Have to admit I go lots less formal on Formal Nights than I once did.

Wear black silk pants with either a matching black silk or lace top.

(DH still wears his tux on Princess cruises on Formal Nights.)

With the airlines charging for luggage I take less and less. Lately I have been wearing a nice pair of dressy slacks and a sparkly or silky top with nice accessories. My dh wears a dark suit. Of course on our last few cruises we did not participate in formal night and ate either in the buffet or the Crown Grill.

I usually wear silk pants and a top with pretty jewelry. Two cruises ago I shopped forever for a beautiful dress, found it and then 4 other women showed up in it. Changed to my silk pants and the dress is back in the closet.

Black dress pants, with a dressy (usually black) blouse. Dress up with costume jewelry. I don't pack real jewelry anymore, don't want to worry about it! The only real jewelry I take are my wedding rings and I have been known to not even take them on some cruises (Europe). I also limit myself to one pair of black heels for the trip, and have to admit I am one of those people, who tend to change clothes as soon as formal dinner is over with, comfort goes a long way in the casino!

I'll do a long gown for the first formal night and a cocktail dress for the second. Hubby usually rents a tux (more because I want him to than because he wants to-he really doesn't care either way)

We're thinking Panama Canal for our next one and it has three formal nights. Not sure what I'll do for the extra night.

Usually wear slacks (Black or White) depending on color scheme of my very fancy sparkly jackets and fancy shirts. Been cruising for 30 years... so have quite a collection of fancy items ... rarely see anyone else with jackets that I have collected and enjoy wearing.

Even with luggage restrictions of airlines... we stilll pack our formal clothes first... then day wear and whatever else we can manage for less formal nights. We wear some things twice ... that helps with weight.

Just got off the Grand to Alaska two weeks ago. This time, my husband did a nice suit with silk tee underneath. I wore dress slacks and a fancy blouse each formal night. I was comfortable and felt dressed appropriately.

The last few cruises we have been dressier. Hubby wore a tux and I wore long dresses.

I think this time was better overall with packing and comfort.

For me it's either my LBD or black dress pants and a fancy top. All are lightweight and virtually wrinkle proof, so easy to pack. If there are more formal nights than the number of my dress-up outfits, I vary the accompaniments (jewelry and or shawls). I only take one pair for strappy sandals, which can be worn with either the LBD or a pants outfit.
