paul929207 Posted July 27, 2013 #26 Share Posted July 27, 2013 Liza really was the best! She was very efficient and a pleasure to speak with on the telephone as well. Mike:) And she got a well deserved promotion out of the Shareholder Benefit area.

paul929207 Posted July 27, 2013 #28 Share Posted July 27, 2013 True, much to my dismay. Mike:) I haven't had any problem with the people processing the requests now. They are not a quick as Liza, but I book my cruises well in advance, so I am sending the request right after final payment.
Frugalist Posted July 27, 2013 #29 Share Posted July 27, 2013 The information is on the Carnival Corporation website under Investor Relations, Shareholder Benefit (http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=140690&p=irol-sharebenefit). Quoting the small print from the linked site: "This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account." Is the above-bolded restriction regarding gratuities actually enforced? For a 7-day cruise, suppose my total shipboard account comes to $120, including $80 of auto-tips. Do I really only get the shareholder benefit to the extent of $40? What's been everyone's actual experience in this regard?

I believe that is the intent for how the Shareholder benefit OBC should be treated. Whether that really happens or not seems less clear to me. Princess seems to mix various types of OBC and to be a touch sloppier in practice on the ship in terms of implementing. For us, we usually have $100 in Internet fees for now... Though after our Ruby cruise we will both be Platinum and start getting free Internet so that might change.

Princess does not identify how each dollar is used. In your example, with $120 in charges, if you have $100 OBC, your bill will be for $
notus Posted July 28, 2013 #32 Share Posted July 28, 2013 We purchased the stock less than a week before our cruise. We called Princess and were told to fax the information (booking #, ship, sailing date, etc) and proof of purchase. We called back about an hour later to check and were told OBC was applied and we got an e-mail confirmation. All very quick and easy.....(this time?) Beaniebond Posted August 26, 2013 #33 Share Posted August 26, 2013 Anyone else finding it to be more difficult to get Princess to apply the shareholder credit to their bookings? My upcoming voyage, my first attempt was rebuffed (too early, can no longer submit until 90 days until voyage) then my second attempt was ignored, the third seemed to work, but it took a fourth attempt to get a confirmation. Grrr. I am holding 100 Carnival shares which is a non-trivial amount of money and have started showing more loyalty to Carnival brands as a result of a mix of good experiences and the shareholder benefit. For example right now I have 3 upcoming cruises with Princess booked. They will get the $100 benefit and more back from me so why make it so hard?? Aside, the removal of email as an option for submissions really irks me too. Have never had a problem with this. I usually mail in my military and stock paper work. Also if you log on to your Princess cruise personalizer you will find all of your credits listed.

Once it's on your account it's automatically credited as soon as you book.
Rare karatemom2 Posted August 26, 2013 #35 Share Posted August 26, 2013 We experienced significant difficulty in getting our OBC applied for our Shareholder's benefit on our recent Grand Princess cruise. I faxed it and requested email confirmation when it was applied. I know the fax went through as I received a transmittal receipt. When the confirmation was not forthcoming after more than a week I placed a call to Princess and for the first time ever the representative who answered my call was less than helpful. She wouldn't even check on the status and simply told me that they were taking at least two to three weeks to process and to check back later. It was the first time I would have given the Customer Service person a poor review but of course she didn't put me through to the survey. When I called again almost two weeks later I spoke to a different representative who was more helpful. He actually called and checked to see if my paperwork had been processed but no one could seem to locate it so he had me fax it again while he kept me on the phone and had it processed while I was still on the line. But even after all that when I checked with Passenger Services when we boarded my credit was not showing. Fortunately I had the paperwork and they took care of making sure our OBC was applied. So all in all it took me two faxes, two phone calls and an extended visit to the PSD onboard to get my credit applied. It really shouldn't be that difficult. I certainly do miss Liza - she was incredibly efficient and helpful!
windsor26 Posted August 26, 2013 #36 Share Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) I submitted my request July 3 & got an email confirmation about the 20th for a September 17 sailing Now it is lovely to have something BETTER in Australia from the cruise industry I e-mailed the Australian office for my shareholder credit and 2 hours later received their confirmation That is service:):):):) Edited August 26, 2013 by windsor26
sfo2008 Posted November 7, 2013 Author #37 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Pleasant surprise, I made final payment last night + faxed the form, this morning I got confirmation of the OBC. So that is MUCH better.
Sunsailor Posted November 7, 2013 #38 Share Posted November 7, 2013 We have never had a problem. I fax my own letter and evidence of ownership (page from statement with all other info blacked out) to Princess and the next day I call and let them know the fax number from which I sent my letter and the exact time. The fax is retrieved and the credit applied immediately. It also shows on "onboard credit" on our personalizer. Easy, no waiting, confirmed on the phone. I'm happy with everyone in that department! Gunner22aa Posted November 8, 2013 #44 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Booked a last minute cruise to take advantage of the 50% FCC being offered. Faxed in the shareholder information the next morning. Was credited to my account within 24 hrs so I haven't had any issues.
louden Posted November 8, 2013 #45 Share Posted November 8, 2013 Just purchased a cruise for mid Dec. Rare geoherb Posted November 8, 2013 #47 Share Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) I faxed mine on Monday. My credits showed up on the Cruise Personalizer by yesterday. (They weren't there when I checked on Tuesday, and I did not check on Wednesday). We're doing back-to-back cruises on the Ruby, so I was afraid they'd somehow miss giving us the credit for one of the bookings--but they got it right. It's so much easier now that the credit shows up on the Personalizer and I don't have to contact my TA. Edited November 8, 2013 by geoherb

DebJ14 Posted November 8, 2013 #50 Share Posted November 8, 2013 I found the form from a link on CC. When I faxed it in last month it took exactly one week until I received a confirming fax and an updated confirmation showing the OBC. Funny, Carnival does not require a form. I just write my booking number, ship, sail date and cabin number on the brokerage statement and fax it in. The turnaround over at Carnival is usually about 48 hours.
