El Cheapo Cruises Thread

Just had an email through for some last minute Cunard sailings - interior only available.

Queen Elizabeth, 28 Feb 2018 - Sydney to Osaka - 15 days - $849 per person

Makes it ESEA to go CRUISING!

WOW...I've been looking at Japan lately.... with that price i could almost consider buying a suit so that i don't get bounced for wearing shorts at meals (as though a suit helps me digest my meal). Pity Cunard doesn't have a FlowRider.

Hi Datone and thanks for posting this great special. Is it still available? I used your hint of where to look (esea to go cruising) but couldn't find anything close to the prices you listed. :( I did however sign up for their email specials. Any advice?

Hi Steve - this was emailed to me Thursday. There was only a limited number of cabins and at that price, I would think they went very quickly. You could try phoning the company to check just in case. Otherwise all I can suggest is sign up to the various online companies, check your emails regularly (if you can) and jump on it when you see a deal you want. I also check this thread at least daily to see what others have posted.

The emails and/or newsletters from agents are where you will get the bargains . Rather than put them on a web site that will be around forever they will mail the flash sale bargains to the selected clients who are interested in cruising and as stated they usually go real quick.

Begs the question ...

If they can do it for that price.....Why are we being ripped off re Hotel prices?

They have to leave port and cannot take last minute passengers during the trip so they want to fill the ship Hoitels wait for walk ins

That's not the standard price. And they gain extra revenue from the people onboard (and relatively fixed costs whether full or empty) whereas hotels don't get a lot of extra revenue from occupants, and can cut costs from e.g. cleaners for rooms that are empty.

:DI must have had all my ducks in a row today:D

Booked this, and TA is giving $50 off for Valentines Day, AND scored $25.00 off my next tank of diesel with my AA card, AND the TA undercut the airline website fare by $50.
