I think they should move the spa/ gym area to where the Oceanview cabins are and change the spa/gym into more balcony cabins maybe more suites

I don't. I like those oceanview cabins on the Plaza Deck.

I would hope that wine is available too!

As a wine card user for Cellar Masters for 3 of our Celebrity cruises, I have to say I am not sorry to see it go. I never experienced recognition or assistance there- I'd come in, survey the various enomatic offerings and serve myself without any acknowledgement from the Cellar Masters sommeliers. On our last cruise, I decided that I'd rather order from our MDR sommelier and in doing so received the personalized service missing from Cellar Masters.

On the Infinity, the only people in Cellar masters were the people walking through from the MDR to the Atrium or people trying to find Bistro on 5. I preferred the pre-solticized design of the Infinity.

Not sure I understand why they picked this ship - would it not make more sense to do this to the oldest ship in the calss (Solstice) and then work their way forward? I guess they have their reasoning but I would love to know what that reasoning is!

I'm sure their reasoning is to simply follow their dry dock schedule which makes sense based on what is involved here. Looks like Solstice isn't scheduled until Nov. '16. Silhouette in May '16.

Thanks for the link. I think the new "Gastrobar" sounds too much like an illness although having the pub theme may be better utilised than the current cellarmasters. :D

They like them in Melbourne:D

And in Canberra lol http://www.urbanspoon.com/nf/344/46873/46454/ACT/Canberra/Gastropub-Restaurants

OK, I'll expose my ignorance here: what is the difference between a "European style" roulette wheel and an "American style" one? And how does going from European style roulette to American style make the casino LESS American and more British?

I'm sure they have got this wrong-the article states:

The American-style casino will become more "British" with 12 new British-themed slot machines, and American-style roulette wheels will replace European-style ones.

If the roulette wheels with a 0 & 00 are "American style" and the ones with just a 0 are "European style", then surely it is the other way round and European-style roulette wheels will replace the current American style ones.

All of the Celebrity ships which I have been on have "American style" roulette with both 0 & 00. If they are changing Eclipse to "become more British" then they must be introducing "European Style roulette" with just a 0 as British casinos only have European style roulette-we do not have roulette tables in UK Casinos with 00.

Or maybe Celebrity is like my English pen-friend who doesn't believe England is or should ever be European... ;)

I read that too after I posted what the difference was.... and yes... EVERY Celebrity ship I've been on has "0" and "00" so :confused::confused:

Perhaps the casinos will take your money as Euros or British pounds but pay out in USD.

I must admit, I have been to some of these establishments and never heard of them called GastroBars or GastroPubs. It must be the new fad in yupiness to say your bar or pub is a 'Gastro...'.:D

In the UK the term Gastropub is reasonably common, but in my opinion usually means that you get pretty looking pub grub with half the portions at twice the price!

We were on the Eclipse last year and never went near Cellar Masters. As I'm with her again after the refurb, I probably wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't seen this thread!

Love the ship btw

OK, now I'm really worried. I'm booked on the April Transatlantic and it looks like this is the first cruise after drydock so what happens if they can't get this all done in time?

I tried this once before - booked the inaugural cruise on Carnival Sunshine only to hear on Facebook 3 week before leaving that our cruise was cancelled. At that one was from Venice so very complicated with overseas flights booked with frequent flier miles.

I'm worried - has Celebrity been good about keeping on schedule in the past?

Lisah-

They did the same upgrades to Equinox this spring during her drydock and was fine on the next sailing. No worries about cancelling the TA we are both on. The staterooms are not being worked on at all and both of the areas in question are already there it's really a matter of changing furniture/signage and a few other things which are easy on a 10-12 day dry dock.

Thanks Gracie - that does help. I lost so much money the last time this happened that we swore no more cruises after dry dock!

The whole idea of this trip was to unplug and rest and that is easiest while on a cruise ship with no high speed internet so the boss can't "just ask a few questions" while I'm on vacation. And its also me, I have a hard time walking away from work and not checking to make sure all projects are going well which is why we've started doing vacations where internet and phones are harder to use. A transatlantic crossing sounded so peaceful and like the perfect way to get away and relax.

Anyone think the M class will get the Gastrobar? Doesn't Infinity have a dry dock scheduled for November of this year ? No announcement about changes on her...

We are just off Millennium and enjoyed a lot of wine in Cellar Masters. FWIW, the Cellar Master did not think there would be any changes on the M class ships and they were already selling beer there.

Well that's ironic....one of the exact reasons we cruise too.... When the ship pulls away from the dock I can feel the stress start to drop away and when the phones stop working the farther away we get the happier I am!!!

I think this will be a wonderful cruise and the drydock enhancements will only make it better, at least that's what I'm reading from people who have been on Equinox since these improvements were made in April.:)

Weve only been in Cellar Master to see Perry Grant. We felt it a little imposing and the wine machines clinical. It was always empty whenever Perry wasnt on so any attempt at change is good. However with Perry preferring Cellar Masters to the Sky Lounge (and the smaller venues suiting his audience) it will be interesting to see how this goes.

I dont like the name Gastrobar. Its like a restaurant being called 'restaurant'. Couldnt they give it a name rather than a 'noun'?
