If all you want is soda, be sure to ask very clearly and check what you are signing. On a recent 3-day cruise on the Golden, I asked for the soda card. I was asked to sign a slip at over $8.00 per day. Thanks to Cruise Critic, I knew that this was too high and asked what it covered. The salesperson enthusiastically responded with an elaborate list (mocktails etc.). I reiterated that I had asked for just a soda card. He then (a bit sullenly) charged me the $5.18 price. Beware the silent upsell!

Coffee (specialty or brewed) is not part of any of the soda packages.

The Ultimate package that includes soda, bar juices, mocktails, hot chocolate and shakes, was originally called the Ultimate Kids package (so that might give you a really good insight as to why coffee is not part of it).

If you want specialty coffees at a discounted rate, buy the coffee card.

Is specialty coffee included in the soda and more package? And do they have floats and shakes on the Crown Princess?

I got the coffee card on our last cruise. I used 10 of the 15 punches. They had several kinds of frappucinos by the way. They were all good. I got coffee in the casino and they tried to charge me and then just looked at my card and it was included in the unlimited drip coffee. So even in the casino the coffee will cost you. Just some coffee info for you there.

I will be buying the card again. I am going to share with my adult daughter since I still have those 5 punches left from last time.

THANK YOU for taking the trouble to warn others of this practise. Because of Legal Blindness and Mobility issues, I may be "perceived" as an easy upsell target! I do intend to get the Soda and More package and just pay for Cocktails as required as sailing on a coastal cruise in Australian waters it seems the All-Inclusive Alcohol Package is not available.

Someone has previously posted a Beverages Spreadsheet, and someone else suggested gifting myself OBC to cover expenses on board. I plan to set up as much as I can before boarding, so it's straight to the stateroom to check the Patter, head for lunch, then start exploring until the Muster Drill!

You can order them from the Gift Catalog (scroll to bottom for non-alcoholic packages) or just wait until you board. On the first day just go to the Lido buffet and ask a server to take your drink order--guaranteed you will get a spiel for the drink packages :D

...but thankfully Princess is one of the few lines that does not bombard you with sales pitches for extras such as the soda card every time you log onto the personalizer or via near-daily e-mails.

Coffee

Coffee and tea are available for free from 6am until 11pm every day in the buffet area. On most Princess ships the coffee is made from a syrup concentrate, the same process that you see in Burger King and many land restaurants.

The Royal and I guess the Regal have a different equipment for producing the free coffee. Ground coffee is in a container at the top of the machine. When you push the button ground coffee drops into a brewer inside of the machine and then comes out tasting more like brewed coffee. The Royal also had free hot cocoa in the buffet areas.
