OBC will not transfer on B2B

A fellow cruiser just got off the phone with their second Princess rep today. Both have said that leftover On Board Credits will not transfer from first cruise to the second on a Back to Back. Personally I don't have a problem with the new "use them or lose them policy", but by not transferring for B2B cruises seems like a bad policy. For instance I would like to use those credits to buy transfers at the end of my second cruise and maybe the luggage service, but I'll bet those will not be available for purchase after cruise 1. Also apparently will not be able to use them for wk 2 tips. (unless they allow you to prepay tips before wk2 starts. Might have to leave a double tip after cruise 1 and nothing after wk2. Oh well, I guess time will tell.

On our last B2B cruise, Nov/Dec 2013, we were given the option of having two separate bills, or carrying over the bill from the first cruise to the second cruise. If you have a combined bill, I would think that the OBC from the first cruise would carry over to the second cruise. Perhaps check with the customer relations desk when you board and see what they say.

That's been our experience as well, however apparently, the new OBC forfeiture policy changes that.

That's too bad. We never have any leftover OBC, so I guess it won't be a problem. Our next B2B is in October of 2015. We have $1,075.00 on the first leg and $325.00 on the second. It sounds like a lot, but the auto tips alone will be $483.00. That leaves us $592.00, but our bar tab runs about $100.00 per day. I guess I better start saving now.;)

...leftover On Board Credits will not transfer from first cruise to the second on a Back to Back...

On our B2B in December, we received a check in the mail for the left over amount from cruise 1. We were given cash at the pursers desk for the left over amount from cruise 2.

Would you know if this was one of the special promotional deals such as excursion credit that says it needs to be used during the cruise it was earned? I've read that limitation on several of the promotional deals which is not allowed to be transferred to the 2nd cruise of a B2B.

On all but one cruise our combined balance (positive or negative) has rolled over to the next cruise. Once they made a mistake & it was easily corrected by going to the PSD the evening before turnaround day.

The new changes that I've read about & 1st implemented on the Royal have dealt with end of cruise cash refunds for most types of complimentary OBCs however not to rollover eligible OBCs.

Not that I know of. It is a 5 day Ruby voyage on Nov 3rd combined with a 7 day trip afterward. The Princess site just list $200pp onboard credit for the first leg. I too was suspect but have now had 2 separate agents say credits are not transferrable to second leg. I think it must have to do with the new forfeiture policy. I am not going to consider B2B trips in the future. First you get less for Shareholder credits than a single longer cruise in most cases. You now also need 2 FCC's per person since they changed that policy several years ago giving all people in the cabin the credits, and now this. I really don't enjoy the extra day in FLL anyway, so I think I'll stick to other options in the future.

Thanks but I won't change my plans based on input from 2 agents because too often they're not correct. The new "forfeiture" policy is still being implemented & the 1st report I've read about was from the Royal's cruise ending yesterday. It appears that only military & paid OBCs will be refundable at the end of a cruise but not affecting balance transfers on B2B cruises.

There is so much conflicting info that hopefully soon will become more definitive. ;)

Whether I get more OBC (FCC, shareholder, military, loyalty) varies & something I always consider along with the cruise fare. For a cruise earlier this year it was much more cost-effective for us by booking as a B2B vs. as a single longer cruise.

We will be joining you and are also doing B2B. We received the same answer on no carry over from the first cruise to the second. Our first cruise OBC is much more than our second and it would be nice to have the flexibility to spend some of the credit on the longer second leg. I am sure it will all be used but it forces us to do more earlier on the first shorter leg hen we had planned.

I think it depends on whether you have booked two cruises under separate locators or booked one cruise. We are on Royal Princess in January on two b2b 10 day cruises but it has been booked as one cruise with one booking locator, so I guess our OBC will carry over from the first cruise to the second?

We booked a longer cruise on the Golden in March as a b2b & our folio's balance was transferred to the next cruise. We had not used all of our OBC on the 1st cruise & the remainder was transferred as a credit to our 2nd cruise's folio. Not to say that things won't change but our remaining OBC (none was any type of promotional OBC stating to use it during a single cruise) rolled over to the 2nd cruise. :)

Just off the Ruby from a B2B2B. We booked all 3 cruises during the 3 for 1 promotion were we received $100.00 per person as shore excursion credit. On the first leg the $ 200.00 was added to the onboard account for us to spend on anything we liked. We never did a Princess excursion. At the end of this cruise the balans was automaticly transfered to the next leg. Another $ 200.00 was added. Same story at the end of the second leg.

So, yes, they will transfer to the next leg of your B2B (at least they did for us).

As a side note, we did ask the Circle Host but she did not have a clue.

And was it non refundable, and did you spend it all?

Just wondering after all the posts about OBC changes on another thread here.

I have no idea if it is refundable or not because yes we spend it all, and then some.

Just off the Royal one week ago on a b2b booked as two separate cruises. One folio had a credit balance on the first voyage and the credit balance transferred to the second voyage folio. There was a single net amount due at the end of the second voyage. Also, left over internet mins. remained in the internet account at the end of the first voyage and new mins were added for a combined total. If you have any concerns just visit customer service once on board.

We have never had OBC or internet minutes transfer. We have also never been asked if we want our bill at the end of each cruise or at the end of out trip.

Just got off a 5 day and a 4 day booked as separate cruises on Caribbean Princess but in the same cabin and my leftover internet minutes and ship account were carried over from one to the next without me asking.

Casino credits on my keycard were not - as usual I had a phone call in the cabin reminding me to cashout or lose it.

Do you know how they work it if you buy a 14 days cruise (which is how they sale it) but it also being sold as tow 7 days cruises?

We have just returned today from a b2b on the Ruby and the obc does transfer, just check that it happens with Customer Services. It was not a problem.
