No inside smoking on the Infinity

That is good to hear. While I do no object to an indoor smoking area if Celebrity can find space that has minimal impact on non-smoking guests, the current indoor smoking area on Celebrity ships is a horrible choice as it impact so many activities and events.

Just spoke to Captain's Club and the Infinity is the first ship to test the "No smoking inside the Ship" policy!! Wow the forward lounge will be smoke free!

That's too bad. Hope they designate another indoor venue for smokers. The weather is not always conducive to outdoor smoking only. The forward lounge is always nice for rainy/cold days. :)

This is good news...I wonder if it will apply to officer's quarters as well as smoking does happen in those areas which are inside.

Last time I took a bridge tour, walking the officer quarter hallways was quite offensive as to the cigarette smoke odor.

That is great news. We just came off a cruise on a different cruise line and they were quite liberal with their smoking areas. It almost seemed that cigarette smoke would be coming out of their ventilation system. (Probably recirculated air) I wouldn't go to the casino because you could almost cut the air in there. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and I've been suffering with sinus problems since the cruise. I'll be definitely thinking twice before booking on their line again because of this.

We had a suite with a balcony and could barely go out to enjoy it as the people in the suite beside us seemed to be nonstop smokers on their balcony and the smoke drifted down to ours. I just checked the Celebrity website and it says that smoking is prohibited on balconies. Glad to see this as if this happens on our upcoming Infinity cruise I'll definitely be putting in a complaint.

As for weather and smoking, I live up in the far north in Ontario and people don't seem to have a problem going out in minus 40 if they want as cigarette as smoking is banned in all public buildings.

We view this as great news (if true). While we cruise on many different lines, a smoke-free policy would certainly influence our future decision making. Although we still prefer HA for its long and interesting itineraries, we avoid HA (when possible) because of their liberal smoking policy.

I'm glad to see this as well. While the smoking section is limited to one side of the Constellation lounge, the ventilation system isn't good enough to keep it from spreading to the rest of the room. We've missed some events that we would have enjoyed, Dancing with the Stripes is one example.

Best News for us who love to sail Celebrity .As OP pointed out Princess is changing their smoking rules Jan 15th fleet wide to much less smoking;).

Seems to me that smoking patrons are dwindling in numbers rapidly vs non smokers & thus ,the cruise lines are favoring the non smokers who build their bottom line:D

Perhaps it is best to NOT smoke at all. C'mon, it's 2012 and time to become healthy!!

We are SO glad that at least Celebrity bans the coffin nails throughout most of the ship.

Now if they would ban smoking entirely, that would be lovely.

One carton a week, Approx $60. times 52 weeks a year equals a suite on a 2 week cruise for two.!!!!!!!!!!!!! And better health!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many years ago a fellow employee asked me how DW and I could afford to take 1 or 2 cruises a year (this was when we took short 7 day cruises). The person who asked was a smoker along with their wife. I explained that DW and I saved more then enough money by not smoking to pay for at least one of those cruises. They were surprised until we did the math.

If you look at the deck plan of the Solsticized M class ships they all get rid of the port side of the "Sky" Lounge. It is now the Fun Factory for the kids (they replaced the fun factory on the back of the ship with 50+ new cabins). So there is no longer a port side (where smoking used to be allowed). Kind of hard to have smoking on the port side if there is no port side :)

The Hotel Director on the Silhouette recently told me that smoking would be eliminated from all of the "Sky" lounges (even S class ships) in 2012.

I am a non-smoker & appreciate the smoke free atmosphere--esp. on balconies & in staterooms... but I agree that another indoor venue would have been nice for the smokers.

DH likes his after dinner cigar-- on Clebrity he has to go up on the windy back deck.. on S class they line up the seats along the lawn --kind of demeaning & not very conducive to having a cigar & scotch or brandy...Micheals was such a nice cigar bar years ago but that space has certainly evolved...

Royal C has a beautiful cigar lounge on the Navigator and on Radiance Class they have a spot up in one of the lounges after a certain hour--with a very effective air filtration system... On Cunard they have a great cigar bar.. There are choices--but unfortunately not on Celebrity.

I don't smoke, but please tell me where I can get this deal! :D $3120 for a 2 week cruise in a suite for 2 people? I'll sign up!

But seriously, I am very excited to hear that Celebrity is going to try smoke free indoors. I think the climate is much better suited at this time than it was for Carnival Paradise, and smokers still have outside.

Yes here in Canada we see people freezing their rear ends off in the middle of winter or getting soaked during a rainstorm because they "have" to have a puff. They're making the choice, so they should have to accept the consequences. At least outdoors they aren't forcing anyone else to breathe in the smoke if they stay in the smoking area.
