bguppies Posted June 8, 2013 #33 Share Posted June 8, 2013 I can't believe enough Kid Rock fans exist in this world to fill a cruise ship. One of the guys I work with does security for sixthman on about half their rock cruises. His first request every year is the Kid Rock cruise. Says they are the funnest, easiest to control out of the cruises. And Kid Rock's cruises sell out almost immediately each and every year. (whereas alot of the "more Popular" groups take months to sell out, if at all) He's not my cup of tea, but he is a great businessman. Touring this year, with $20 tickets, while other groups are charging from $50 - $600 per ticket. Bill
hattack Posted June 8, 2013 #34 Share Posted June 8, 2013 Kid Rock owns a brewery and has his own beer, that he of course sells on his cruise...you might not know it by the pics...but his fan base that go on his cruise are regular hard working family folks in their 40's-50's who for that week, are able to party uninhibited with like minded fans... edawn Posted June 10, 2013 #39 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Wow! I'll admit I've been to a Kid Rock concert and actually enjoyed the performance. He puts on a great show. What I didn't enjoy was witnessing the most drunk people I've ever seen in one place, tailgating before the concert. People were sick and still drinking on the way in to the venue. I'd jump over if I were stuck on this cruise. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Fydlstyx Posted June 13, 2013 #40 Share Posted June 13, 2013 We were on the Pearl the first cruise this year following the previous Kid Rock cruise . According to the crew, the guests were as crude and as repulsive in their behavior as they could possible be. Every sentence began and ended with "motherf...er", without regard to which young lady crew members they might be addressing. However....the good news....the Pearl crew had done a great job getting the ship cleaned up and ready for our cruise. There was no evidence of the Kid Rock group having been on board. I'm going to guess that the production company that charters this cruise must be required to put up a huge bond to cover possible damage to the ship. How tacky that crew members were discussing the previous cruise's guests with guests on another sailing, and in such an unflattering manner. Does the name John Heald mean anything to you? Apparently it's an acceptable practise in the cruise industry. Call me jaded but I'm actually surprised that this charter was on NCL and not Carnival... Call me jaded but I'm actually surprised that this charter was on NCL and not Carnival... Yes, I sometimes comment on Heald's facebook page when he is particularly rude about guests. I don't think any of the employees from any cruise line should be b*tching about past guests to current guests. They ought to keep their negative comments between themselves, and out of earshot of all guests, IMO. I am booked on a charter on NCL Pearl, too, but I think mine will be a different kind of wild than this one was. It's the Country Cruise. ;)
sinclaj Posted June 13, 2013 #44 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Hubby and I were on the cruise right after the Kid Rock cruise and really, the crew members we spoke with were very circumspect about what they said about the previous week. We got the impression that it was quite an active, partying crowd, but certainly the crew members did not offer information about particulars. I would not have known the details if I hadn't seen this crowd. I'm quite surprised at the information I have read about here. I don't think it was common place for crew members to disclose details. It was probably the exception, rather than the rule.

Hopefully, such crude, lewd, obscene, disgusting behavior would be an exception by guests also rather than the rule . But apparently for that cruise it wasn't. Tacky doesn't begin to describe that behavior directed towards the crew...or even the conduct between the guests themselves. Can you picture those very sweet and very gracious young girls and guys that great us at the entrance to the buffet each day, them being address with "washy, washy muthaf...er", and the guests then having a good laugh. That crew, nor does anyone, sigh on to experience that from anyone. Even our local WalMart, in which a large number of those guests shop, would not permit that type behavior. Don't think NCL should sell themselves out for it either. My opinion.

It took me by surprise too, dare I say a bit disappointed, but money is money and I can understand why accepted that charter. If the only thing those passengers had to deal with is being talked about by a few crew, they got off well considering what they more than likely put those that worked there though. rigs32 Posted June 14, 2013 #49 Share Posted June 14, 2013 Since NCL *owns* Sixthman, the company that put on the cruise, why in the world would it be on Carnival? A full charter is just that. A cruise line hosting an outside group. Many cruiselines host swinger or nudist cruises. It says nothing about the cruiseline. I went on The Rock Boat this year and I'm already signed up for next year. I like it because it's wild and fun and I can act in a way I can't act at home. Is it out of control? No, but I love that I can dance to music in the atrium until 4 AM, lay in the ocean at GSC and listen to live music all day with a drink in my hand. It's an experience unlike a normal cruise, but each charter has a different flavor. I would never go on the Kid Rock cruise, but I don't see why some of you feel the need to insult people who might like it. I understand that some people feel profanity is bad. Some of us don't. All the staff I spoke to on the Pearl about the charter expressed enjoying the different pace. Were they lying? Perhaps, but a lot of the staff enjoyed the music and the people, dancing along with us at times.
hattack Posted June 14, 2013 #50 Share Posted June 14, 2013 From a logistics perspective, the full charter music cruises are often easier to work for the crew, because almost all of the normal shipboard activities revolve around the performance schedule...anytime dining is not in effect in the MDR, concerts often go until 3-4 am , most folks sleep in late and with concerts on deck during sea days, most folks are out of their cabins during the day. As long as the weather and music are good, it makes it easier and a nice change from the normal week to week sailing. I would also suspect that NCL provides some extra training for the crew (made easier since SixthMan designates one primary ship) so the crew knows exactly what to expect based upon their experience from the previous year I do full charter Smooth Jazz cruises and found that many of the crew are huge fans of the artists performing and they are able to enjoy the music while they are working...I always feel sorry for the casino ,spa and shop crews because they are often idle when there are concerts going on...the bartenders and waiters work very hard...lol.... The ship's staff are professionals so I would not think would be to rattled about these types of music charters
