I got upgrade from midship interior IA on the ruby to Oceanview plaza deck

I don't want this . I called and they told me it can take up to 48 he's to get my room back. Do you think I will get my original room back that I booked. Why would they upgrade me to a worse location I paid premium for midship why wouldn't they upgrade me to another midship room? Do I need to mark the reservation a certain way to upgrade only to midship

They "upgraded" us from aft Caribe deck to mid-ship Baja or whatever it was. We didn't want to be "upgraded" to a smaller balcony, of course, so I called and they put us back in the original cabin immediately. Don't understand why there would be any delay for something like this. You can ask them to mark your reservation "No upgrade". Did you check online to see if your original cabin is available?

The original cabin is not available online but they told me on the phone bc I called 15 min after receiving the upgrade notification that the website still shows the old info

Cruise personalized still shows the new rm

They told me a different sept handles room assignments and that's why it takes 48 hrs the princess person on the phone couldn't do it herself

I am confused. Don't you prefer oceanview to interior? People seem to LOVE the plaza Deck. Very close to International Café & Dining rooms as well as atrium. Forgive me if there is something I have misunderstood....

As a reminder, no upgrade is only a preference (although honored more often than not), and any move to a higher class is considered an upgrade regardless of location. You cannot request no upgrade based on location...

If the upgrade is due to the original cabin being needed, it may not be available without additional moves.

Why didn't you mark the booking no upgrade?

A Plaza OV is in an excellent location, at least you will have light.

I rather be midship and not midship forward due to rockiness

I also don't want public areas above or below my room which is why I picked interior midship caribe

Did you mark "no upgrade" when you booked the cruise?

I did not. Didn't mark no upgrade until I called them after receiving the email informing us of our upgrade to the smaller balcony. Would be nice if they had a "No upgrade unless..." option. No upgrade unless you'd like to put us in a suite LOL :)

There is an option that you will only be upgraded to a higher type cabin. That is Inside to Ocean view or balcony to minisuite.

I was upgraded to a higher level cabin from interior to Oceanview but don't like the midship forward location

Wanted to stay midship

They are telling me they can't move me back right away bc they gave my old cabin away already

So they have to relocate that person

I hope I get my old cabin back

Ooh, that's what we needed. They upgraded us from aft Caribe to a same size cabin with a small balcony, but I guess it was a higher category since it was mid-ship. Can't remember all the details since this was many months ago. We could have just booked another Caribe if they had given ours away, but I picked ours specifically because it's the very last cabin that has the extra little corner space on the balcony.

Hey Princess, how 'bout a mini-suite? ;)

Princess terminology "META" upgrade, from 1 Cabin type to another.

I hope it works out for the OP. My understanding was that Princess would not upgrade people who marked their reservations "no upgrade" without warning. If they booked through a travel agent, the travel agent receives the upgrade notice and has a certain amount of time to respond. I know that is how we received one of our upgrades, but that was more than a dozen years ago.

That's the preferred approach but not always the case. There was an extensive thread on this not too long ago, but the upshot is Princess will move people who have not opted out of any upgrade first, then metas, then if still necessary those who have requested no upgrade.

It's not common, but it could happen regardless of how the booking is tagged. And since they are doing it to fill a need there is no pre-notification at times.

Funny, when Princess removed my cabin for a guarantee without my permission  they were able to put it back while my travel agent was on the phone with them.

I read online that plaza deck p308 is very noisy bc of casino and after hours noise also don't want it due to ship rocking more

We just sailed last week in P201, very most front of the ship. It was an "upgrade" from an obstructed oceanview. I didn't want it either but getting moved back to an obstucted wasn't going to happen. I had the same reasoning, I get seasick fairly easily and felt I'd prefer to be mid ship. I can tell you now, your location is actually a good one. You will not hear much, if any, noise from above. The location is excellent being close to the IC, Piazza, dining rooms, etc. The movement in the ship was definitely more where we were but was barely at all at the cabins in the early 300's. I would say to you knowing now what I do that I would take your new cabin assignment over an inside on any deck. As for us, this was our first experience without a balcony in 7 princess cruises...never again. I'd rather pay the extra $$$ and have a balcony.

We have C752 booked on Grand Princess in May. I marked it "no upgrade for any reason". I would be quite upset about any upgrade. (OK... Perhaps I could be happy with an upgrade to a full suite but not to a mini suite or any other balcony room.) I check fairly regularly to make sure my booking still shows the proper cabin assignment.

We have an interior Caribe booked on Star Princess in November. I forget the cabin number but it's in the low 500s. If Princess wants to upgrade that one to a higher category I might not complain... ;)

Guarantees are easier because they didn't promise a specific cabing.

The most common involuntary change that is hard to recover is when someone wants a B2B in the same cabin.

I wonder if it talks about this in the passage contract. No one EVER reads it but it may cover upgrades, NUP earmarks and such. Someone read through all the fine print and report back to us ;)

PS, Plaza deck rules! I've stayed there a few times. Close to food, art gallery, wine bar , etc. If it's noisy, I must be deaf.
