Sin City Question

Recommended Posts

We will be leaving on Celebrity Equinox in a few short weeks. I have heard they have a show called "Sin City" and that it is rather vulgar. Has anyone seen this show? I don't want to waist my time if it is a show that should be rated R. I have always thought of Celebrity as having decent family friendly shows. I hope that has not change. Any imput??

It is an adult late night comedy show that is held in the Celebrity Central theater. Chances are it won't interfer with anything that you would want to do or can't avoid. The theater fills up fast and it is usually SRO. Sometimes it is not any more "adult" than some of the shows by other guests performers that are held in the main theater.

Nothing to be alarmed about.

A family show it is not if you are easily offended by "adult" then avoid this show. Personally I like my comedy dirty and enjoyed this show last March 2013.

The shows on Reflection last month were hilarious but don't sit in the front row unless you want to be picked on by the comedians and ripped to shreds whilst the rest of us are in fits of laughter!

If you are easily offended, dislike foul language and get no joy from watching a stripper then the shows may not be for you. Family friendly it ain't!

I saw this show on the Solstice this past August in Alaska and enjoyed it as something different to do late night. It did have a lot of 'blue' language, but the comedian was really funny. It is a Las Vegas style show with a single dancer who did not strip but had a very revealing costume. It is held after the regular theater show is over.

Lots of adult fun- no one under 21 allowed. I'm glad X is trying something different for its passengers who do stay up after midnight.

I hope to see it again on the Silhouette next March.

I'll be on the Jan. 26 Silhouette sailing. I prefer my comedy clean. The best clean comedians I've seen are Fred Klett and Jeanne Robertson. Fred was on a Summit cruise in Feb. 2012. After his Wed. show, he sat in on the judging panel for the "Dancing with the Stripes" contest at the upper deck night club. This is a take-off on Dancing with the Stars, the Stripes being the officers partnering with passengers. His comments had us rolling again.

I've seen Jeanne on twice stage and YouTube and have some of her CDs. Comedy can be hilarious without offending anyone. I need to look at Fred's website to see when he will be on a ship again. He does a lot of X cruises. He is also on YouTube.

If someone gets offended by the costume that the "stripper" wears or thinks it is revealing then they should also stay away from the pool areas.

They still have decent family shows but also offer the alternate late night comedy show. If you are offended don't attend.

So right you are! Particularly if that revealing swimsuit is worn by an 80 year old grandmother. LOL

The show is late at night 11:30 pm so it's not intended for families. They won't allow children in. It would be R rated if a rating system was used. The name Sin City in itself should be a tell! It is hilariously funny and I enjoyed the show. I see nothing wrong with Celebrity having some adult orientated entertainment. None is required to attend. Also it is not in the main theater, it is a smaller space and I actually had difficulty locating the show.

We will be leaving on Celebrity Equinox in a few short weeks. I have heard they have a show called "Sin City" and that it is rather vulgar with that name, you are probably right. Has anyone seen this show? sure, its excellent for what it is. I don't want to waist my time if it is a show that should be rated R. When a show is called "sin city", and offered late at night (I think 11:00 or 11:30pm), I would expect an R rated show. If something like that was not for you, then I would find another late night activity. I have always thought of Celebrity as having decent family friendly shows. In my experience, ANY show, program, speaker, or entertainer on a Celebrity ship offered during the daytime, in the evening, at night up to 11:00pm would be fine for anyone 16-96 years old. I hope that has not change. Any imput?? I think Celebrity is trying to reach a larger demographic to include late night shows. Not every show, speaker, activity is for everyone. Some might choose to include a late night show once or twice a week. If they offer a daytime activity called "1950's trivia", I would choose to stay away, If they offer a late night show, called "sin city" I would expect a rather "adult" show. Not everything on the ship is geared to families ..... casino and bars for instance.

We have seen several of these new comedy routines on Soltice and on RCCL's comedy club on board the Allure. They have some of the same comedians. Acts are definitely adult humor. Very well attended and hard to get a seat. Good addition to Celebrity.

50 plus cruises and 26 on Celebrity.

just back from equinox me and dw thought the show was hysterical she was totally able to relate to the comedian about her menopause experiences. But it is definitely adult humor but very funny. my only regret was they repeated the show 7 more times would have loved to seen more shows

Celebrity still has family friendly shows, don't worry. They just also have adult themed shows.

Please note.

Others may not like what you do.

It would be a boring world if all of us were the same, think Stepford Wives.

Thanks to everyone for your imput. It is very helpful. I'm pleased to hear that it is performed late night. I was afraid it was replacing the normal evening show and I would have hated to have missed that. I always enjoy the evening productions. You all are correct - go if you want, don't go if you don't want.

Hi, I have seen the show and it is adults only....and to ease your mind, they announced it several times throughout the cruise that is "Adults Only".

It started about 11:30pm (if memory serves) and is not a replacement

for the regular shows.

As for the content? I laughed so hard so my side hurt and I had tears

running down my face:D.....I guess what is vulgar to one person is

not so to another........good there are entertainment choices!:)

I was on the Reflection last January and was no aware of this show. I would have like it very much. I will be on the Reflection again this January. Is this something that is new. I can't believe I would have missed it as I read that activity sheet several times.

New is a relative term;).....but yes, fairly new.....I was on

Sihlouette back in April and saw it at that time.

Depending on your age, if Buddy Hackett or George Carlin offended you- don't go to the

Sin City Show. Recently on the Silhouette they had to add three extra shows and all were standing room only. You don't have to go, nor will you be missed.

That's the beauty of Celebrity- entertainment for everyone's liking from Bible Study to

Sin City.

Was on the Silhouette within the last month, show was OUTSTANDING. Clearly the entertainment highlight of the entire 12-night cruise. DO NOT GO if you are easily offended. No matter, if you didn't really want to go you probably wouldn't have gotten in, we got there 30 minutes before showtime and snagged one of the last two seats together in the entire place. Lots and lots of people standing around the perimeter.
