One More IDEA About the Drink Packages

I think (could be mistaken) that daily "limit" for premium package is $86 per person. What if you go over $86? Some people easily can - I doubt Celebrity will be paying for their drinks. Did anybody has experience of going over the limit of $86?

Where did you find this in print or is it just a rumor?

The beverage packages are unlimited. You can have as many as you can safely consume. The only reason they might cut you off is if you are clearly intoxicated (or seriously over caffeinated)!

The cost of the package has nothing to do with how many drinks you can receive in a day. One of the things I love about the package is that if a frozen drink melts (or I just don't like it very well) I can ask for and receive another one.

I'm a bit confused with this. While there is no limit on how many drinks one can have in a day it does not cost $86/day for the premium package, it would cost approx $81 to upgrade from classic to premium, but that is over the week of the cruise.

I'm a confused newish cruiser. On my last HAL cruise, we had our own wine in cabin, (2 yrs ago there was no limit so we brought our own at a bottle a day.)We had coffee juice etc in MDR which was free. Had our own water bottles that we refilled at the buffet or in cabin and always had our drinks during the 3 daily happy hours 2 for 1 deals. Our NCL was much the same but we also won free drinks at the sail away party. Never spent more than $20 a day tops. Now this is my first Celebrity cruise and it sounds like drinks are charged everywhere! I'd rather spend my hard earned money on excursions etc and am wondering if I'd better get the package now. What drinks are free and besides alcohol what are charged. Also, do they charge for pastry items in the cafes?

Is there a way to track how much of your daily drink value you already used? With all the specialty drinks and juices in the morning and beer in the afternoon I would like to know what is left for dinner, so I don't go over. Can sommelier or bar attender tell me what amount is left on my "daily drinking account"?

But you can go to guest relations and get a printout of your bill. Every drink and card swipe will be there with a zero price.

Everything is the same as you have previously experienced, except Celebrity has a 2 bottle carry on cap on the wine.

The package is unlimited. As long as you are "appropriate" to be served. One drink at a time, however.

There is no daily limit, cap or maximum. It is just like an all you can eat buffet, one price and you pitch till you win:D

If you choose the Classic as your perk under the 123 program and want to upgrade to the Premium package the cost to do so is $11.50 per day x the number of days in your sailing.

I count 9 alcoholic drinks....clearly the package is a good deal for that individual. If I drank 9 drinks a day, I wouldn't be here typing....I'd probably have fallen off the ship.

I counted 6 (or 7 if letting their hair down)...specialty coffee does not (necessarily) mean alcohol...a cappuccino, latte, etc. are specialty

A beer or the drink of the day by the pool, $6 ea

The sun is hot hot hot! A cold beer or drink of the day is in order, $6 ea

time to meet friends to watch the sun set from the Sunset Bar, $6 ea.

a couple of glasses of wine with dinner

A cocktail with friends at one of the watering holes on ship $7 ea, or 2 if we are letting our hair down!

50/50 chance, anything is possible, but with the typical person sailing on a Celebrity ship being a mature adult, we have not seen this. We have friends that have been purchasing the packages for a number of years, they are nothing new. The pkg makes it cost effective to order 3 glasses of wine which would cost $12-14 ea than buying a bottle @ $50-60 and only getting 2 glasses each. And yes, there is a lot more to what the total pkg encompasses than just booze.

Here is my "RUFF" run down of a day with a drink pkg on another thread

For us at least, the package was not just about drinks that would make us not remember the cruise! It was everything else that the pkg includes.

A speciality coffee each on the balcony while the wifester is putting on her face, $5 ea.

Evian or San Pellegrino with fresh squeezed juice with that second coffee at breakfast, $15 ea.

Grab a bottle water on the way to stake out a deck chair, $4 ea.

$24 each before any mind altering liquid is consumed.

A beer or the drink of the day by the pool, $6 ea

Then off to lunch, maybe a soda, or another San Pellegrino $5 ea

The sun is hot hot hot! A cold beer or drink of the day is in order, $6 ea

The burger at the Mast Grill is calling our names, it does not go down with out some liquid assistance, $5 ea, then it is time to meet friends to watch the sun set from the Sunset Bar, $6 ea. Afternoon total $28.

And the evening fun has yet to begin.

San Pellegrino and a couple of glasses of wine with dinner, and another speciality coffee with desert, $26 ea

Now it is time for some mind altering sampling to happen, or not A cocktail with friends at one of the watering holes on ship $7 ea, or 2 if we are letting our hair down!

One more bottle water on the way back to the cabin just in case we get thirsty during the night, $4. Evening total, $44.

Morning, $24, day, $28, evening $44, total $96.00 each useing the low end of the cost scale and not much mind altering substance.

Some evening's we will grab another coffee ( or worse) and go and sit on deck 5 to unwind, listen to the swoosh of the waves gently breaking down the side of the ship before heading to the cabin.

An important point to consider is how many days you will be off the ship most of the day therefore not having all the drinks mentioned. It is mainly sea days the people will be taking most advantage of the drink packages. If you wanted to try it out for a few days only to experience it, you can sign up on board and perhaps just have it for last last few days only, I think there is a 3 or 4 day minimum.

I would tend to agree with OPs theory. I upgraded to the premium and always made sure that I drank the premium drinks and drank a lot as I wanted to try hem all. This time going on the same cruise I am staying with the include Classic and will not be drinking that much. 🍺🍷🍹🍸

It is a 14 day cruise and I already have tried everything and since I am not paying for the upgrade there is no reason to be sure of not missing something.

Thank you all for your answers! Now I feel so much better!:) Like I said, we don't drink a lot (I mean alcohol), but we drink a lot of water (and in glass bottles only). And since it's "unlimited" use then I should be fine.:D

We have chosen lots of OBC, rather than classic alcohol package, for our cruise. I am considering whether to purchase a package on board. My wife, due to health reasons, cannot drink alcohol. Am I able to purchase the package for myself only or, if not, can I go with it and get her the non-alcoholic one or do we both need to purchase identical packages?

you don't have to buy the same package...or any package. Each person can buy the package they want.

You can purchase the package for yourself and nothing for your wife if you want. Can also purchase her a NA package if she wants one. The only time it needs to be identical is if you are choosing it as a perk.

You don't have to both book the same package

You both don't have to have a package either.

I am going on the Summit 1st week of September and chose the Classic drink package. Will that allow me to have bottled water when we leave the ship?

You can indeed. We also pick a bottle up from the bar as we retire for the night, sometimes we drink it, sometimes we keep it in the mini-fridge until morning and take it off ship.

How does the Classic drinks package work with your stateroom mini bar. Presuming that the drinks consumed would be within the package criteria?

Not part of any package.

Mini bar is part of the rooms department, not F&B. So it and the bottled water in the cabin will be billed at normal minibar rates. This is noted in the terms and conditions of the promo.

If you have the REFLECTION SUITE only available on Reflection, the Mini bar is included. Starting next April, mini bar will be included in all suites (as will be beverage package) as part of the new suite perks program coming up.

Hi, your presumption is incorrect. Nothing in the mini bar is included

in any of the drink packages.

We just booked our first cruise on Silhouette for December. Would the "free" (included) package be sufficient for simple drinks (a liquor and a mixer) or should we consider upgrading the package to cover that?

Thanks for the info. Wouldn't really be worth upgrading it with the amount we'd drink, so I'm glad to hear we'll be fine.
