrity yet. I was told that I needed to have a Celebrity cruise booked, which I did. I called Captain's Club and gave them my Celebrity booking number and C&A membership number. I was platinum C&A then and was given "Select" status for my cruise. I have only sailed once on Celebrity so far. My Capt. Club/C&A accounts must be linked properly because when I log into the Celebrity site now, it shows my Captain's Club status as "Elite" (C&A diamond equivalent) which is correct but only 2 credits. Celebrity still uses the old cruise credit system. Since I took a 7-night cruise in a suite with them, I have 2 credits, but more to come. :D

I am Captains Club elite and sailing first time on RCL. You don't become a member of either frequent customer reward system until after your first cruise.

However, if CC elite you can get Diamond benefits while your R&C level shows 0 points...If diamond you can have CC elite benefits. But you don't get points on the other line's customer reward program. And your travel agent or cruise rep needs to take the information (member number) and make the arrangement in advance to get the courtesy perks. So I'm sort of a diamond but need just 175 more points to get to diamond plus!

Elite is Celebrity's highest level(of three levels), but on my RCL cruise I just get Diamond, which I hear means no admission to the Concierge Lounge and my cruise is on NOS so no Diamond Lounge. And that is the benefit I was most looking forward to.

Other elite benefits I'll miss:

-Complimentary pressing of 2 garment items

-One complimentary bag of laundry (wash, dry, fold) on every sailing

-One standard bag of laundry (wash, dry, fold) at a discounted price of $20 on all Celebrity cruises of 12 nights or longer

-Complimentary dry cleaning of 1 garment item

-Complimentary 90 minute Internet package (can be applied towards a larger Internet package)

-Access to the Captain's Club Lounge for coffeehouse style breakfast and evening social hour (open daily except embarkation and the evening of the Senior Officers’ Cocktail Party)

-Complimentary access to Persian Garden (on one (1) port day of your choice, while the ship is in port)

Celebrity's system:

Classic - 1 to 4 credits

Select 4 to 9 credits

elite 10+ credits

Unlike RCLs counting of days = points, you get 1 credit for each cruise

1 extra credit for a cruise 12+ days

1 extra credit for concierge class, aqua class or suite

(max 3 points per cruise)

Yes, you must have at least one sailing to become a member of the Captain's Club with Celebrity.

No. As a subsequent poster said, I believe you only need to be a member of C&A and have a Celebrity cruise booked. We sailed Celebrity for the first time last year. As I recall, I called them up, gave them our Celebritybooking number and our D/D+ C&A numbers and we were assigned Celebrity Captain's Club numbers and treated with reciprocal status when we took our cruise.

Thanks for the clarifications. We want to try X sometime but will probably wait until we have made Diamond on RCI first since we wouldnot get points for it. If we keep doing transatlantics that should not be too long. This next one will put us solidly enough in Platinum that three more will do it. Two if we did a JS on one using onboard discount on first one as Platinum.

Our next cruise is on the Allure of the Seas but after that we want to switch to Celebrity.

RCCL ships are getting too large and they've lost that upper tier atmosphere they used to have. They have become cattle carriers.

So, being Diamond C&A, we can become Elite upon our first Celebrity cruise, but this thread is saying we start back at zero cruise credits on Celebrity?

I ask because my sister is Platinum or Emerald on C&A and the cross-over to Celebrity would make her "Select". Does this mean she then needs 10 full credits on Celebrity to make Elite?

It's a bit confusing.

Thanks, Bill

Bill,

Your sister will either need to continue to sail with RC until she makes diamond status or will need reach 10 credits with Celebrity to get Captain's Club elite benefits. She will start at 0 cruise credits with Celebrity. Cruises on RC do not count towards Captain's Club points and cruises on Celebrity do not count towards C&A points.

Celebrity still uses the old C&A point system. All cruises 11 days and less are 1 point, cruises 12 days and over are 2 points, and there is a 1 point bonus for suites.

Captain's Club currently does not have a status higher than Elite. I will render a guess that they will eventually bring in a higher level, like RC did by adding "Diamond Plus" then "Pinnacle" status. They may switch Captain's Club over to the new C&A sailing days as well.

Without further cruising on RCI to get to Diamond then yes, it would take 10 on Celebrity. But at some point it would be easier or less costly to cruise RCI some more and extend C&A to Diamond and then do all Celebrity cruising as "effective" Elite (not "real" Elite) level. They are just extending Elite benefits to C&A cruisers not actual status. A fine line that most would not car eabout except perhaps actual Captains Club Elite members.

Thought just occured that while doing the 10 credits on Celebrity but getting Elite benefits while doing it it would be like taking a journey and being where you started when you get there. Sort of takes the incentive out of cruising X for a particular status level.

I don't understand- why don't you get those things? I sailed RCCL fior the first time in '92 but didn't get a C&A number until now that I booked on Allure for next year. My status shows correctly despite having zero credits.

Do I really need to jump through hoops to show that I actually have an RCCL sailing to get all the Diamond benefits? I thought I was getting them anyway so why bother with the hassle since I'm never going to make D+ with Royal unless Celebrity makes an equivalent?

Royal Caribbean Diamond and Celebrity Elite status do not have the same benefits. If you are Elite status on an RC ship, then you get RC's Diamond benefits onboard a Royal Caribbean ship.

Royal Caribbean doesn't offer internet package or laundry services as part of their diamond benefits. Celebrity Elite status members only get the Royal Caribbean Diamond benefits onboard a Royal Caribbean ship. Elite members do not get equivalent elite benefits on Royal Caribbean. In general, there are more Celebrity Elite benefits that I find useful than Royal Caribbean Diamond benefits.

Not true. There is a diamond coupon book for each person in the cabin which includes 30 min. free internet and discounts for more minutes as well as the $20 for wash and fold laundry bag. Numerous other discounts and freebies in the book. There is also a captain's reception by invitation only.

I thought you only had to be a diamond C&A member, which was 10 RC cruise credits before they changed the system, to be elite status on Celebrity. I'm diamond C&A, not D+, and my Capt. Club status is listed as elite. I'll be D+ before my next Celebrity cruise, assuming RC doesn't change the C&A system again.

I forgot about offers in the diamond member coupon book.
