As to where prices are going generally, I think we'll have to wait for the start of the cruise season to see where we are on the supply/demand curve. I'm hoping for some last minute specials, but then again I'm always hoping for that. Otherwise the cruise industry may be pricing me out of the market. 😭

Have you considered the '26 WC sectors - it seems they are scrapping Island Princess WC out of Miami and replacing with the fabulous Coral Princess 🤔😏 Edited July 28 by Porky55

The parsimonious part of me just can't get past that. 🤑 1

On my first half world cruise, the ship travelled from Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, with a farewell ceremony at each. Then we cruised across the South Pacific islands via Panama Canal, to New York, then Rotterdam, to Southhampton. They held Greek dance classes every morning from 11 am, which I used to get up in time for. This cruise and the return cruise set the benchmark for all future cruises. True but I was surprised by some of the cruiselines represented and the number of closed loop cruises on this list. In addition to MSC there’s quite a few sailings on UK P&O Azura as well as a peppering from RCI, X (with some creative spelling 🤦♂️), and Princess. Of course, one needs to factor in the airfare but several people have pointed out that they fly to Sydney or Brisbane to board a ship anyway. I stopped at $100/person/night on this list while on the more local list I went up to $120/person/night. It just goes to show that there ARE bargains still to be had. Whether or not those particular cruises work for you is another matter entirely. And we aren’t doing too badly here in Australia compared with O/S. Anyway, it's a fun exercise and I hope others find it interesting and/or helpful.

For that local market, it becomes enough of a deterrent for us all to get a look-in at a good price. Overall, I think it has all become a bit easy and we become spoiled for choice, with so many preferring to just do return cruises from their nearest homeport. Similarly, Azura is geared for UK passengers to fly to the Canary Islands, for which P&O sells fly/cruise packages. It looks to be a hard sell.
GOTTODOIT Posted August 3 #6011 Share Posted August 3 I have been checking out the prices for NCL cruises as we are Diamond so have sailed a lot of NCL cruises. I checked the pricing on NCL AUD site and then did a dummy booking on a US TA online site and the difference in pricing is quite significant, Taking into account the exchange rate and additional adds on, the drink dining package, gratuites, there is thousands of dollars difference in the pricing. We cruise with 3 other couples from the US and they have sent me screen shots of cruises with pricing because we are still trying to decide where to cruise. I( couldn't believe the pricing they where showing me. US TA's now have to include in their pricing, port fees and taxes so I only have to add the additional charges. Has anyone else found this. Anyone booking with US TA's. My Sydney NCL rep called me about booking a cruise because we have Cruise First Certificates but reluctant to book within AUD because of the large price difference. I priced 2 cruises B2b, and just for an interior the price difference between US and AUD is thousands. Want to stay loyal to NCL but if they are going to rip off, price gouge australian cruisers then might be time for a change. Sick and tired of receiving emails with price reductions and when I check there is no actual price reduction at all. I have sailed p&O, Princess ( Elite ), HAL, Royal Carribean, Costa, so will start looking elsewhere. I have been reading all the postings on MSC so might be time to give them a try.
Rare cruiser3775 Posted August 4 #6012 Share Posted August 4 I used a very large US cruise travel agent to book a cruise with Princess from the US back to Australia last year. They were considerably cheaper, and they also got me a cabin for a single traveller at the twin share price, which saved me thousands. The agent told me they can only deal with Australian cruisers for some cruise lines. Others will not accept the bookings. 2
GOTTODOIT Posted August 4 #6013 Share Posted August 4 Of course, there are Australians with australian passports who live in the USA, have a residential US address so making a booking with a US TA is no problem. On a very large US TA site where I research cruises and prices, they have a phone number for australians to call toll free. Having close friends in the US who have offered to book for us is a bonus should a TA not be able to take a booking from us because we don't reside in the US. All documentation is now online, check in etc.
Mr_Indecisive Posted August 4 #6014 Share Posted August 4 I found a small difference between US and AUD pricing on NCL, but still enough to fire up the VPN and book it via the US website. Noting that this is including the optional daily service charge (less optional via Aus booking), and separate free at sea gratuities. Additional benefits can include buying the CruiseFirst, especially when increased from 150 to 250, in USD for additional savings.
Ondine Posted August 4 #6015 Share Posted August 4 I booked NCL for this Christmas (B2B Melb/Auck/Melb) because we don't have much out of Melbourne after Princess leaves in December. I thought it was pricey at the time, however I have been able to get it re-fared each time the price has dropped and now the fare is around 20% cheaper than when I booked in February. My Norwegian pp is easy to deal with and happy to chase the price reductions. Also travelling solo there is a solo fare available. At first I had to book the 3 for Free option which is all inclusive, drinks/internet/speciality dining/shore excursions etc but a sailaway price has now come out. Not much of a saving though so I haven't changed yet. I have also got a circumnavigation of Australia on Crown Princess booked and the price for that, which is 29 nights, balcony standard fare, solo is now $1,000 dearer than the price for my all inclusive 29 nights (Christmas and New Year) Norwegian Sun fare which may yet be reduced further. Compared to what I usually pay for Princess they are really price gouging the round Aus trips. Norwegian is now far better value. I see that Silver Moon is going to do a few B2Bs from Melbourne during 2025/26 season and the price for those is really heart stopping. Oh boy!! Doesn't stop me dreaming of winning Tatts.

Seems like the northern hemisphere are much like us - good deals are out of season. Here's a funky thought. With P&O Australia out of the way, does that leave room for a ship like P&O UK's Azura to spend the summer here for those that see the P&O brand as essential for cruising? All rhetorical - but it does seem they are making no money from UK cruisers flying to Santa Cruz. 2

Freyta Posted Monday at 07:45 PM #6020 Share Posted Monday at 07:45 PM May not be for everyone, but P&O are having fares from $64.20 per night for interior, and $83.80 for obstructed ocean view, Auckland to Melbourne departing on the 30th of October (this month!!) PA24-X445N is the fare code I believe.

I can see it suiting some P&O lovers from Melbourne or Auckland with family in the other city. Starting from $321pp it must be cheaper than flying and a far better way to travel in my opinion.
Rare cruiser3775 Posted Wednesday at 12:22 AM #6022 Share Posted Wednesday at 12:22 AM Sorry to see on your international latest list, Sparky, that there are NO bargains to be had from 7th May to 8th October. Also how do you prefer deals posted? Something like "Melbourne - Sydney (x1234) $200/$100p/n"?
