ready2cruzagain Posted June 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2014 I seen this morning that Princess is running a Red, White & Blue sale and our cabin is the same price we paid but they are offering a $100 obc now. We are before final payment so I called my TA but TA said I am already booked so would not be eligible. No where do I see that this is a Flash sale or that it is for new bookings only. TA (large online firm) told me that I could call back after Princess opens and they could call Princess and see what they say. It seems as though every time I have tried to match prices before final payment with this TA they automatically give me the same answer...Princess does not allow cruises already booked to match price. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this sale getting the obc or am I in the wrong. I do not want to cancel booking and rebook because I do not want to lose my cabin. Nan_Sea Posted June 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2014 You need a new TA. We have gotten price decreases in the past and when that was not possible cabin upgrade , OBC . A good TA will negotiate for you.

A good TA will negotiate for you. Agreed. My TA has always gotten me price drops if it was before final payment in a matter of one telephone call. The only complication is if you took a promotional fare with a non-refundable deposit, then you would have a choice to make. But your TA should give you that as the reason, not because your "already booked". I call BS :)
Calgon1 Posted June 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 28, 2014 And, when you do go shopping for that new TA, get one who is C.L.I.A. certified. http://www.cruising.org/vacation/why-plan-your-cruise-vacation-clia-travel-agent i.e. - Many "TAs" work for an agency and, basically, sell cabins/packages. You want someone who works for you, not an agency!
skynight Posted June 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Our TA always manages to get the promo, when outside of the final payment period. Sometimes it's a cancel and re-book, sometimes the current booking is just changed. Also, the agent does not charge for this service. At least twice that I can remember we got the lower price after final payment period, and received a credit on our cc.
onefine89 Posted June 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Sounds like your TA doesn't want to be bothered..........time for a better TA who wants to work with you, not against you! Good TAs always have their ways to work things out for the better.
Vette Gal Posted June 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 28, 2014 I just rebooked my Dec. cruise under this promo. It is for new bookings only, however, my travel agent called Princess and was able to keep my stateroom. Please be aware that this promo has non-refundable and non-transferable deposits. billco Posted June 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 28, 2014 No where do I see that this is a Flash sale or that it is for new bookings only. "This offer applies to new bookings only, is capacity controlled and may not be combinable with any other public, group or past guest discount. RickEk Posted June 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 28, 2014 "This offer applies to new bookings only, is capacity controlled and may not be combinable with any other public, group or past guest discount. " So, it would just involve a cancel and a rebook for the OP. Easily accomplished.
NavyVeteran Posted June 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 28, 2014 I also had a booking that was included in this sale. Same price for cabin but additional OBC. I called and was given the option to rebook with the same cabin. However, this sale has nonrefundable deposits, and I decided not to rebook for that reason. #1Nanna Posted June 28, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 28, 2014 I saw this promotion and noticed that it was at a lower fare than I had paid for our Jan 2015 Mexico cruise. I called my TA and I received a $160 price drop from what we had paid, plus the additional onboard credit. Ours was not a new booking, and we have not made final pmt. We did not have to cancel & rebook, the TA just called Princess & they adjusted our fare and added on the extra OBC. The only stipulation was that our deposit became non-refundable. We were ok with that, so we did it. This is my first time getting a price drop, so I was pretty excited!!! : ) I also use an online TA, but have booked 3 cruises with them & always found them to be very helpful. A good TA is important, IMO. Good Luck! I would try again.... I hope it works out for you.
Thrak Posted June 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Had to take a look. Sadly, this won't work for us as our Mexico sailing is out of SF rather than out of LA. I would have no problem asking my TA to do a cancel and rebook for the additional OBC if the cruise fit our existing itinerary. Any TA who wouldn't do that (or who doesn't know it can be done) doesn't deserve your business.
lovevacadays Posted June 28, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 28, 2014 As others have said I think you should look for a new TA. While this sale stipulated it was for new bookings only your TA should have been willing to spend the time getting you what you wanted.

I just called in and got the OBC added. While it is technically a rebook, it is transparent. Princess did it immediately so no problem with keeping the same room. They gave me the new terms with the same room. The deposit did become non-refundable since that was the new terms. Since FCC was used for the down payment, not much of an issue. caribill Posted June 29, 2014 #18 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) Princess also seems to be running a special sale for Southern California residents. Today I received in escargot-mail 9 offers marked "Southern California Resident Special." Not sure why I received this mailing as Southeast Texas is quite distant from Southern California. dorisis Posted June 29, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Where did you see the sale. I could not find it? I checked it out and it is more now for our category cabin than when we booked even with OBC.

Would have worked out for me in the end but decided not to do it for the same reasons as you, nonrefundable deposit. I guess the online TA that I use always states no but when asked to, it does contact Princess in a 3 way to make sure.

LOL...I got the same mailing and I live in Bellingham Washington. Of course, it did prompt me to take a look at the Princess website and I ended up booking a cabin for a transatlantic. It wasn't anything that was listed in the mailer, but I guess you could say it was an effective mailer for Princess. :)
Thrak Posted June 29, 2014 #23 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I saw in another thread where someone on my November cruise did book through this offer so I had to look again. D'Oh! The cruise we are booked on is there after all but... We are booked in an OV and there's no extra OBC for that category so we will just stick with what we have. We're actually paying less than the price showing for OV so I guess we're doing OK without the extra OBC.

My TA is doing an escorted cruise on this one and she got us $50.00 per person less that what the Princess site was showing, because she has a group booking. To the OP, please get a new TA. YWW Posted June 30, 2014 #25 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Just keep in mind this "red, white and blue" promo is not across the board cut on all categories in the designated cruises. Fare actually went up on some during this "sale". We booked a Panama cruise with a balcony for early next year. Our price was $6438 (for two) but now the same category with this "sale" is now priced at $7100+. Plus no refund on the deposit. TA told us it was a misleading sale.
