PeterTellus Posted June 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Women, what do you wear on Formal Nights?
OCruisers Posted June 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Have to admit I go lots less formal on Formal Nights than I once did. Wear black silk pants with either a matching black silk or lace top. (DH still wears his tux on Princess cruises on Formal Nights.) LuLu ~~~~
Pam in CA Posted June 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I usually wear a simple long black dress and a couple of sparkling shawls (for different nights) along with some bling.
Rare Cruise Junky Posted June 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I checked gown, cocktail dress and other and it all depends on where I'm eating that night. Shorts and T and a good bottle of wine if we're ordering room service :) We're very hit and miss on the MDR on formal night.
jean s Posted June 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2013 With the airlines charging for luggage I take less and less. Lately I have been wearing a nice pair of dressy slacks and a sparkly or silky top with nice accessories. My dh wears a dark suit. Of course on our last few cruises we did not participate in formal night and ate either in the buffet or the Crown Grill.
Victorious8 Posted June 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I'm 24 and I wear short cocktail dresses and 4 inch heels :)
ceba Posted June 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I usually wear silk pants and a top with pretty jewelry. Two cruises ago I shopped forever for a beautiful dress, found it and then 4 other women showed up in it. Changed to my silk pants and the dress is back in the closet.
Guest fyree39 Posted June 10, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I wear either a gown or a cocktail dress. It depends on whether or not we're flying.

Chloe1500 Posted June 10, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Black cocktail dress that is easy to pack and doesn't have to be pressed.
jnc411 Posted June 10, 2013 #14 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Depends on the cruise, either cocktail dress, or long gown, or black silk pants with formal top. Husband wares good suit for all types of cruises. No Tux Cori
blambition Posted June 10, 2013 #15 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Black dress pants, with a dressy (usually black) blouse. Dress up with costume jewelry. I don't pack real jewelry anymore, don't want to worry about it! The only real jewelry I take are my wedding rings and I have been known to not even take them on some cruises (Europe). I also limit myself to one pair of black heels for the trip, and have to admit I am one of those people, who tend to change clothes as soon as formal dinner is over with, comfort goes a long way in the casino! Northender Posted June 10, 2013 #16 Share Posted June 10, 2013 Black pants with dressy top and dressy shoes. Husband wears navy blazer and tie. Potstech Posted June 10, 2013 #17 Share Posted June 10, 2013 There is a little bit of discrimination on this poll. The men had a entry for "NOTHING". Why is there no such entry for the women/
Rare PurpleHays Posted June 10, 2013 #18 Share Posted June 10, 2013 I'll do a long gown for the first formal night and a cocktail dress for the second. Hubby usually rents a tux (more because I want him to than because he wants to-he really doesn't care either way) We're thinking Panama Canal for our next one and it has three formal nights. Not sure what I'll do for the extra night.
Seafoam Green Posted June 11, 2013 #19 Share Posted June 11, 2013 I have worn cocktail dresses previously, but will start doing the black skirt or pants with fancy tops. Trying to keep packing light!
pris993 Posted June 11, 2013 #20 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Usually wear slacks (Black or White) depending on color scheme of my very fancy sparkly jackets and fancy shirts. Been cruising for 30 years... so have quite a collection of fancy items ... rarely see anyone else with jackets that I have collected and enjoy wearing. Even with luggage restrictions of airlines... we stilll pack our formal clothes first... then day wear and whatever else we can manage for less formal nights. We wear some things twice ... that helps with weight.
Rare JustinPlusLauren Posted June 11, 2013 #21 Share Posted June 11, 2013 I usually wear either a cocktail dress or a long gown! It is fun getting all dressed up :)
MilliesMom Posted June 11, 2013 #22 Share Posted June 11, 2013 Just got off the Grand to Alaska two weeks ago. This time, my husband did a nice suit with silk tee underneath. I wore dress slacks and a fancy blouse each formal night. I was comfortable and felt dressed appropriately. The last few cruises we have been dressier. Hubby wore a tux and I wore long dresses. I think this time was better overall with packing and comfort.
ermina Posted June 12, 2013 #23 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Long black skirt ,nice top an a fancy shawl. All very light weight.
flamomo Posted June 12, 2013 #24 Share Posted June 12, 2013 For me it's either my LBD or black dress pants and a fancy top. All are lightweight and virtually wrinkle proof, so easy to pack. If there are more formal nights than the number of my dress-up outfits, I vary the accompaniments (jewelry and or shawls). I only take one pair for strappy sandals, which can be worn with either the LBD or a pants outfit.
umbertsmum Posted June 12, 2013 #25 Share Posted June 12, 2013 I love getting glammed up ! Dressy long gown or cocktail dress for me and dinner suit for hubby - with choice of bow ties.
