39august Posted January 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2015 While sailing Indy Jan. 11 and 17, our capt. announced at the muster drills that there would be no announcements except for safty or emergency situations. He said that this was effective after Jan. l. Indeed, the only announcements we heard for the two cruises were of that nature. So nice no shrieking bingo, belly flop nor art auction announcements. Anyone else sailing since Jan. have the same experience?

leinhto Posted January 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2015 Yep. I read about it before and experienced the same on our sailing last week.
peteukmcr Posted January 30, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2015 Fabulous, no irritating noise about bingo, art auctions and competitions. It's all in the compass anyway.
OCruisers Posted January 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2015 Wonderful! Maybe, they are finally understanding that those of us who cruise on RCCL really can read! :D LuLu

wwcruisers Posted February 3, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 3, 2015 The constant PA announcements on RC are something I do not miss -- Celebrity does not have them. The Captain makes his "navigational address" once a day -- usually around noon. After the Captain speaks, the CD is often allowed to make a quick plug for that day's activities -- but, that's it!
karena1 Posted February 3, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2015 We were on Brilliance the weekend of Jan 22nd and there were NO announcements. Noticed it the first day and commented to my husband about it. It made a huge difference not to hear an announcement every 5 minutes.
PerferWarmWeather Posted February 3, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 3, 2015 The Staff Officer on Indy I spoke with recently said it's fleet wide effective Jan 01, 2015.

I don't miss the constant announcements at all, but we always enjoy the Captain's noon navigational address. Are they doing away with that as well? michtrif Posted February 3, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 3, 2015 ah, so that makes sense now. I was wondering why we heard so few announcements on our cruise last week! nice! I do enjoy hearing from the captain once a day...it makes me feel more connected.

VaTech8912 Posted February 4, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 4, 2015 Only noon captain announcement on Quantum during our Jan 23rd - 10 day cruise. It was one of the things we like about Celebrity that we were happy to see started on RCCL.
