Opening Balconies

Recommended Posts

Please can someone tell me if it is possible to open up the balconies between 3 x D2 or D3 cabins on Voyager of the Seas? I have seen some photos but the balcomies seem covered in and you can't see more than 2 together.

many thanks

Nope...they are not physically able to be opened. Oasis and Allure do have partitions that can create a doorway to the next balcony. Freedom class is physically able to be opened, but they don't allow it all the time. The other ships partitions are either part of the ship's structure or are bolted into place.

Not quite accurate.

On Oasis/Allure and Freedom/Liberty/Indy, the balcony dividers are like sliding doors, so these are almost always allowed to be opened.

On Mariner/Navigator, the dividers swing open, and requests to have these opened are usually denied "for safety reasons". (Sometimes they will allow them between true connecting cabins, but not always)

On Voyager/Adventure/Explorer, and all Radiance, Vision and Sovereign class ships, the partitions cannot be opened at all.

We got back from Allure last week. The partition on our JS rooms was a swinging door that latched into place. We opened it ourselves since we didn't see the room steward the first night.

Just got off the Freedom of the Seas in May. We had E2 balcony on the hump with our friends right next door. On the very first night/day due to very high winds, the staff would not unlock the balcony partition between cabins. However the next day and throughout the rest of the cruise, the partition was open the entire time. You can open it as little or as much as you want. It's a sliding door. Very very nice feature.

almost universally the answer will be NO.

you will get about 8 different reasons why, but the long and short of it is.. they will no longer do it.

This question usually brings about a lot of wrong answers. Sometimes from people who have been on one ship and assume its that way all the time. Your universal reference seems to indicate such a a designation.

We were on Allure for the May 13th Eastern. We woke one morning to find our balcony and the nearby life boat showered with safety glass from above. We assumed it was a divider. We don't know what deck it was from but you can see why they are concerned about opening them. We heard nothing. I think it actually surprised our cabin attendant. He seemed pretty upset.
