KirkNC Posted July 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I hare to see Cellar Master go, I enjoy that but it was underutilized. Not sure a place selling beer will do any better.
Andy Posted July 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Oh well. We enjoy Cellar Masters, but understand Celebrity's decision. The venue is often empty - except when Perry Grant is performing. I suppose a change is in their best interests. I guess Perry's headed back to the Sky Lounge. Looks like Gastrobar will eventually become a fixture on all S-Class ships. Edited July 31, 2014 by Host Andy
koolforkatz Posted July 31, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2014 We are on the sailing before the refurb. I hope it isn't going to impact us too much towards the end, especially since the last couple of days are sea days :(
Cruising89143 Posted July 31, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Glad to see that the Gastrobar will be added. I hope that they update all of the ships with this venue.
flyingv4me Posted July 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I agree. I can't wait to see the Gastrobar on the Silhouette! Maybe on the Solstice by next summer? Probably wishing for too much...
Rare Turtles06 Posted July 31, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Thanks for the link. I wonder what the new "dining venue" will be -- perhaps the Lawn Club Grill or the Porch?
Gracie115 Posted July 31, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the link. I wonder what the new "dining venue" will be -- perhaps the Lawn Club Grill or the Porch? That is probably the suite dining room, or the Gastrobar itself, Lawn Club Grill is only Silhouette and Reflection as Eclipse still has the Hot Glass Show. Very glad to see this, we will be on the 1st sailing after the drydock...woo hoo!! Edited July 31, 2014 by Gracie115
drinkspackageexpert Posted July 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Thanks for the link. I wonder what the new "dining venue" will be -- perhaps the Lawn Club Grill or the Porch? I think that could be referring to the Suite Dining for Suite guests.
Sascol Posted July 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Not sure I understand why they picked this ship - would it not make more sense to do this to the oldest ship in the calss (Solstice) and then work their way forward? I guess they have their reasoning but I would love to know what that reasoning is!
rebeccalouiseagain Posted July 31, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Gastrobar is a horrible name. Really? Why not call it a "Pub"- people love pub food. Edited July 31, 2014 by rebeccalouiseagain

I guess they have their reasoning but I would love to know what that reasoning is! Perhaps there is a stronger demand for the pub scene in the UK market. It could also be determined by the availability of shipyard space on the Atlantic basin rather than Pacific. Then again it could have been determined by throwing a dart at a wall chart... ;)

nyfeds Posted July 31, 2014 #14 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Hoping the Gastrobar has some typical British fare and drinks - fish and chips, etc. as well as bitters and cider!
Ex-Airbalancer Posted July 31, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I think they should move the spa/ gym area to where the Oceanview cabins are and change the spa/gym into more balcony cabins maybe more suites

Quo Vadis? Posted July 31, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Gastrobars are quite popular. On a ship, any kind of bar is usually quite popular... ;)

terrierjohn Posted July 31, 2014 #20 Share Posted July 31, 2014 I think that's what they are referring to (Suite Dining) as well. I assumed the new dining referred to was the Gastrobar, where the review said the food would be ordered on ipads like Qsine.

Soltice may receive the Gastrobar on her next scheduled dry dock but Eclipse was up next on the schedule.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted July 31, 2014 #22 Share Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) OK, I'll expose my ignorance here: what is the difference between a "European style" roulette wheel and an "American style" one? And how does going from European style roulette to American style make the casino LESS American and more British? A Sixth? Posted July 31, 2014 #23 Share Posted July 31, 2014 OK, I'll expose my ignorance here: what is the difference between a "European style" roulette wheel and an "American style" one? And how does going from European style roulette to American style make the casino LESS American and more British? There's one more "slot" for the ball to fall into on an American wheel. 37 (in French/European roulette) or 38 (in American roulette) colored and numbered pockets on the wheel. So the odds of winning just went down a bit.
