VallyD Posted April 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2013 I'm just learning about this whole Mariner thing lol. I guess since we have one completed cruise we are 1 Star? It doesn't show up on our account (yet). I read you get an extra "day" (?) for 300 in on board spending. Is that anything bought on board?
VallyD Posted April 9, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Oh and does it count for things bought pre-ordered on the internet for on board?

sail7seas Posted April 9, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2013 You get credit for all on board spending and for all spending you did in advance of boarding. If you ordered liquor delivered to your cabin, it counts. If you pre-booked a Pinnacle dinner, it counts. You get one day for each $300 spending as well as double days for being in a Suite. If you were on a 7 day cruise, in a suite, you will get 14 days. Check your Mariner account in a day or two and it should be posted. I have found all credits show on our account within four or so days after we leave the ship.
Alberta Quilter Posted April 9, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2013 It can take up to ten days for the cruise day credits to show on your mariner account. And, it's 1 cruise day for every $300 spent. It doesn't matter if you purchased items, in advance, they will still count towards your cruise day credits. For example, if you spent $1500 between the two of you, you will each receive an additional 5 cruise day credits. Sorry, posting at the same time as the others! Rare VMax1700 Posted April 9, 2013 #12 Share Posted April 9, 2013 So anything at all? Shops, wine, beer, spa, packages, internet, I assume not the casino? ;) They even give 'day credit' for onboard medical bills! I got 4 days credit for my $1200 medical bill.
lvz2cruz Posted April 9, 2013 #13 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Your hotel service charge (tips) also count and so do internet packages. They are usually generous in rounding up. For example, $450 spending might get 2 days rather than exactly $600 for 2 days.

Cruising-along Posted April 9, 2013 #15 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Even OBC counts! We're always delighted to see how many cruise day credits we get after a cruise. And we aren't big spenders. ;):D

Enjoyed you amusing story! LOL I was trying to do the cruise math in my head of how long it would take us to get 5 stars, I was terrible at math but it seems a LONG ways away lmbo And thank you! Ontariotrekker Posted April 9, 2013 #19 Share Posted April 9, 2013 I don't buy drinks onboard but, since I travel solo, I tend to use the ship's excursions and that really adds to the Mariner points. I'm also really bad at shopping the ship's store when they have a sale. :) Shar

TheEmerson Posted April 9, 2013 #21 Share Posted April 9, 2013 LOL I was trying to do the cruise math in my head of how long it would take us to get 5 stars, I was terrible at math but it seems a LONG ways away lmbo And thank you! The only bugger is the max number of bonus days is the days sailed. A 7 day cruise has a max of 7 spending bonus. If they had it unlimited I would have jumped the line in status much quicker. If they had it unlimited I would have jumped the line in status much quicker. That's what we though and HAL didn't even give bonus points then, just days. Anyways, you need to cruise a lot so you can write amusing, readable and entertaining reviews/stories for all of us not on a cruise! Hope you keep good memories of this first HAL cruise! lazey1 Posted April 9, 2013 #24 Share Posted April 9, 2013 HAL just had to give me a goal to reach didn't they? That's wonderful you have had so many cruises :) Where is your favorite place to visit? Being naughty and answering you response to Sail:p Of course they did and you are young enough to reach that goal. We are 4 star and have a different goal which is to cruise on each of the DAM ships. Our favorite places to visit, Hawaii, South Pacific, especially Bora Bora, The Baltic, (loved St. Petersburg, Russia) Canada...you get the idea, more favorites than we can count.;) Jane & Gary
Boytjie Posted April 9, 2013 #25 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Even OBC counts! We're always delighted to see how many cruise day credits we get after a cruise. And we aren't big spenders. ;):D Well, OBC is just prepaying money that you will spend on the ship. You don't get day credits for it when you buy the OBC and then double the day credits when you actually spend it. ;) Where one does "double dip" is where you get day credits for the combined spending in the cabin (not for 3rd or 4th guests): I get day credits based on what I spent as well as what my partner spent.
