Very Concerned About Recent Allure Reviews

I have been reading a lot of negative reviews about the Allure especially in recent weeks. I am going on the Allure in January and I am hoping that those reviews is not the norm now that Quantum is out. Has anyone been on the Allure lately and has a good time?

Stop reading reviews, is my suggestion. For every 'bad' review there are probably plenty of people who had a GREAT time and never told anyone or wrote on any message board about it.

We cruised on Allure last June/July. I did not enjoy the Donut Hut doughnuts at all. The Hot Dog House was a cute attraction, hot dogs are hot dogs...and a great thing to eat while we watched the Belly Flop Contest in the Aqua Theater. Entertainment was very good, great karaoke venue, Izumi was wonderful. Park Café has great roast beef sandwiches, never ate anything else from there. I did not enjoy the Wipe Out Café or the Solarium café -- but that was me.

Food in MDR was very good....was every item I ordered perfect, no. But I don't get every item perfectly when I am in a land restaurant sometimes. Wait staff did everything they could to make dinner wonderful -- including getting me chocolate chip cookies for dessert every night (since most of the desserts are too gooey for me).

Housekeeping staff was wonderful....very attentive and gave us everything we asked for -- they could not do a better job.

What I did not like was having to pay to use the steam room and sauna....so I did not. In the end, I did not miss going to the steam room or sauna, since I never had time.

Had a great cruise on Allure. Would I do it again...probably...but I have other Royal ships to go on first....cruising Independence of the Seas sailing Valentines Day, 2015.

I was on the Allure over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. This was my second time on Allure with the first being December 2013.

If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask!

I was also on the Thanksgiving sailing with my dh and 3 kids.

They had so much fun and we really enjoyed the service we

received. We were late into St. Thomas but were given obc.

We also found plenty to eat and do around the ship. Go into

Your cruise with an open mind and don't worry or sweat the small

stuff. Have a great cruise!

We met some great people on the cruise as well.

Where did you see bad reviews for Allure? I thought I have read every single review and I don't remember seeing any negative ones.

Go planning to have a good time and most likely you will! If you go looking for all the bad stuff people are telling you then you will find it.

I was on the Allure last month and had a great cruise, did have a few problems with the cabin, but they were resolved by the time I returned from dinner even though I had to visit with the floor supervisor. One suggestion make your reservations for the shows ASAP.

I am looking forward to cruising on the Allure of the Seas. Two questions: are normal announcements made in English on a Mediterranean cruise and are all the shows open to everyone? I've wondered about shows when a special interest group has booked a big part of the ship?

Sailed the Allure Twice...........loved it.

Now going on the Oasis............cannot wait.

Was concerned about sailing on these ships for their size, but, every time we sailed the Allure we found something new.

Cannot wait, but guess I have too.

Just got back from being on the allure. There seems to be some mechanical issues which is making them cut back on power with the air conditioning. Every night it would suddenly get hot in the room. The elevators tended to be hot in the evening.

We also are just off ALLURE (Nov 30 sailing). This was our second time and we had a great time.)

Breakfast in the MDR is very good.

Lunch in the MDR is very good, (open on sea days)

Dinner in the MDR is very good, (keep in mind, this is not meant to be a 5 star restaurant, service by the waitstaff could not be better...whatever you want, if "possible" they will do it.

As you can see, we like to be served.

The Windjammer (food frenzy) is good, there is a good selection.

Central Park, the roast beef sandwiches and salads are excellent...be aware the seating space is limited..

We did not use any of the Specialty restaurants....so no comments about them...

Cabin staff, "our guy" was adequate, we have had better.

We used the Schooner bar so much that the wait staff knew what we would have without asking (being Diamond, we had out "free" drinks there every evening.

The shows, Chicago, excellent, Ice show very good, although what does Monoply have to do with Pavoriti singing Nessun Dorma? Comedy show is VERY good, Blue Planet excellent, and the Abba show was outstanding.

MAKE RESERVATIONS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

All the "doings" at the Promenade were very good, is a bit crowded.

Play mini golf, do the Zip line, watch the "surf-boarders" there is so much to do, or not...whatever you choose...even BINGO.. We even walked away with $40 from the slots....(the penny machines) (be aware SMOKING IS ALLOWED ON ONE SIDE OF THE CASINO... IT STINKS.

For some reason the walk off on Sunday was delayed, anyone know why?

(we had reason to visit the medical facility on deck 2, it's worth a trip down there just to see I 95, what the staff calls the big hallway that they use to get from stern to bow access to the areas....BUSY...

I'm sure that some people have problems, but then again consider the "source" (they are usually the demanding PIA"s that have problems everywhere...the staff are not slaves, they work VERY hard, and will be helpful if you are PLEASANT.

Just as a note, we have traveled quite a bit on CELEBRITY SOLSTACE "Aqua" class and find we like that about 1% better, but the Allure/Oasis has just so much more to do...

A wonderful fast and concise review of your recent Allure cruise. And you are right, the PIA will always be PIA, no matte what it is nor how good something might be. But life is not perfect, and expecting a vacation that involves people to be, is being unrealistic.

To add just a little, Izumi (when we were on Allure in summer 2014) was terrific. Food outstanding and we were 15 minutes early for our reservation and seated right away -- which was good, since we were starved after seeing Chicago at the 7pm show and enjoyed it.

We enjoyed the Diamond Lounge a lot. At the time, it was overlooking the Promenade and gave us a good vantage point to people watch. I understand that its location may be moving when it goes in for its dry dock -- that is sad (from my POV).

We had a balcony overlooking CP; if we cruise her again, we will try a balcony overlooking Boardwalk, near the Aqua theater. Just to give us some view of the ocean from our balcony. Staff was very good, we do not require much maintenance.

ENJOY Allure whomever is sailing on her.

pajazz - we were on the Nov. 23 Allure sailing, and here's what I would say. Dining Room waiter was the BEST in 20+ years of sailing Royal Caribbean. With the exception of the waiter, the overall service seemed SLOW elsewhere on board - Johnny Rockets, Samba, shops, bars (even the Vitality Bar). Also, if you have C&A coupons preloaded onto your card, you will need to make the staff aware of them. They will not automatically remind you.

January is a good time to go - ship is less crowded, typically, so that may help tremendously. If you have My Time Dining, Lucille (female) was our waiter, and she was incredible. We loved her, and she made our 6 yr old daughter feel like the only person in the entire dining room. On our sailing, she was Table 822 and 823 (among others), if I'm remembering table numbers correctly. If you see her, you can tell her that the little girl from the Thanksgiving cruise still has the napkin flowers she made. We had nothing but GREAT things to say about Lucille. Her assistant (for that sailing) Jeffrey, was not as good, so Lucille was doing two jobs at times!!

We've sailed RCCL the past nine years. No interest in ever sailing Oasis or Allure:D We just don't care for their limited ports. That said, happy to hear the good reviews again for them.:)

We'll be on the Allure in March and I can't wait to see her!;) We have been to all of those ports and, this time, our destination is the ship! I doubt that we will even get off at any of the ports but plan to just relax in style! We have 4 specialty restaurants and all of the shows scheduled, so pampering here we come!!:p Yay!!
