Sitting in Lounges without ordering a drink

My husband and I order wine with our dinner, but due to medication, we stop after dinnertime. Has anyone sat in the lounges and not ordered a drink? We are not soda drinkers. Do you feel out of place?

No problem not ordering a drink at all. A server will come over to you and ask if you want something. When you say you are all set, they will put a napkin in front of you to signal the other servers that you have been taken care of and aren't still waiting for a server.

Go and enjoy the music. You won't be the only ones not drinking.

And then it will be up to you, IF you change your mind, to get the attention of a server.

It happens all the time. Especially during events that bring in the "non-regulars" for things like trivia in the Schooner Bar. The servers are usually pretty good and I find once they ask if we want a drink and we say no, they leave us alone.

Very glad you asked this question because there are people who don't realize it's perfectly fine to go to any bars/lounges without ordering a drink.

At our M&G a couple wanted to know how to contact our TA. I told them to meet us at the bar we like before dinner and I'd give them our TA's contact information. They didn't think they would be allowed in the lounge because they didn't drink. Also, they didn't realize they didn't have to buy drinks to listen to the live music in the lounge later.

We are non-drinkers and order a soda maybe twice during a cruise. The bar staff are everywhere including the pool deck, showroom, dining room, casino and lounges. You are offered drinks everywhere you turn so it's not big deal to say "No Thank".

We are also non-drinkers and that pretty much includes pop. Once you have declined to order we have found the bar staff pretty much leaves you alone.

You paid to be there just like everyone else. I wouldn't give you a second look if you had a drink or not. Sometimes you just want to sit down and enjoy the scenery no matter where you're parked.

I second that. Relax your on your cruise too enjoy it

A couple times I've gone up to the tip-top bar -- is that Olive and Twist? I forget -- where the view is great . . . just to sit and read. Occasionally I just want to get away from my husband and kids, or they're all making noise, or whatever.

However, I only do that in the mornings or afternoons -- not in the evenings when the bars are crowded and the servers are making money from their drinking patrons.

And I always do order something to drink (though I do drink soda, so I can't share in the "there's nothing here that I want" thought process). I personally wouldn't feel right taking up a space in the bar, even during downtime, without ordering something.

Still waiting for some sad sack to comment that you are a bad person/cruiser for not ordering a drink.

As for me, I always get a soda. Got to make those soda stickers worth it! Most times when I go to play trivia, they have my Diet Coke ready for me by the third day. :D

Unless they expect people in interior cabins to sit in the dark, crying, clutching a postcard of a picture of the sea, I don't think any of the public areas are off limits to non-drinkers. Sometimes people aren't thirsty when they want to sit and read a book/look at the ocean :)

Do need to worry, because on the Azura it appeared that in the evenings over 95% of people in the entertainment lounges sat without ordering any beverage.
