Another stupid Texas Law, we got to airport hobby before 11 am went to a bar and the bartender said they can’t give us a drink unless we order food , so we split a appetizer and started to drink. No limit on beer and wine for lunch on first day in CK, but wine selection was poor.

Not true anymore. I'm assuming you dont live here.

I tried google as I'm sure people on rcl are drinking asap when boarding.

Can you buy alcohol before noon on Sunday Texas?

Texas amended the the law that dictates when you can buy beer and wine in stores in Texas in 2021, adjusting the legal purchase time down to 10 a.m. on Sundays from noon. Liquor stores are closed on Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.Jul 28, 2023

I do live in Texas and just haven’t tried to purchase before noon in a long time. But I see it’s still true just not before 1000 hrs. I guess since you can’t board before then it’s sort of a moot point.

Probably not a Texas state law. But TABC allows local governments to enact more restrictive regulations. Just be thankful it wasn’t a dry locality.

Laws have improved since moving to Dallas area 40 years ago, then no wine in supermarkets, needed to join a club to drink in many restaurants bars in Dallas area. Will buy some wine in Krogers today they currently have a 25 percent off sale 😁😁

Richardson was dry when I moved there. Taco cabana had decent frozen margaritas I used to love. Had to buy a membership to their club, then like $2 or $3. Now both are gone since covid. Airplane sized bottles and you buy the non alcoholic frozen part separate. Not a fan of their Ford but it was close and cheap frozen margaritas. .. but I remember having to buy a membership which was good for like a year. $10 to get around the law.

Why post this on a royal Caribbean thread when rcl allows you to purchase a drink as soon as you hit the fist bar onboard. Post on princess if you have a gripe with them

Well, it's good to know for Royal fans that may consider cruising Princess out of Galveston for the first time.

That’s a bar or airport rule, definitely NOT a Texas law

Doesn't an establishment that has a "Mixed Beverage with Food and Beverage" license have to serve food with alcohol?  Since less than 60% of gross revenue can come from alcohol sales, food must be the priority, and the business listed as a restaurant.  The reason businesses go for the "F&B" condition on their license is that they are not required to post the "personal surety bond" that bars have to.

The cruise ships know exactly where the 12-mile limit is at.  They can open the casinos and shops at the same time as full bar service.

I'm on harmony right now ot of Galveston.  We left very very late, announcement sid documentation. I booked bogo last Saturday to eat night 1. i.e. paid full price night 1. We didnt leave Galveston until maybe 7:30 pm. Luckily I talked to them before I sat down that last time on allure I also got hit with texas taxes. I had asked to eat later, my reservation got made for 5 pm by crown lounge guy. They agreed to run my charge later when I said I dont want to eat this early and also pay texas taxes. Last time 39.99 plus 18% plus texas taxes. Plus I left him a extra $10, this time tipped in cash so I could walk away.

It's not just liquor. We still dont know why we left so late, documentation they said. I saw 10 different reasons, everything for a accident in the channel to someone died. So it doesnt just affect your drink price, what you can order before international water. This is twice I got hit by texas taxes for my dinner too. Moving to PC, hoping I get away from this.

I can't really speak to that; I understand what you are saying, but we go to many restaurants and often get a drink without ordering food.  As a matter of fact I have never been told "you have to order food to get a drink"
