NSWP Posted December 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) Coming up for my first Celebrity Cruise, hence the query: 'Do the Celebrity ships (Solstice in my case) have a passenger choir, like the Princess Pop Choirs I have sung with on that Line?' Xport Posted December 26, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2012 I have seen guest choirs and guest dance groups on a few of my Celebrity cruises but I wouldn't count on it... It seems to me that when I've seen them, it has been on one of the Millennium Class ships with the group--who rehearsed during the sailing--performing during the crew talent show... Don't recall ever seeing a crew talent show on a Solstice Class ship...
smtcan Posted December 26, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 26, 2012 We have had a passenger choir on two Celebrity Transatlantics, one on Solstice and one on Eclipse. I think it depends if there is anyone on the Activity Staff who is interested. The one on Solstice was particularly good fun because we were accompanied by a member of the jazz group. The other one used taped music if I recall. Sheila
FrankinPA Posted December 26, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 26, 2012 We did have a passenger choir on the Infinity in 2009 (7 day Alaska trip). Was a lot of fun. Not seen one since then.

saffy12 Posted December 26, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 26, 2012 We had a choir on our Nov. 16th Equinox Med cruise. As was said, I think it depends on the Activity Staff - if there is someone interested and able to coordinate it. My dad, who enjoys singing in a choir at home, participated in it. They met for "rehearsal" on the first sea day, then again 1 other evening and on the other sea day. Each rehearsal was no more than 1 hour long, then they sang in the lobby on the last night. There were approx 50 people in the choir, and the lobby was filled with people watching their "performance" - more than any other live performer during the cruise! It was fun for him to participate in, and was really neat to see.

That might keep me out of the casino ;)
ariawoman Posted December 27, 2012 #12 Share Posted December 27, 2012 On the Equinox we had a guest talent show which I was chosen to be a part of. Maybe they will have something like that and you can get some folks together :-)

shadowrider Posted December 27, 2012 #15 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Our last winter cruise on the Millenium which went to Chile/Uruguay/Argentina, had a "Dance Club", which were passengers who did a few theatrical dance numbers after rehearsing a few times. It was obvious that they had a lot of fun, so I'm hoping to run into something like that on a future cruise.
Rare xxpinksaltxx Posted December 27, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 27, 2012 There was a passanger choir on our Eclipse Ta this October. They did some flash mob performances which were great, and I think they had an ending performance too. I didn't pay a lot of attention to their schedule though. dpryo319 Posted December 27, 2012 #21 Share Posted December 27, 2012 Rory (my boyfriend who is the show band pianist) headed one up on the Silhouette last year (maybe more than one...). None on Reflection though. He said guests really liked it!
Rare ladylemondrop Posted December 27, 2012 #22 Share Posted December 27, 2012 This is very popular on fred olsen ships, and i would love to see it on celebrity, what a great thing to be a part of, but you really need a long cruise for it to work. NSWP Posted December 27, 2012 Author #23 Share Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Thanks for all the replies my friends. It would appear on the longer cruises the CD may get a choir going. We are only on for 13 days this time, Sydney to Auckland. But I might mention it to the CD on Day 1. For those interested last March/April I was on P&O' UK - Arcadia, 49 days, Sydney to Southampton via Asia/Africa, we had a LOT of sea days including one run of 8 sea days from Malaysia to Mauritius. Suffice to say there was a big pax choir, around 60, Brits and Aussies with the odd Kiwi. We must have had 30 sea day practices and did 4 performances, including the Titanic 100th Anniversary Service on board, Abide With Me etc. Packed the theatre out that day. I really think Passenger Choirs are a great concept, good entertainment for all. ' Thanks again for your responses to my query.
