ImShelly Posted September 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Hello everyone. My husband and I are finally diamond! I was wondering if you could name some of the cocktails you might get at the evening cocktail event? I looked at the list of wines and liquors on the list but I really am not familiar with a lot of drinks so could you share what you order to give me some ideas? I usually drink wine and sometimes have a cosmo so I know I can have the wine. I am familiar with rum and coke and skrewdrivers. Thanks for your help.:)

setsail Posted September 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Mostly things that do not involve blenders or foo foo drinks. On the rocks or with a mixer works
cruisinfanatic Posted September 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) We had Bailey's on the rocks every night. Very tasty!! was refused Baileys as well as Fuzzy Navels last Feb on Indy. Hope they've changed their allowed drink list. njmomof2 Posted September 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Ordered margaritas on the rocks as well as Baybreeze (you could do a Seabreeze as well). I also got Baileys on the rocks at the casino bar after dinner while watching mom play with my diamond coupon. Mostly anything that does not involve freezing or a blender seems okay. Trainman-2 Posted September 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2014 After leaving Bermuda on the Vision of the Seas a few days ago,I learned quickly that not only did nobody know if the Bermuda Rum Swizzle was on the approved list but none of the bartenders I asked to make me one knew what was in it or how to make it!
SRV FAN Posted September 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2014 It's a while before I will be Diamond, but there seems to be a lot of excitement about "free" drinks once you hit that mark. We always buy the ultimate drink package & so I am wondering just how that effects (if at all) the "free" drinks you get being Diamond..... I'm guessing you just won't get your "free" drinks, or you will & they won't go on your acct. But either way, I guess there is a special place you all go to get these "free" drinks? I can't wait to be Diamond.... but not thinking the "free" drinks will get me anything extra. IDK?
MattInFLL Posted September 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2014 SRV - I usually get the Ultimate package and when in the DL the only difference is that you don't have to sign a slip and your drink selection is reduced. I'm not sure if they load the coupons on or not when you have the package, since it will not matter. On the 2 day Oasis cruise I did, they would not let us buy a package so I used the free drinks coupons. They work very well. Again, you are allowed the basic cocktails with the coupons and well liquors. But when I tallied up my bill, the package would still have been more economical for me. So even though I get the free drinks, I will still get the package. Of course, that decision is personal to someone's own habits and consumption. IDK? The Complimentary Happy hour is usually held 5 - 8:30 or on some ships 4 - 8 in the Diamond Lounge. Also you get 3 drinks loaded on to your Sea Pass card that must be used during those same hours but can be used in most lounges. It all depends on how much you drink outside that time period. Also the drink menu is limited for the complimentary cocktails, not frozen drinks , top shelf and the beer selection is limited.
packedandready Posted September 12, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 12, 2014 The drinks that are loaded on your card.... Can you get bottled water? Seems to me that if you are a non-drinker you get the short end of the stick. I'm not even a soda drinker. Seems like bottled water would be a good substitution. I've never seen bottled water in the DL. You can get juices (cranberry, orange) that they use as mixers. You can also get soda water added to them. Or just a glass of water. How is it the short end of the stick? Happy hour is a benefit and there are limits. I would say if non-drinkers get the short end of the stick then you can say the same thing about drinkers who can't order just anything. It has restrictions because it's being given to you. You can get a glass of water in the lounge so you can get a glass of water at the bar. You can also get a glass of club soda. You are not getting the short end of any stick. One is not required to use the vouchers. We have had lounge access for years and there are many evenings we have not gone to the lounge during cocktail hours. On other nights, we might have one drink. Our last cruise did not have the voucher program in place, but if we did we would likely use just one voucher per night. Enjoy, M

Bailey's was on the drink list we were given the first day of our cruise. I sure hope they have it on the Quantum for our next cruise.

BND Posted September 12, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Here's the list I found That's the one that someone posted very recently and I think it is from Grandeur. If you notice, Bailey's is on there as well as Pinot Grigio which are both new. They've taken sparkling wine off. So, this list is definitely good for some ships, but we don't know if for all. maggieq Posted September 12, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) They didn't offer baileys in the diamond or concierge lounge on the oasis. However, we both enjoyed baileys at the trellis bar during the evening hours. Edited September 12, 2014 by maggieq

monkeyinhat Posted September 14, 2014 #20 Share Posted September 14, 2014 To OP. I enjoy cranberry & vodka. I might chance it with the coupons and try for a margarita on the rocks. I have never tried for things with more than one mixer.
iriemon Posted September 14, 2014 #21 Share Posted September 14, 2014 I just turned Diamond also and will be doing my first cruise as a diamond in Oct on FOS. Seems everyone is talking about coupons for drinks are these in your room? Also talking about coupons on your card which I know they going to. How do you know what is on your card? xxHadleyxx Posted September 14, 2014 #23 Share Posted September 14, 2014 The list they gave us on the Oasis TA (which finished yesterday) was: SPIRITS Bacardi rum Bailey's Irish Cream Tanqueray Gin Finlandia Vodka Dewar's White Label Scotch Whiskey Jameson Irish Whiskey Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila Courvosier VS Cognac Sandeman Port Wine WINES BY THE GLASS St Martin Chardonay Zonin Pinot Grigio Beringer White Zinfandel St Martin Cabernet Sauvignon BEERS Budweiser Miller Light Amstel Light Corona Haineken NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES (there was no mention of what you could get as a non alcoholic beverage--but I got several canned Cokes without a problem, from multiple bars). Thanks No paper coupons: e-vouchers loaded to your seapss card to be used between 5-8:30 every evening, 3 per evening. Pretty much any bar on the ship; not in the Windjammer or Dining Room. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE DOLLAR BILLS WITH YOU AND TIP YOUR BAR STAFF. A 15% gratuity on a $0 bill is a $0 gratuity. They do the same work for your free drink. You might be surprised after a few days of handing them a $1 tip when you request your e-vouchered drink that they might "forget" the drink menu entirely. ;)

It depends on the dining time. On GR the dining times were 5:30 and 8 so DL times were 4:30-8:00.
