Heat is probably a major factor. According to my DS, who just spent 25 months in Bahrain (courtesy of the USN), the only time you can count on not having "black flag" (>100 F) conditions is the dead of winter. And that's when most of the Dubai cruises are scheduled (at least on RCCL ships). :cool:

Most of the North American based cruise ship companies start moving thier ships back from the Med.area back to North America around that time so that eliminates them.

Last October we were on a Princess cruise from Rome to Sydney that stopped in Omon and Dubai at the end of October - the weather was not as hot as excepted - around 90f
