No more announcements??

While sailing Indy Jan. 11 and 17, our capt. announced at the muster drills that there would be no announcements except for safty or emergency situations. He said that this was effective after Jan. l. Indeed, the only announcements we heard for the two cruises were of that nature. So nice no shrieking bingo, belly flop nor art auction announcements. Anyone else sailing since Jan. have the same experience?

It was that way last week on our Oasis cruise and it was SOOOO nice. :)

Yep. I read about it before and experienced the same on our sailing last week.

Fabulous, no irritating noise about bingo, art auctions and competitions. It's all in the compass anyway.

The constant PA announcements on RC are something I do not miss -- Celebrity does not have them. The Captain makes his "navigational address" once a day -- usually around noon. After the Captain speaks, the CD is often allowed to make a quick plug for that day's activities -- but, that's it! :cool:

We were on Brilliance the weekend of Jan 22nd and there were NO announcements. Noticed it the first day and commented to my husband about it. It made a huge difference not to hear an announcement every 5 minutes.

The Staff Officer on Indy I spoke with recently said it's fleet wide effective Jan 01, 2015.

I don't miss the constant announcements at all, but we always enjoy the Captain's noon navigational address. Are they doing away with that as well?

ah, so that makes sense now. I was wondering why we heard so few announcements on our cruise last week! nice!

 

I do enjoy hearing from the captain once a day...it makes me feel more connected.

Only noon captain announcement on Quantum during our Jan 23rd - 10 day cruise. It was one of the things we like about Celebrity that we were happy to see started on RCCL.
