Live from the Majesty of the Seas - July 20, 2012

Thanks!

The two sides of the cabana are one cabana. Half of it faces out toward the water while the other half faces inward to the Cabana Club area. No curtain in between.

Ahhh OK...for some reason I figured it was a "duplex" hahaha....

makes sense now!!:D

you said the Cabana hand two sides. is it listed as two Cabanas or is the whole Cabana yours and what was the cost?

thanks

This is what i was wondering also? Did you have to specifi what view you wanted Or are all 4 seats yours? That's a single cabana or family? I want a view with two seats basically so what am I ordering and cost?

From our cabana, we had a great view of the Majesty of the Seas, anchored off in the distance.

The Norwegian Sky, who had left Miami shortly after us, was anchored nearby, probably at their adjacent private island.

After lunch, we decided to walk around Coco Cay a bit and explore. I was surprised to find that there was a suntan spray area...

which led to a machine where you could purchase a 60-second spray of suntan prevention.

Love your review from Coco Cay. I sailed with Majesty in August last year, but as the hurricane Irene came by, we did not get to Coco Cay, but spend extra time at Key West. As coming from cold Scandinavia the thought of a private bounty Island is very attractive, so I may have to do another cruise, so I can go to Coco Cay.

If you look at this picture:

you can see how the cabana is split such that half is facing one way and half facing the other. All four loungers are part of the cabana that is purchased. You can get either a 4-person one, like we had, for $120, or a slightly larger one for 5 people for $150.

If you want something simpler, you could go for the cabanettes, which are these blue "clamshells" over a couple loungers. They are only $50, and still give you access to the Cabana Club area.

Well, rain was indeed the order of the day. It was a light rain all while we were out venturing around. We walked along the main shopping area, and then ventured a block up to see the less touristy area that was all closed because it was Sunday.

We stopped in Señor Frogs for a short while, but it was too loud for us, being the old fogies that we are. :) We walked around a bit more and ended up at the Hard Rock Café for lunch. It was pricey, but otherwise enjoyable. It was still a bit noisy, but we could at least have a decent conversation in there.

After having made our rounds in the Nassau shopping area, we headed back to the ship and got out of the rain.

We're now just lounging about until we set sail and the ship comes alive again for the evening. Dinner will be in the main dining room tonight and then we'll see what we choose to do for entertainment.

A few more random shots...

Here you can see the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine (one of two, the other is on the other side ... to the left ... of the beverage station).

normal_image%7E24.jpg

Through the rain, you can see three other ships docked next to us including two Carnival Ships (Miracle and Fantasy, I think) and Norwegian Sky.

That's exactly what I needed to know. Thank you. So you can't purchase these in advance online? I have to go to the excursion dsk once on board?

I looked at the RCCL website and it appears that the cabana can be booked ahead of time with the cabana # being assigned on the ship. So, are they not offered to suite passengers first anymore? I think it is well worth the price and would really want to get one but I am not a suite guest. Two more questions. Can you take the champagne back to the ship? I do enjoy it, but I like to snorkel most of the day and cannot finish a bottle. Finally, there are only two of us and we do not need four loungers. Did you see anyone splitting the cabana with another couple?

Again, thanks for the great review.

Think this is what happened to me at Senor Frogs. LOL. Was fun to watch for a bit, but I wasn't feeling it, didn't even get a drink and I left and slowly made my way back to the ship.

Just a quick note for now. I'm at the airport awaiting my flight to Atlanta on my way to Los Angeles for work.

Disembarkation mostly went smoothly, although there was an hour-long delay. Fortunately, it didn't affect our schedule as we are departing from the airport later than some.

I'll post more on my LAX flight as I think the flight has Wi-Fi and that'll give me something to do for the five hour trip.

I'm now safely ensconced on my flight to Los Angeles with Wi-Fi service to keep me busy.

Yesterday was an interesting day at Nassau. Since we didn't have anything special planned for this port, we slept in. Our forward cabin heard much of the docking activities, but it wasn't too disruptive (not like the anchor being dropped at Coco Cay). Around 10:30, the Cruise Director came on (in the staterooms even) to let us know that due to a sudden storm that had rolled in, they had removed the gangway and were suspending embarking/disembarking. Many people were stuck outside in the downpour. The ship was being blown away from the dock, according to what the Captain said later on.

After returning from Nassau, the ship was a bit less exciting due to the rain. Few people were out on the pool deck.

normal_image%7E27.jpg

We hung around for a bit. Bryan went off to play bingo again, and I just wandered the ship, waiting for things to open up. Once the casino opened, I spent some time in there before dinner, then went off to get changed.

Even though I did go ahead and get changed into long pants and a polo shirt, I noticed that many others remained in shorts and T-shirts for dinner. I guess I didn't have to make that effort. Tonight's dinner menu didn't thrill me, so I got the Chops Grille filet. It was okay, but definitely not as good as eating in a real Chops Grille restaurant.

Dinner went long again, so we ended up missing most of the farewell show. I don't understand why they have My Time Dining starting at 6:30 with shows starting at 8 when you could be seated at a large table with people arriving at staggered times (and ordering multiple appetizers), making it difficult to finish one's meal in time.

It was now time to do the necessary pre-departure preparations. We went back to the cabin and packed. Fortunately, being a 3-night cruise, there's less to pack and that made it easier.

Once all that was done, I went back to finish my evening in the casino, and I'm really glad I did. First, Tracy and Dom, the casino hosts, took excellent care of me, getting me whatever I wanted. More importantly though, I found a hot machine. It's an Aruze machine called Giant Panda, if I remember correctly. I played it for quite some time and ended up winning enough to pay the onboard expense account, the cost of the cruise, as we'll as the next two cruises I have booked! For those who may be curious, no, I didn't get a W-2G tax form from the cruise for the winnings. :)

Finally, I was (well past) time for bed. I fell asleep easily enough with happy dreams of the cruise in my head.

looking foward to your follow up once you get time and post more photos and info. Its been quite a few years since i have been on majesty. majesty of the seas was the first cruise ship experience for me and what got me hooked!! I was wondering to the op what are things you like or more or less on majesty compaired to say freedom of the seas. I know you had sailed fos just shorty before or after i was this last march and i just thought i would like to hear your thoughts. I personally like both but now that my friends and family started with voyager class then freedom class after that they like larger ships but i would still like to go back and see majesty again. Hope you had a great time and flight to la as well.
