ruby1966 Posted April 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Could anyone please tell me the smoking policy on Adventure of the seas. A lot of the reviews say that it is bad for non smokers as there is a lot of smoking areas on the ship. Both myself and DS have asthma and try to keep as smoke free as possible. I am sorry if I offend anyone with this question. Thanks

jocap Posted April 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Hi, Ruby....I don't know the rules on RCI; some ships allow smoking in one room or the casino, and on balconies, others ban it everywhere except in designated outdoor areas. To ask on RCI's page, go back to the index and look for the Cruise Lines spot; press Royal Caribbean and ask on there. Keep smiling!
spookwife Posted April 13, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2013 Royal allows smoking on all balconies, in the casinos and in several areas on board the ship( typically outdoor). Celebrity does not allows any smoking on balconies and is more restrictive about indoor venues.
cb at sea Posted April 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2013 It is quite easy to avoid smoking areas.....if there are ashtrays, then smoking is allowed...don't go there! As far as balconies, we've never had an issues with smokers....smoke dissapates very quickly, especially when the ship is moving!!
paul929207 Posted April 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2013 When Princess allowed smoking on balconies, we never had problems with people smoking on nearby balconies. Maybe we were just lucky
Gonzo70 Posted April 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2013 If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke and dislike it, then RCI is a bad choice of cruise lines. They have a very outdated 20th Century smoking policy and even allow smoking in multiple INDOOR areas! Do not listen to the posts who say it is not a problem; as someone who dislikes cigarette smoke and is sensitive to cigarette smoke it was a HUGE issue for me. RCI really caters to the smokers and people who are not bothered by smoke or who have poor senses of smell.

Also, as many of their competitors put limits on smoking, smokers will probably tend to more to RCI while non-smokers move to other lines
ruby1966 Posted April 26, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted April 26, 2013 Thanks for the replies. :) I was restricted to RCI because I wanted to use Tesco clubcard vouchers. P and O worked out too expensive because of the restricted school holiday dates. I have decided to give it a try with RCI because the Kids really want to do it. Thanks again

Thanks We've just returned from the transatlantic repositioning cruise & our experience was that smokers could one side of the ship on the outside decks & there were about 3 smoking rooms on board. I'm not anti smoking but on previous ships I've travelled on the area has been limited to one small part of the pool deck & one pool bar.
