Cabin location advise

Where are you crusing to and which stateroom type are you looking at.

Personally I prefer mid-ship...but everyone has their personal preference. Does motion bother you...(sea sickness) We were aft on our first cruise and never had a problem with movement.

Our next cruise, we are on deck 7, mid ship, portside which I love.

Hi

Deck 7 is a great choice, virtually no serious sources of noise disturbance from above or below or from any other source for that matter.

We prefer aft since we will be closest to the elevators that lead to great attractions: Windows Cafe and Discoveries Restaurant. You are also closer to Mosaic, the area near the Casino where Trivia takes place, and the laundry.

However, if we frequent some of the above areas too avidly then the forward staterooms are closer to the gym and do require a short trek to the food centers thus, perhaps, helping to steel our will against overindulgences. Looking Glass and the theatre are not major attractions to us, but the Internet Cafe has the strongest signal. In our experience, at ports, disembarkation for tours usually occurs forward, and the meeting site for ship's tours is the theatre.

Therefore, given the small size of the ship, you may indeed wish to focus more on choosing between port and starboard.

As uktog points out above, if you have questions re: a specific stateroom, she has kindly collated information in a "sticky" above and you may find comments concerning that room or one nearbye. We are deeply in her debt for creating this resource.

Enjoy your cruise!

Deck 7 is a good one because it has cabins above and below. For non-suite cabins it's the deck I'd prefer. In addition I consider the following:

  • I avoid the adjoining cabins marked with a black line between them because of potential noise issues
  • I avoid the cabins on the port side near the self service laundry (7076 area)
  • I don't like to be too far forward.
  • The very last cabins on each side at the back have a slightly restricted view from the balcony because of the shape of the hull and I'd avoid those if possible

Thanks for the help. We are looking at the 14 night from Southampton next August. I was looking at 7102, 7104, and 7028. I did read the cabin tread and it was helpful.

Thanks again, hope we meet on a cruise. Looking forward to Azamara.

You are portside if you choose one of these. I chose 7034 for our B2B...and I don't have to change rooms. I love the location and not far from the self serve laundry but far enough I won't hear any noise from there when it's busy. :D

They are all good. 7028 has a solid bulkhead to one side which gives a bit more privacy to that side of the balcony (and maybe more soundproofing between cabins too?).

That is what I was thinking also. We have had a cabin like that on the Summit. It was a crew access to the outside of the ship. I am concerned about the steps and elevator so close.

Thanks Steve

You'll be fine Steve. I've been very close to the stairs and elevators a few times. Never heard a thing. There's more of a space there than first appears on the deck plan and heavy traffic isn't an issue on these ships.

Thanks for the info. That is the cabin I am most interested in.

Have to agree. We were very close to the elevators and steps on our last cruise and didn't hear any noise from them at all. You should be just fine.

Great deck. Best place on any cruise is a deck between 2 decks of passenger cabins. I have been on deck 7 twice. Once in 7014. I booked a gty and got 7014. I was concerned that it was too far forward. Not a problem. In fact, ot was better than when I had a midship cabin on deck 7. 7014 was very quiet. Midship 7067 was noisy. I am booked into 6021 on my next cruise. I would not book aft cabins. Friends were booked into aft suites. Although the cabin was beautiful, you could feel more vibrations in the aft. Have a great cruise.

Sailed in aft cabins on deck 6 and 8. We loved them because they were quiet. No vibrations etc..Only complaint was the halls and cabins were warmer than the front of the ship. I used to only book midship but TA talked me into an aft years ago...next cruise is on one of the mega ships with a very aft suite!

Right. Nothing like a stateroom on the stern. No wind on the balcony. Great sailaways. Can see both port and starboard sides. Beautiful view of the wake. No traffic past the room

They are wonderful! So glad I listened to my TA and started sailing in the aft cabins...and a stateroom on the stern is the ultimate!

I love the aft facing balconies too, but for me one of the downsides is the lack of breeze out there. Obviously depends on weather as to if this is a plus or minus for you. Last year's trip up the Suez was so hot I couldn't even sit at the aft sunset bar. Had an aft facing cabin in the Caribbean and it was too warm to sit out on the balcony for long. You can't beat the 180°+ view though. I prefer an aft facing cabin on the corner so there's a breeze to one side, but unfortunately these are the expensive suites on Quest and Journey.
