  1. 1. Would some sort of salty snack have any impact?

    • A snack might cause me to stay a little longer and order another drink!

When we were on the Celebrity Equinox last year, they had their Salty Snax in little wine carafes, so one could only pour the stuff into one's hand, not rummage around in the pretzels with one's spittle-covered digits.

I'm still waiting (about 12 years now) for some type of salty chips to go with my sandwich at the deli. Amazing that they deliver sandwiches through room service with chips but they can not be had at the deli.

1. A bowl of some munchies others have had their hands in? Hell no.

2. Munchies provided would cost Carnival. Guess who would pay for them...not the cruise line.

3. There is so much other food on the ship...why would I want crap in a bar?

I think is someone wants something special that isn't offered, they should take it themselves. As for other cruise lines that offer different things...those cruise lines don't do it for free...you're paying for it in the cost of the cruise.

That's how our local bar does it also. They also provide little plastic cups to pour snack into.

I mean it would be nice, but on a ship that size with so many people there's no way I would put my hand in something that other people's hands have been in.

Now if they could do a single serving of bar snacks or something I would be all for it. But to just have a bowl of bar snacks that other people have picked through. OMG gross. Sorry but I just couldn't.

Agree. AND I'd never eat popcorn at the movie unless I could sanitize my hands first. this may not be a cutback but for health reasons instead.

Nah... The joke is that I posted a general conversation item for people to discuss but really just wanted to see how long it would take you to get your panties in a twist and comment on it...

Soooooo, as you now claim, you posted this because you" really wanted to see how long it would take" me "to get" my "panties in a twist and comment on it". And that claim was made right after you said that you "posted a general conversation item for people to discuss". Well, my panties didn't get into a twist. It appears that yours did because you were annoyed (which you spelled wrong) because someone didn't supply you with something that you thought was really important and neccessary; so important and necessary that when you didn't get it you became annoyed. One would think that if this was so important to you, you would make sure you always had salty snacks in you fanny pack along with your anti-annoyance pills. The other possibility would be to order 4 more drinks and you wouldn't care if there were salty snacks or not. Oh sorry, it is only the salty snacks that you get for free that would make you want to buy another drink, much less four more. So in reality, the post wasn't a joke; the poster is.

OK, let me get this straight.... we are on a ship with so much food we don't know what to do with ourselves, 24 hour room service, 24 hour pizza, 24 ice cream, taste bars, gift shops, candy shops, dessert stand.... and we are talking about snacks at the bar?

Between beers, get out and walk a few minutes, it'll do your heart good.

but, if it is that important, maybe someone that is really concerned should suggest a little snack bar with little bowls in the bars, so you can get your own, instead of posting on CC were nothing can get done.

There is so much other food. And like others said, I don't want to eat something that somebody else put their hands on. Norovirus! Hello! People don't wash their hands as is. You want snacks? Bring your own. I can see the next complaint to John Heald, HEALD!!!!!!!!! Imagine my disgust and disappointment on my last carnival cruise that your bartenders had the nerve to serve peanuts as a bar snack! I am allergic! When I asked for pretzels instead, they rudely told me they don't have any! How do you not have pretzels on a dang boat?! This really ruined my cruise!!!!!!!!! I am multi platinum diamond gold and I demand this be taken care of ASAP or I will find another line. I know you will do this.

Lmao

I remember when they had snacks at the bars and they were individual bowls but there was a huge amount of waste because people would walk away after just a few nibbles and they had to through the rest out. I saw one of those tall trash cans in the Casino bar have to be emptied twice in one night.

Practically speaking I am sure Carnival can source tiny, individual sized (under 1oz) bags of salty crackers, pretzels, or peanuts for probably under 25 cents per unit. It would be easy enough to display a bowl or basket of these individually wrapped bags behind the bar; you just ask the bartender or server for one.

Salty snacks are going to cause people to drink more or drink faster, all of which adds up to more drinks sold by the cruiseline, more tips for servers, and so on. Therefore providing a small, pre-packaged salty snack would seem like a good business move. Communal bowls though, no thanks. sticker,375x360.png

AGREED!!! No way would I want a community bowl of any sort. Individual wrapped packs might be a challenge with additional trash it creates and people leaving wrappers behind. Would a bucket o' pretzels with tongs for the bartender to put some in a bowl be too difficult to achieve? Shoot, I'd even tip an additional buck or two on top of what I tip for the Red Frog draft!

No community bowl! With all the problems with Noro - especially on Princess lately, it would be a health issue.

i liked the snack mix they used to serve at the bars, so i'd be happy if they still had them.

they used to have a bag of the stuff behind the bars and serve them in glasses with a napkin. no communal bowls and such so that isn't an issue

I got to admit I'm laughing at some of the posts suggesting to get food elsewhere while drinking. They obviously don't know the purpose of a salty snack.

We understand. You obviously don't understand the purpose of a confined space at sea... people will drink... salty snacks or not. They will be right back to the bar, and probably pick up a drink on the way to the 24hr pizza.

Salty snacks aren't necessary. Have you seen the tractor trailers full of booze being onloaded for each cruise?

However, you are welcome to bring a jar of nuts with you onboard.

It would be a nice addition, albeit one that wouldn't make any difference to me as to whether I stayed at a bar longer or not. Lots of small bowls with paper liners that held snacks would be great. The waiters or bartenders could just throw away the liner and put in new ones and refill the bowls. Handing out small individual size packages of chips or whatever would encourage people to take them and move on. Putting them into a bowl might make some stay longer.

I think it would be unfair to just have them at the lobby bar though. We don't spend as much time there (only just before going to dinner if we have to wait with ATD) All bars should have some if any of them do.

I didnt read everyone response but there is a way not to have a communal bowl or have paper wrappers..

there are dispensers we use for cereal that you turn a knob and it dispenses whats in the container. you have a little plate that is just yours and you put the plate under the dispenser and turn the knob. no one touches it but you

something like the attached
