Currently aboard the Coral Princess. Called room service to trade out mini bar for 2 coffee card. They told me they don't do that. I told them it is done. Firm NO. A few minutes later they called back and said I could trade entire mini bar for only 1 coffee card. I told them forget it. Has anyone else encountered this? Anyone to contact?

See below. We got two cards for our mini-bar on the 10/21 Star Hawaii cruise without any problem. Sorry, don't have link.

 

This is from Questions under Princess Captain Circle:

Elite Mini-Bar

Question: What will my mini-bar consist of?

Answer: Elite members will get a one-time complimentary mini-bar set-up (1 per Elite stateroom) which consists of two (2) miniature bottles each of Cognac, Gin, Vodka and Scotch Whisky, two (2) 12 ounce cans of beer, two (2) 12 ounce cans/bottles of tonic water, two (2) 12 ounce cans of Coca Cola, two (2) 12 ounce cans of Sprite, two (2) 0.5 liter bottles of water, two (2) 11 ounce bottles of Perrier. The contents of the mini-bar are subject to change.

 

Question: What if I have a specific request for how I’d like my mini-bar stocked?

Answer: Your mini-bar will consist of a selection of liquors, soft drinks, beer, still and sparkling water. Once on board, you may contact Room Service to change your mini-bar selection. Certain restrictions apply.

 

Question: Can I exchange the items in my Elite mini-bar for wine?

Answer: You may exchange all of your mini-bar items for one bottle of wine. You can choose one of the following:

• Chardonnay Kendall-Jackson

• Sauvignon Blanc Nobilo

• Cabernet Sauvignon Kendall-Jackson

• Pinot Noir Robert Mondavi

• Unwooded Chardonnay, Kendall Jackson (Dawn Princess, Sea Princess, Sun Princess - when based in Australia)

• Wyndhams, Bin 444 Cabernet Sauvignon (Dawn Princess, Sea Princess, Sun Princess - when based in Australia)

• Brown Brothers, Shiraz (Dawn Princess, Sea Princess, Sun Princess - when based in Australia)

Question: Can I exchange the items in my Elite mini-bar for full bottles of liquor?

Answer: No. Miniature bottles of liquor (50 ml) may be exchanged on a one-for-one basis with other miniature bottles.

 

Question: Can I exchange the non-alcoholic items in my Elite mini-bar for alcohol?

Answer: No. Non-alcoholic beverages may be exchanged on a one-for-one basis with other non-alcoholic varieties.

 

Question: What if I don't want any alcohol in my Elite mini-bar?

Answer: If you do not wish to have any alcohol in your mini-bar we will be happy to exchange your mini-bar for one of the following:

•Alcoholic beverages may be exchanged for non-alcoholic beverages on a one-for-one basis

Full mini-bar may be exchanged for two (2) Coffee Cards

•All water mini-bar setup will consist of eight (8) 1.5 liter bottles of water

Sounds like the Captains Circle person onboard is the one to contact.
I agree. Contact the Captain's Circle Host. They are the Princess representative onboard and it's their job (among other things) to make sure passengers are happy. If they can't help you (which they should), go to the Hotel a Manager.

I was on the Golden at the end of October and I got 2 coffee cards in exchange for the mini bar set-up. They are wrong. It is 2 coffee cards. As someone mentioned, see the Captains Circle person aboard. I love the Coral, enjoy your cruise. And good luck, I hope it works out.

I did this in November on Coral. Ask to have room-service

supervisor call you back. Sorry, I knew, but forgot his name.

He was very helpful.

Will they change out for two coffee cards on the short four day cruise? That we could use next year on our cruise.

As you can see by the OPs experience anything could happen. :(

 

I'm bringing a copy of the Captain's Circle FAQs which doesn't show any restrictions based on the length of a cruise.

Where can I find a copy of the embarkation lunch invitation or is this just for suite cabin guests?

We were on the Golden, in September, on a four day cruise. We are not elite, but were in a suite, and no problem changing the mini bar for two coffee cards. We did bring along a printed copy of suite benefits just in case but no problems

It's for everyone & you can view it in the online FAQs under the 1st day dining options which says:

 

"Shortly after we welcome you onboard your spectacular Princess ship, you're invited to relax and dine at the Horizon Court or in one of the ship’s multiple dining rooms.

Open from 5 am to 11 pm (12 am on select itineraries), the Horizon Court offers a wide selection of buffet meals or snacks. A primary feature of Princess ships, the top-of-the-ship restaurant features floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning sea views as a backdrop.

Or join us in one of our main dining rooms for lunch served up by a staff -- from chefs to waiters -- dedicated to making your dining experience something special".

It's also on the credit card sized deck map they give us at embarkation although about half the time they try to send us to the buffet by saying it's only for those in transit. Princess plainly says it's an option & too often staff doesn't want us and thus more Princess inconsistency! :(

It's two coffee cards for the entire mini bar set up. If you are the poster who asked this question on Facebook, I posted a screen capture photo of the Princess website page that explains their policy.

 

I am afraid this is just another example of poor employee training. :eek:

No invitation needed. Just show up at the dining room between noon and 1:30 and you're in! :)

"No invitation needed" until having to show it to either an uniformed crewmember or one wanting to have fewer passengers for embarkation MDR lunch to be seated. :(

You, cugino? I have never seen this happen. Nobody ever looked at me or asked for anything. On any ship. You must have a certain glow. :eek:
