The_Big_M Posted May 15, 2014 #129 Share Posted May 15, 2014 As posted by NOMAD 098 on another post;- " Just been on one of the social media sites to which Celebrity posts and read this, nearly fell off my chair laughing talk about not having a clue Celebrity Cruises UK Hi *******, thank you for getting in contact with us. Our drinks prices are changing onboard but we can assure you that the list of beverages we have listed on our World of Extras page are still included in our Classic Alcoholic Beverage Package. There are a small amount of beverages that have increased in price onboard and are no longer included in the Classic Alcoholic Beverage Package. These include Beefeater, Cuervo White, Cutty Stark, Jim Beam, Canadian Club, Seagram 7, Captain Morgan, Malibu, Amaretto and Baileys. We are currently working to update our communications worldwide to ensure everyone is up to date – if you would like to send us a private Facebook message with your email address and sail date, our team will be able to provide you with an up-to-date list of drinks included in your beverage package ahead of your holiday. Warm regards, Celebrity Cruises UK If memory serves me correctly all these are on the classic beverage package list posted by kevinyork except for Baileys which he posted later has been added" You could not make it up! __________________ There you go. So one Celebrity communication has now confirmed it. From what's been shown, though, it's a lot more than a small number dropped. It looked like over 25%. And each has people who like that particular one, not just Baileys.
espo56 Posted May 15, 2014 #130 Share Posted May 15, 2014 I booked during the 123 offer and I chose the drink package because I asked the cruise specialist if the banana daiquiri was included. He said yes and now it's not on the list. The drink package is basically worthless to me now. Maybe Celebrity could give us a do-over on our selections since the packages have changed since our booking? I would have chosen the OBC if I had known. I apologize for being disappointed. Bev I agree. The package is useless to me now too and I would prefer the on board credit also. Time to go back to Princess.
espo56 Posted May 15, 2014 #131 Share Posted May 15, 2014 The list is no complete. Ketel One is no longer included either. Even this communication is incorrect.
Highly Sociable Posted May 15, 2014 #132 Share Posted May 15, 2014 Are those prices including the 15% because it says at the bottom of the list that a gratuity will be added! If they are the net cost, and the classic package includes wines up to $8, then there is only one white and no red available. Or have I missed something? Hopefully they are the gross costs, but that little sentence at the bottom sure is confusing!

The_Big_M Posted May 15, 2014 #142 Share Posted May 15, 2014 It's ridiculous isn't it. Nothing new there. There's only one "Classic alcohol package" onboard, so everyone gets the same limits with that package, regardless of where they booked. However, the limits will change on the cruise, since some cruises have the price modified to include tips, and others don't.

chamima Posted May 15, 2014 #145 Share Posted May 15, 2014 OMG - We drink mostly the Catena Malbec (last photo) (which is $16/bottle locally, by the way)Two years ago it was $8.50/glass. Last year it was $9.50/glass. Now, even trying to remove the 15% , it seems to be around $11/glass. (And the bottle price hasn't changed AT ALL in those two years!) __________________ I have to amend my post and it's too late to edit. By two years ago I meant winter 2013 And by last year I was really just referring to this last February. So the increase is just that much more ridiculous. With all the cuts and price increases there doesn't seem to be any difference between the Non-Alcohol and the Alcohol package. cruisegirl1 Posted May 15, 2014 #146 Share Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the photo of the wine list. So, if no wines/sparkling wines on the list are $8 or less, does that mean that by default, there is no wine included in the package? All I really wanted was a few cappuccinos/lattes, a glass of Baileys in the evening and an occasional (regular) martini. Per the list on the Celebrity website, Baileys is not on the list. I can’t see any wine/sparkling wine under $8 ( although we’ll likely buy better bottles anyway) and I am reading that specialty coffees are questionable. What a waste. I know it was free, but the $300 cabin credit would have been a, better offer for us. I’m not going to upgrade for yet another $300+ extra just to get a drink or two. We qualify for Elite cocktails and the specialty coffees in the coffee house breakfast but we took the package just for convenience of not having to rush to the Elite cocktails ( we have a port intensive crusie) , or go to one place for coffee and other for full breakfast and for socializing since are traveling with Non Elite passengers. Every cruise is a learning experience. M Edited May 15, 2014 by cruisegirl1
sawyer_boy Posted May 15, 2014 #147 Share Posted May 15, 2014 We boarded on Saturday and have the Classic Package, as some 1500 passengers onboard do. The first day we noticed the price of drinks had increased, not just because the service charge is included with cruises departing the UK but against any recent menu postings on this forum and against our Eclipse trip last July. Additionally, the limits for the Classic Package had changed. It now reads as (all incl 15% tip): Wine by the Glass up to $10.50 Cocktails and Spirits up to $9.50 All other soft drinks, coffees/tea, frozen drinks, non premium water, smoothies and beers up to £7. Now we had a struggle the first day. We couldnt find a single bar menu that had a cocktail below the $9.50 level. Additionally the price of spirits wasnt on any menu anywhere. However, armed with a list of included brands for the Classic package as per Celebrity UKs website (as posted on another thread) we ordered a Tanqeray G+T, response 'not included', what about Bombay Sapphire? 'Not included but we can give you Gordons'. So basically lots of stuff previously available has now been priced over the Classic maximum price level. So being a little perplexed we headed to Guest Relations and I said we were confused as we didnt know what spirits were included nor could we find a bar menu showing any cocktails that were included. We were handed a pretty basis in-house A4 sheet showing the drinks that were now included since changes to the package were introduced last week. Wow was that a truncated list compared to last year and the list on Xs website! At least the list showed about 20 cocktails but way less than last year. Also the list was only being given out to those asking about inclusions at Guest Relations. We are our third day and keep meeting people who have no idea what is included as they dont have the list from Guest Relations. Additionally we keep being told by barstaff we can have drinks not shown on that list which are on their system as available to us but not on the list so even the list isnt correct! I spoke with the Food and Beverage Manager today about this. Whilst not having very high requirements for top shelf brands I showed him the list from the website and said we had booked when X had the 123 Promo and had viewed the brands available under the Classic Package at that time and indeed had checked again the week before our cruise. However we now find that they have cut back on whats covered but we only now about that now we are onboard. He kindly advised if something that was included before now isnt then maybe we might want to pay to upgrade to the premium package! Great, so to get what we expected was part of the promo we now have to pay more! He wouldnt budge a inch and said this was fleet wide and had come from Head Office and there was nothng he could do. Do I smell a rat here? Have they lured thousands of people onto cruises with their free Classic drinks package only to then restrict whats available to push more people to upgrade their package? I can only imagine there are going to be a lot of unhappy passengers in the weeks/months to come. Ive tried to photo the lists so hopefully you can read them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Easy solution, stop being a penny pincher or upgrade to premium package and stop complaining.
