Absolutely unbelievable! That takes the cake. I give you credit for not completely losing it. I seriously don't know what I would have done but it would not have been pleasant. Look at it this way. These 2 must go around daily being miserable. Whatever made them like that, well that's the way they live their life. Hope you and yours had a wonderful cruise and that you put that "unfortunate" incident behind you.

When we were onboard the Getaway a couple weeks ago there was tons of fireworks seating on deck 17 so no need to stand in a crowd anywhere. The music from Spice was on the speakers on 16 and 17 so we had the same party atmosphere.

Who is good with Photoshop. I'd love to see some crowns added to our king and queen.

This.

The passive-agressive behaviors suggested above (standing in front of them, purposefully spilling drinks) are just as anti-social as the chair hogs. Grow a pair and tell those idiots about their behavior, or do nothing. Anything else is stooping to their level...

Although I suggested doing such things, in all actuality, I wouldn't have had the gall to do so. I'm not that much of a jerk. But, man, would I have been thinking about it! I might have actually said something a bit loudly to my bf on the way out about it, though. Mostly because I am a bit loud, blunt, and sometimes oblivious. ( oh man! Were those people right in front of us when I said that?? Oh well. I'm sure they knew what they were doing was wrong)

I would have said something. Most likely just a polite, "excuse me. Do you mind if my spouse and I use those extra chairs? There seems to be no more available." Even if she said no, at least I would have pointed out her blatant wrongdoing. Then I would have proceeded to stand directly in front of her, maybe accidentally tripping and spilling my drink in her direction.

I was gonna say ......*LOL* They would have found something nasty in their hair when got back to the cabin *LOL*

I would have probably said something like, "Excuse me, I notice you have a couple extra chairs underneath yours that it doesn't appear you are using. Would it be possible for us to use them? If you are saving them for someone else, we would gladly return them as soon as your other party arrives."

That is a very polite and excellent response. [emoji106]

This is not a good time for me, so I am so glad I was not there. I would have started with:

"are you freaking kidding me????:mad:..." And finished with give up those chairs or hit the ground!!"

We are flying to Miami in a few weeks to cruise (I REALLY need this cruise) and I hope there is no one who tries to keep me from reclining my seat, or we may be visiting Jacksonville:D Let alone such blatant rudeness.

It really is a very stressful time in my life right now:o

Whenever I see something like this I always loudly say..what kind of mother raises a person to act like this...I am so glad that I taught my children better...how embarrassed their family must be...

Or something along those lines. If indeed an elderly person was standing I would have found someone in charge and made them get those chairs for those who needed them...truly cannot abide by this kind of selfishness and utter rudeness. (I have a daughter in a wheelchair and believe me rude is an understatement...there have been people who have literally pushed her chair and moved her because she was "in their way" while they were shopping...when she was shopping as well) given what I have seen I just cannot leave it alone any more...I will find someone in authority to make these things right.

Oh, and the CHOG Hall of Fame...excellent, but do try to get their faces in the pic...people like this deserve to be embarrassed

I'm currently onboard the Norwegian Getaway and just came back from the fireworks show up on deck 16 at the Spice H2O area. The open deck was jammed full with hundreds and hundreds of people all crowding in to this area to get a view of the fireworks show, which was scheduled to start at 10:45 PM.

We arrived at 10:15 in order to find a decent place to sit or stand to see the fireworks. All the seats were taken by that time, and so it was standing room only throughout the entire area. However, over in the far corner I spotted what looked like two empty seats... which I assumed someone was saving for a friend or relative who hadn't arrived yet.

My wife and I walked over to that corner to verify that the seats were indeed being saved. Someone had placed a shawl or sweatshirt or something on the chair to indicate that it was taken. I decided to move those two seats forward just a tiny bit so that there would be enough room for my wife and I to stand behind them. As soon as I touched the chairs, a woman snarled at me that those seats were taken. I didn't respond or even look towards the woman... I simply maneuvered in to the space behind those two saved chairs and stood there for the rest of the lead-in to the fireworks show.

The chairs remained empty the entire time, and the woman waved off anyone that dare come anywhere near them. Finally, when an announcement was made that the fireworks show was about two minutes from starting... and the chairs were still empty... the woman did the most outrageous act of chair hogging I've ever seen on a cruise ship! It was incredible!

With the show two minutes away from starting, and the chairs having sat empty for at least a half an hour, the woman must have started to realize that whoever she was saving them for wasn't going to show up after all. So, rather than apologize to the people around her and to offer the chairs to any of the elderly people standing in the area, here's what the woman decided to do: she took the two chairs that she and her husband were sitting on and stacked them on top of the two empty chairs... and then she and her husband sat on them so that NO ONE could have the two unused chairs!

I snapped a photo... because I wanted all my friends on CruiseCritic to be able to see what I think must have been one of the most outrageous chair hogging incidents in the history of cruising! If we had a chair hogging wall of shame, this picture would surely go on it!

ChairHogs-IMG_5373.JPG

I hereby nominate these two fine folks to be the King and Queen of the Chair Hogs!

I have a much more fitting name for them, but I don't want to get banned so I won't say it.

Your self control is admirable. My hubby always says, "Just because someone else is and a$$ho!e, doesn't mean you have to be one too." You have your dignity.

That said, if you see them again, take a picture. Pair it with the story and other photo and post it on facebook. It'll go viral!

Sorry, my wicked side just came out. IMHO you handled yourself very gracefully. Unfortunately the world is full of bullies and selfish people.

I would have done something like:

Give them my empty glass. If they objected I would say, "Oh I'm sorry, I thought you were deck crew - they are the ones who usually stack the chairs."

Would probably have gone whooosh way over their heads though...
