Thanks for the reminder. I will probably be here, but feeling like death warmed over this morning with strep throat. And it's a beautiful sunny day, I'm champing to get outside again.:( The weather forecast is back to rain, showers, heavy rain etc etc for the rest of the week. Still, at least we don't have to shovel it.;)

Sorry to hear it - as Scrapnana said - Sailaways are a great distraction!

We had a really red sky this morning, so I am expecting a change in the weather, too. Stocked up at the grocery store!

Asked this question last night with no reply. Why on World cruise,Amsterdam yesterday and Prisendam today is est. sail time 11:00 PM?

Loading extra supplies? Extra time for passengers traveling from around the world? Just the way it is?

Is there a special event on first night World Cruises?

I don't have an answer either but do have a partial non-answer. A member of our roll call posted a list of special events and there was none for January 4. The first special event is the Captain's Welcome tomorrow. Good planning to give him a day to cool off after last night's frustrations.

I imagine there are some unusual stores to be loaded and some special decorations and configurations to the ship but that's just a guess.

Startwin, I hope you're feeling better soon.

Roy

Sorry to hear about your throat. Have you something to take to ease it?

I think it is an icky day everywhere. Here, in an hour the temp dropped 20 degrees, from 51 to 31 and it is drizzly. Tomorrow the high is 12 so I am gong to make a big pot of ham bone veggie soup.

We have a beautiful sunny summers day, not a cloud to be seen, good for a Monday morning.:D

Checking in.... have I missed anything?

We have a gorgeous, brilliantly sunny day here, the mountains looks glorious. I may take a drive into Vancouver in awhile.

Amsterdam sailed at 6:30 on her world voyage last year so I wonder if she was always scheduled to leave at 11 this year or if it was changed at the last minute to allow supplies/pax delayed by the weather.

We are set to sail at 6 pm local UK time and the QM2 at 4:30 - both leaving on world voyages.

I would think that if it was only weather-related, then all the ships would be moving to a later departure time.

Sorry to hear that you have strep. :( Take care of yourself...curl up under a blanket and watch the sail away!

Fixed the connection between the computer and mouse so now I can watch.

For those of you who watch it, Downton Abby returns tonight.:):)

Yay!!

Thanks for the advice re the strep throat - am feeling way better now the antibiotics have kicked in. I get this at least once a year.:( The day is too nice to waste, so no curling under a blanket for me!

Eric Dowis, the CD from our Ryndam cruise last year (married to the lead singer), just reported on FB that he's joining the Nieuw Amsterdam today...and Kari, his wife, will join him in 3 weeks.

Dave Shea must be going on vacation. He's next going to the Eurodam, I believe.
