Cruisefriends Posted November 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2013 That is on the list of things to have on our next ship. A nice adult only area with a swim up bar...so anyone?? Thanks
Rare 1025cruise Posted November 6, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2013 I don't believe any ship has a swim up bar.
headhunterke Posted November 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Years ago, there were some ship that had this bar (I believe the Destiny was one of them), but as far as I know, they removed it after remodelling the ship.
OCruisers Posted November 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Many years ago the OLD Crown Princess had one but it was closed the whole time we were on the cruise. I don't know of any that have one now. Might have been something that seemed to be a good idea but wasn't? LuLu ~~~~
cb at sea Posted November 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Very few ship pools are "swimable"...they are tiny! Most ships do have a pool bar....you can't swim to it...but you can take a dip, then walk to the bar!
euro cruiser Posted November 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2013 A swim up bar on a cruise ship ... "Urinetown" on the high seas. Have you ever noticed at resorts with these bars that folks spend hours drinking in them but never leave the pool?

Totally gross but probably accurate.

Lerin Posted November 6, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 6, 2013 The only ship that has anything even close would be Bahamas Celebration which has an above ground pool. Probably not what you are looking for, but just thought I'd throw that out there. :D Several cruises stop in ports where you can go to resorts with a swim up bar. euro cruiser Posted November 6, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 6, 2013  Gross I agree, but it's the first thing I think of when I see a swim up bar, or several variations on that theme. Earlier this summer I stayed at a hotel in Vegas where the bar staff delivered drinks to the edge of the pool and there were many people drinking heavily who never left the water. I was sweltering and it was a tough decision whether to slowly die of heat exhaustion on the pool deck or get in that water.
rwr235 Posted November 6, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 6, 2013 No swim-up bar planned...but the new Viking Star will have a rather unique Infinity Pool, cantilevered off the stern of the ship:

Ship's Wake Posted November 6, 2013 #15 Share Posted November 6, 2013 The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have a swim up bar in the adult area.
euro cruiser Posted November 6, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 6, 2013 The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have a swim up bar in the adult area. At least this one is designed with the bar and the bar stools out of the water ... so it's obvious if you're "letting go".
Aquahound Posted November 6, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) The only ship that has anything even close would be Bahamas Celebration which has an above ground pool. Probably not what you are looking for, but just thought I'd throw that out there. :D The Disney example is probably the closest. Another close example would be the 3 RCI Freedom Class ships. In the adult pool, there are bar stools and a long table. However, the actual bar is still away from the pool. Beachdude Posted November 6, 2013 #18 Share Posted November 6, 2013 I remember one trip a few years ago watching the kids have fun with three foot waves in the pool being caused by rough seas. I don't see how the bar could have stayed open that day. Burt

iheartbda Posted November 7, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 7, 2013 Ever swim in the ocean? The ocean isn't a small confined space that results in a high concentration of "recycled booze".
