courteliz Posted February 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2015 Okay, what is close and good to do in FLL with delayed embarkation. DH and I like microbreweries or a good wine bar. Somewhere to sit on the water ? Looks like we will have at least 3 hours before we can report to the terminal with CB being delayed.

Well, the beachfront is pretty incredible and there are a few bars in that area. Or how about taking a stroll up Las Olas Boulevard to window shop, have drinks or a meal? Or maybe a boat tour of the Intracoastal Waterway or Millionaire's Row? Try http://www.sunny.org for more ideas. Have fun!
Rare geoherb Posted February 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2015 We were delayed once before a cruise because of a norovirus outbreak on the previous cruise (Crown Princess, December 2011). They allowed us to drop off our checked luggage then directed us to the convention center for check in. After we were able to get our cruise cards, we walked over to the Harbor Shops at 17th Street. It's about a mile from the convention center. We purchased the wine we wanted for tour cruise at Total Wine, ate lunch in the diner there (Joe's Cafe), then walked back to the convention center to wait some more. We finally boarded at 2:45. We were in the first group after the Elite and suite passengers.
kylea_s Posted February 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2015 There is a water bus on the intercoastal take a round trip journey. Have a great lunch at the water side cafe. Check the internet to see what movies are playing in the local theaters, maybe catch one of the Oscar winners. OR sit in the convention center wishing you weren't there. capriccio Posted February 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2015 There is a water bus on the intercoastal take a round trip journey. That's the water taxi (http://www.watertaxi.com) and the nearest stop is under the 17th Street bridge by the Hilton Marina. You can hop on and off so you could have lunch at a restaurant on Las Olas (for example) and then return to the Hilton Marina. If your ship is at terminal 2 the Hilton is within walking distance (about 1/2 mile).

Loonbeam Posted February 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2015 We did the water taxi as well, economical, entertaining and practical.
Go-Bucks! Posted February 26, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Lunch at Bubba Gump's and a walk up and down the beach sounds nice to me. :D
royalcruz Posted February 26, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2015 Tap 42 is close to the port and is a very popular tap room. 42 taps from lots of breweries, and the food is great too.
MTJSR Posted February 26, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2015 The area along the beach and Las Olas Blvd is pretty quiet until 11 as they begin setting up the outside eating areas etc. Nobody on the beach either really. So Id check google and trip adviser for reviews and ideas as well. Have fun, love the whole area! Also, if you have time, the "Carrie B" paddleboat ride will take you thru the waterways of Ft Lauderdale and the open harbor where the ships are all berthed. Worth the 40.00 bucks! Thrak Posted February 26, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 26, 2015 We will probably be in a similar type of situation in September but, in our case, we will probably have quite a wait to board our flight home after we disembark. We looked at flights and we may have a choice between hours in FLL before getting on the plane or a 4 hour layover somewhere else. Hanging out and doing something fun in FLL sounds much better than sitting in an airport somewhere for 4 hours!
